About this ebook

The battle is real. You are involved in a spiritual battle with the powers of darkness, whether you choose to believe it or not or whether you like it or not. The Bible tells us that Satan is constantly scheming to defeat Christians. This formidable foe, Satan, has a ministry to steal, kill, and destroy the Christian and Gods kingdom agendas. Whether we chose to accept this reality or not is our prerogative. We are living in a combat zone against Satans highly organized kingdom of darkness. There are human agents that are empowered by the kingdom of darkness to identify, prey, and cause great harm on unsuspecting Christians. You need not be afraid of the powers of darkness. You can rest, assured that our victory is already won in Jesus Christ. This story is about Mordecai Adams, who, as a child, was initiated and dedicated into Satanism. He spends his childhood days in an abnormal environment until his eighteenth birthday, when the powers of darkness began their reign of terror in his life, thus seeking to destroy him. Mordecai soon finds out that he was initiated and dedicated into occultism by a very close relative who sought power, wealth, and fame from a juju witch doctor, a man called Founder, a servant and priest of Chynzaimon, a manifestation of an evil personality. As Mordecai grew, he recognized that things are not going well for him. He is not able to establish and sustain meaningful relationships or hold down a job. His finances, mind, health, and personal properties are constantly under attack from this invisible enemy. After a series of spiritual battles, Mordecai soon realizes the source of his attacks and misfortunes. He embarks on a spiritual journey to defeat this invisible enemy, who continues to lurk and hide in mystery until his exposure. Upon knowing the identity of his enemy, Mordecai then recognizes his power and authority in Christ and soon thereafter defeats the enemy and obtains total and complete victory. As you read this book, it will help you aggressively and systematically claim your triumph by relying on the Almighty God and in the power of his word.

    INTRODUCTION

The writing of this book was not an easy task. In fact, it took a period of time to put the entire book together. One of the primary reasons it took so long was due to spiritual warfare - that is, fighting with an invisible and formidable foe. During the development of the book, there were months of inactivity. This was because the powers of darkness put up a fierce battle in preventing the Author from writing a material that would expose their works of darkness, deception, and cause their captives to obtain their freedom from bondage and bring glory to Christ. The spiritual attacks were continuous and unrelenting. The attacks were strong and many times, the Author would not be able to write a word. The evil powers tried so hard to stop the development of this material. Weapons of warfare from the enemy ranged from discouragement, despondency, deception, depression, dejection, despair, opposition, trickery, intrusive thoughts, contemplations of doom & death, physical and emotional fatigue to lack of mental focus and clarity. Attacks came from different sources. There were times when the Author could hardly put together a sentence or even read the Bible. The enemy would continuously bombard his mind with ungodly thoughts as a strategy of preventing the development of this work. There were phases in the attacks, and in each phase of the attack, the enemy had an irregular or diverse pattern of spiritual attack. Some of these attacks were direct and frontal, while others were covert and subtle. And it was quite difficult to predict the enemy’s next move. Sometimes, the attacks would come in waves; for days and even weeks on end until the mighty hands of the Lord would put a stop to the attacks, only to begin at a later time. That is why it was not a pre-defined mode of strategic attacks. The only way to counter the attacks was by spiritual warfare through the application of intense prayer.

No matter how much illustration is used by man to doctrinally explain and describe the Kingdom and Powers of Darkness, it is still difficult to totally explain the mystery surrounding Evil supernaturalism and its original state. God is absolutely incomprehensible, inconceivable, and cannot be totally understood by the finite mind. God has, however, given us some verses in the Holy Scriptures to work with, in the revelation and understanding of our immortal foe. This foe is the Devil, and his countless minions of depraved demons. God is Supernatural and incomprehensible yet He is apprehensible beyond our wildest imagination and understanding. Yet, in simplistic terms, He is easy to know by His attributes, His Creation, His Nature, and His Personalities (indicating the Plurality of the Divine Persons of His Godhead). While this is correct about God, Satan continues to hide in mystery and obscurity, but the Scriptures are sufficient enough to understand who he is and the potential threat he is to Christendom.

The story is about a man who has gone through a lot of ordeal against the powers of darkness. The names are fictitious and purely coincidental and do not represent any association with the Author.

The Author is thankful that he serves and worships a living God who transcends beyond man’s ability to totally comprehend Him. Our God, the Almighty Jehovah, also revealed to us as, The Son of God; aka, The Lord Jesus Christ is an awesome Being. And of course, my favorite name for Him is, "Awesome Wonder." The Author dedicates this book to his Master, the Lord Jesus Christ, who in Him dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

He trusts that this book will help whoever comes into contact with it in understanding and learning about the personality and the strategy of the Assassin of darkness, the serpent of old, who is cursed forever.

    Amen!

