    DEDICATION

This book is dedicated to those whom the Lord Jesus Christ has used to make an unforgettable impact in my life. Without them this book would not have been possible: Mr. & Mrs. C. N. C. Nwokoye, Archbishop Dr. B. A. Idahosa, Archbishop Dr. V. C. Onuigbo, Rev. Timothy Kanyion, Rev. Peter Hadden, Rev. David Richards, Rev. Dr. Tunde Joda and Rev. Dr. David Yonggi Cho.

To God be all the Glory!

    INTRODUCTION

L uke 1: 37 says, For with God nothing shall be impossible. This tells me that no Christian can do anything or achieve anything that glorifies God without the help of Him. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:4 that Satan is the lord of this world and talks about the world system. Satan did not create the world, but the negative things that happen in the world are down to him. As Christians, we are in the world but not of the world. To defeat Satan in this world we must put on the whole armour of God so that we can defeat Satan (Ephesians 6: 11).

Brothers and sisters, there is no Satan in Heaven, so the war originates and ends here on earth. Jesus Christ Himself says that we must overcome something in this world for us to qualify to sit with Him in Heaven (Revelation 3: 21). So let’s arise and shine because there is no failure in God. You can make it if you believe in the power of the Holy Spirit. Things may seem very hard for you now, but this will not last forever if you believe and trust in the Saviour. After all, IF GOD BE FOR YOU, WHO CAN BE AGAINST YOU?

This book will impact your life and teach you how to win in the battles of life. Remember, it is not over until God says it is and it will not be over until we win. Success is a journey and not a destination. You will never know what you are capable of doing until you try.

May God bless you as you read it!

    COMMENDATIONS

I t gives me great pleasure to write a commendation for Rev. Dr. Joe Nwokoye’s new book, God Will Do it For You . This is no doubt a great testament to the faithfulness of God in Pastor Joe’s life and ministry. Our friendship and admiration for each other dates back more than twenty eight years ago when we were both attending Christ Chapel in Lagos, Nigeria. I thank God for his unwavering faith in God and the courage on his face even in challenging times. I strongly recommend this book for the reading of anyone who desires to experience a turnaround in any situation they may be facing. Expect a miracle!

    - Bishop Paul Fadeyi, Grace Outreach Church, London, UK

It gives me great honor to write a commendation for my friend and minister Rev. Dr. Joe Nwokoye’s new book, God Will Do it For You! I thank God every day for meeting Pastor Joe Nwokoye through my friend Tony Rouger, 17 years ago after coming to Scotland from Trinidad and Tobago. I have seen him live by faith, hope, trust and obedience to God for all these years. So, I will strongly recommend this book for the reading of anyone who desires to see the impossible become possible in their life, ministry, family or business. When everything else has failed or let you down, God can do it for you (Luke 1: 37).

    CHAPTER 1

    SERVING GOD IN NIGERIA

W hilst I was in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1985, the Spirit of God directed me to go to Scotland. I doubted and questioned this seriously because I was working in a growing Pentecostal church, Christ Chapel. I did not want to leave my comfort zone. My pastor, the Reverend Dr Chris Joda, was taking good care of me, and everything I needed was supplied. However, the Holy Spirit kept speaking to my heart. I prayed and fasted for two weeks, hoping the urge would go away, but it didn’t.

I went to my pastor and shared with him what I received from the Lord. Dr Joda advised me to wait awhile so that I could travel with him and other members to the Dr Kenneth Hagin camp meeting, which our church attended annually. I obeyed. But when the time came, the US embassy in Lagos declined my application for a visa. The pastors and the team went to the States, and during their absence, I became more frustrated.

I went to Benin City in Nigeria to meet with my mentor, the archbishop. Fortunately for me, he was in the country and at home. I shared with him how I had believed God was leading me to Scotland. Before I could finish my story he said, Nwokoye, go pack your bag and leave.

Papa [the name we call him as spiritual father], I don’t know anyone in Scotland.

Good! Abraham did not know anybody when God asked him to go to a land. He would show him.

The archbishop was a great man of God but I wondered why I had come to see him. Then I asked for his blessings, and he prayed a very short, simple prayer: God Almighty, lead your son as he obeys you. Amen.

I left Benin City and went to the city of Enugu to meet another great man of God, Archbishop Victor Onuigbo. Like my trip to Benin City, this trip was due to the fact I did not want to leave my comfort zone. I wanted to remain at Christ Chapel and serve the Lord there. I did not tell Archbishop Onuigbo that I had already met with my mentor. I repeated my story about how I had believed the Holy Spirit spoke to me about going to Scotland as a missionary. A missionary is either sent by a church or goes to a church in a foreign country to serve. Neither of these were my position or intentions. I was neither being sent by the church I belonged to nor going to serve in a church in Scotland. However, after listening to me, Archbishop Onuigbo told me, Son, I will tell your pastor, Dr Joda, to release you on his return from Dr Hagin’s camp meeting.

I quickly realized I now couldn’t get out of this situation. I spent a week in his church, travelling to crusades with him until my pastor had come back. Archbishop Onuigbo prayed and ordained me before I left for Lagos. When my pastor came back from the States, I told him how frustrated I was and that I had spoken to Archbishop Onuigbo. To my surprise, Dr Joda said, You are going to London with a team from the church to attend the Hampstead Bible Conference in March 1986.

    I said, Praise God.

At that time, we did not need visas to travel to the United Kingdom. Your passport was stamped at the airport on arrival. The church bought our tickets, and off we went. It was a wonderful one-week conference, and we were in London for two weeks. During this visit, as I talked with conference attendees and the brother I was staying with, I found out Scotland was part of the United Kingdom.

When I told them my story, what I heard shocked my bones. Brother, you don’t want to go to Scotland. There are no blacks there. It’s the coldest part of the UK, and there is no African food there. How would you survive?

I honestly did not know how to reply to that question. In my heart I was asking, What sin have I committed that the Lord is punishing me for? I could not remember any specific ones, so I started asking God for forgiveness for all my sins, both known and unknown ones. I meant every prayer from my heart, especially when I saw on the BBC news how snow was falling in Scotland! Before I arrived in London, I had not seen anything like snow. To watch the whole vegetation being covered with snow scared me.

When it was time to return to Nigeria, I went back with joy that I had been to London. I told my church brothers and sisters how wonderful my trip was. I showed them the certificate I received for attending the conference and I then went back to my church duties. While I was praying with a friend about two months later, I heard a voice say, I want you to go to Scotland. Oh no, I thought. I kept praying and tried to ignore the voice. In fact, I increased the
