When God Says Remember
()
About this ebook
Everyone has things to rememberbirthdays, anniversaries, the things to buy at the grocery store, meetings to attend, etc. Whats more, if someone of great personal significance asks that something be remembered, one is likely to go to great lengths not to forget. But what if God says to remember something?
In fact, God does say to remember many things. When God Says Remember seeks to challenge its readers with nine specific things that God wants to be remembered, as revealed in nine specific Bible verses. When God specifically commands that something be remembered as he does in these verses, it is most likely something vital. Harner explores what could happen if one fails to remember as God commanded and encourages that memories be recorded along the way.
In todays world, many lose sight of the importance of remembering and sharing the memories of the great works of God in the lives of biblical figures, as well as the modern-day great works of God in daily lives. When God Says Remember is intended to help its readers recall these important memories, engage in a deeper study of the Bible, and grow in the Christian walk.

To Maggie and Mel Rohr, who are now face-to-face with their Savior, in deep appreciation for opening your hearts and your home to me as a teenager so many years ago. I truly saw Christ in your lives.
FOREWORD
I first met Sandi in the fall of 1960 at Cedarville College. She was an incoming freshman, and I was a young professor of the Bible in my first year of teaching. Sandi was a student in two of my classes that year: Old Testament Survey and New Testament Survey.
For four years, we had direct and indirect contact with each other. She was a member of the class of 1964, and my wife, Gloria, and I were their class sponsors. We had a lot of fun together. Sandi proved to be a committed Christian young woman—bubbly, energetic, and outgoing. She was a genuine people person.
From these early days of our acquaintance, Sandi has demonstrated herself to be a loving, caring wife to her husband and a loving, caring mother to her children. In later years, she joined the Cedarville faculty, so we interacted at the collegiate level. Thus, I was honored and blessed that Sandi asked me to write the foreword for this book.
This book reflects her personality, her passion, her dedication to Christ, and her desire to serve others. Sandi will take you, the reader, to various portions of Scripture where our Lord calls upon us to remember what he has done for his people. She will then properly analyze these historical events and apply their truth and life principles to you. Sandi retells these stories in a fresh way, mixing them with anecdotes from her own life history, allusions to classic literature, and expositions of biblical doctrine. As she does this, she writes as she talks—with clarity and enthusiasm. I personally rejoice in what God has graciously done in and through the life of Sandi Welch Harner. I know that you will enjoy this book as much as I did. I highly recommend it to you.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
There are so many people to thank it’s difficult to know where to start. I would be remiss if I did not begin by thanking Maggie and Mel Rohr for being my spiritual parents, my mentors, my prayer warriors, and my friends. You can read about their influence in my life in chapter 8. After I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was sixteen years old, the Rohrs took me to their church, where I met a group of teenagers who taught me so much about being a new Christian. Our group was called TAC (The Answer Club). It would not be practical to list all the young people in that group who built into my life, but they know who they are.
After I graduated from high school, God worked in amazing ways to allow me to attend Cedarville College (now Cedarville University). I deeply appreciate my Bible professors who led me into a deeper understanding of the Bible and what it means to live a Christian life. I learned so much from these godly men: Dr. Robert Gromacki, Dr. James T. Jeremiah, Dr. George Lawlor, and Dr. Arthur Williams.
Attending church these many years has offered me the opportunity to learn from godly pastors who have faithfully taught the Word: Pastor Tom Fillinger, Pastor Dennis Henderson, Dr. James Grier, Dr. Floyd Elmore, Pastor Jim Riggle, and Pastor Greg Trout. Your messages have had a huge influence on me.
Every Sunday morning for ten weeks, a special group of people gathered in a small classroom at Faircreek Church as I taught the lessons in this book. Their attentive listening, participation in sharing their memories, and words of encouragement gave me the courage to submit this text for publication.
I am grateful to Carol Lee for her trained eye as an excellent editor. Your input greatly improved the text. I’m proud of you for having the courage to suggest excellent revisions—not an easy task when the author is your former professor.
A simple thank-you cannot express the love and appreciation that I have for my husband, Don. Throughout our marriage of forty-nine years, he has allowed me the freedom to be the person God made me to be. He has put up with seeing me at a computer doing what I love best: writing. Sometimes meals were not on time, laundry was not done, and the dining room table was cluttered with my laptop, papers, and books. Without his love and patience, this book would not exist.