    PART ONE

    THE REVELATION OF DARKNESS

    CHAPTER 1

    THE DEMONIC ENCOUNTER

The scenery around the Nation’s capital of Washington D.C was bright and gorgeous, as Mordecai Adams peered through the windows of his balcony to see the splendor and glamour of beauty. Mordecai lived in a studio apartment, a few miles north of the White House. It was during the fall season. The leaves had just started to change color as winter rapidly approached. In those days, he was usually by himself. He lived alone. He enjoyed his company more than the company of others. One early morning, about 6:00a.m., he woke up, walked about his little studio apartment and returned to bed to continue a well-deserving sleep. He had stayed up late last night enjoying his 18th birthday with his friends. He had consumed a lot of wine during the night. He ate a lot of vanilla cake, his favorite. His birthday party had been a success. He was no longer a child, but now a man!

As he laid his head to sleep, Mordecai noticed that he was immediately pinned down by a couple of invisible hands. As he lay on his stomach with his head turned sideways, he realized that his head was pinned down by a couple of invisible powerful hands, while the rest of his upper torso was pinned down by supernatural weights. This was a spiritual experience. It was very real. His eyes were continuously shut as he lay on the bed. When he tried to raise himself from the bed, he encountered a powerful resistance. The resistance was so powerful that it practically pushed and held him down, as if to restrain his every movement.

He was very shocked and frightened because he had never experienced this kind of event in his life. He knew that he had never dabbled in the occult. He was not a Satan worshipper; neither had he ever dabbled in the mystic arts, witchcraft, or sorcery. He also knew that he was God-fearing and it was not in him to get involved in satanic activities. Again, he tried to raise his face, as if attempting to see who was holding him down against his will. Again, he felt strong resistance. This power was so strong that it would require a bulldozer or forklift to lift these invisible hands off the side of his face and his upper body. This went on for several minutes, and sad to say, with no progress.

Finally, he decided to use a different strategy. He tried to outwit this invisible intruder that pinned him down against his will. His strategy was this; he pretentiously relaxed his body, and soon after, felt this unwelcome intruder relax his grip on his body. Then before the intruder knew what Mordecai was about to do next, he pushed himself up quickly, hoping to catch the intruder off guard and unawares. Resistance, more resistance, and this time with a more incredible force, the creature (intruder) shoved his face down into the surface of the mattress. Ouch! That hurt, cried Mordecai. Since that did not work, perhaps conversation with this invisible intruder might work. He tried to speak to this intruder, hoping that he might bargain his freedom by engaging in a sympathetic and reasonable dialogue.

As Mordecai tried to speak to the invisible intruder, he immediately reacted by muzzling Mordecai’s mouth with what appeared to be an incredible massive hand. As Mordecai tried to speak, this person who was now on top of him wrapped his invisible fingers around Mordecai’s mouth. Mmmmm! Mmmmm!! Mmmmm, muffled Mordecai under the breath of his lips. Eeeech! Eeeech!! Eeeech, wheezed Mordecai, under his lips. No progress. The invisible hands clamped down hard on his mouth with incredible pressure. Mordecai began to feel faint and weary, and for the first time during this episode, intense fear crept into his heart. His eyes were wide open. As he looked at his surroundings, he noticed that it was dark around him. Great fear paralyzed his heart, and his mind began to race round and round with no possibility of stopping. His heart heaved into deep sighs as he felt the hotness of the intruder’s breath. He relaxed his body again and stopped struggling. As he did this, the invisible intruder relaxed his strong grip on him. He was no match for this intruder.

Mordecai was a strong man, with wide shoulders and an impressive upper body that would intimidate most men, but on this day, he was totally at the mercy of the more powerful intruder. He decided to outwit the intruder again by attempting to pretend that he had succumbed to the fate that now awaited him. He began to drop cold sweats, as he feared that the inevitable was about to happen. The intruder was bent on killing him! Mordecai reasoned within himself. He would attempt one more try. Uuuup! Uuuup!! Nothing! Again he tried, Uuuup! Uuuup!! Forget it, exclaimed Mordecai. He decided to recline in defeat. He was simply no match for this invisible intruder. The intruder’s strength was comparable to a hundred men! His heart pounded fast and fast as fear and anxiety choked his entre body. Pfffffpp! Pfffffpp!! Pfffffpp!!! He puffed! By now he was fully awake, though his eyes were still shut. He was totally aware of his surroundings.

Again, Mordecai relaxed his body, hoping that he would maneuver the intruder with a surprise move of his own. Again, he pinned Mordecai down to the mattress. This time, he noticed something chilling. He heard the intruder laugh. This laughter was not the type of laughter that a normal human being would utter. It was totally and completely evil. Why? The pitch and noise of the laughter was satanic in nature. It sounded like the shrieking of a tormented and demented person. Another way to describe it would be the cackling of a hungry hyena. There was no pause in the laughter. Rather, it rang out continuously as the clatter of a machine gun.

He was having a hard time trying to outwit this intruder. The intruder was indeed smarter, stronger and cleverer than him. He knew in his heart that he could not defeat this creature. He was simply too strong. As the minutes ticked by, something quite interesting happened. He felt yet another pair of hands on his back. These hands were also invisible, but much smaller. So now, there were two pairs of hands holding him down against his will. The latter pair of hands, as Mordecai realized, was indeed smaller, but they packed incredible strength.

As he continued to struggle and fight for his release, he heard voices in the spirit saying, No you don’t, Hee hee hee hee, Ha ha ha ha, Hold him down, You think you are very smart, and Oh, you think you are strong and clever. It is a lie today, you are not going anywhere. We have you now, and you belong to us

It was at this moment that Mordecai heard the other invisible person’s voice. It was a softer voice. Whereas the voice of the first creature was throaty, this other voice was that of a higher pitch, of a demented feminine and maniacal voice. It sounded like a couple of demons laughing right after they had succeeded in terrorizing a person. He could tell that they enjoyed what transpired that early morning. He could also tell that they waited for him to close his eyes and go into sleep. He also noticed that the hands of the first intruder were somewhat darker in complexion and hairy in appearance, while the hands of the second creature were lighter in complexion than and not as thick as the first intruder. The second pair of hands was feminine in appearance. Regardless of size, they packed a great punch and were hairy and boney in appearance.

Both of these creatures would occasionally have side conversations over his body as well as pin him down with incredible force. He tried to make out what they were saying, but he was unable to focus because he feared for his life. He continued to struggle, yet to no avail. Suddenly, he was instantly released from their hold. He twitched his body, shook his legs and hands and came to his senses. He awoke, opened his eyes and looked around. There was nobody there. They had departed as quickly as they had come. He got up and thought about the events that had occurred, only to shudder at the mere thought that certain creatures had made an attempt on his life. But this incident did not happen in the physical realm. It happened while he was sleeping. This was very strange. He had never encountered such an experience since the day he was born. He pondered on the reason why such an incident had happened to him on his 18th birthday. For the remainder of the morning, he chose not to go back to sleep, rather, he sat up and reflected on the incredible events that had transpired several minutes before.

Throughout the years, Mordecai had been receiving some supernatural dreams, but was not able to actually understand their meanings or why God would choose to speak to him in dreams. He had been religious all of his life. What does he mean by religious? By religious, he means that he was spiritually bankrupt with respect to the revelation of Christ in his life. As a baby, Mordecai was baptized in an Anglican Church and grew up attending church whenever it was necessary to do so. But he never really understood anything pertaining to the word of God. He had come to know about Jesus, merely as a historical and mythical figure. He understood the essence of Christmas and the festivities of feasting and family gathering during these occasions, but all this meant nothing to him, to say the least.

As an adult, he continued to attend church and was involved in the ritualistic events of being a good Anglican. But still, there was a void in his heart. He would go to church and sit and listen to sermons, but he did not spiritually understand the Word of God. It was in 1986 that he first tried to seek and know God. He did this because of some spiritual problems that he had been experiencing for some years. It was sometime in 1986, that he had, through conversation and public knowledge, heard about Jesus Christ. Please understand that he had known about Jesus Christ before 1986, but he only knew of Him from what he had heard and seen on television. He knew all these years that Jesus Christ was a great Man, an outstanding mythical figure, and a historic personality that had done something dramatic in His time.

In the years that followed, Mordecai continued to go through these spiritual attacks. Sometimes, the attacks would be sporadic and other times, it would be very frequent. Usually, the attacks would occur when Mordecai was by himself, after a long hard day at the workplace. He would return to an empty apartment studio fearing the events that would unfold during the night. After a period of time, he noticed that the attacks were mostly done at night when he was in bed and asleep. Without notice, he would feel an invisible presence engulf him to begin another grueling struggle with the powers of darkness. Mordecai continued to suffer these assaults in silence. He could not tell anyone of his experiences. After all, who could he open up to and tell his ordeal? He was a very private man, young, and reclusive. About eighteen years old at the time, these attacks started and left a scar on his spiritual life. If he attempted to tell someone, they would think that he was schizophrenic. He knew he was not schizophrenic and decided to keep his ordeal a secret until the appropriate and right time.

    CHAPTER 2

    THE HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

It was October 1st, a few years after independence in a small eastern town in Nigeria. Nigeria bustled with jubilation at the then independence activities of the Nation from the British. The freedom and independence movement reached a frenzy of excitement. Folks walked about in the hot afternoon discussing the smooth transition of political power from the British Government to the Commonwealth of Nigeria. Mordecai was born in Port Harcourt, in the Eastern part of Nigeria. This area was mostly inhabited by one of the majorities of the Nigerian people. These people were predominantly known as the Igbos (pronounced Ibos). The Igbo are located in the South Eastern part of Nigeria, in West Africa.

Tradition and excavations in that part of the country have indicated that the Igbos have been in this geographical area since the ninth century of the Christian era, though there is nothing to suggest that it could not have been earlier. Iron smiting was a highly skilled occupation that was exclusive to certain communities within the Igbo populace. History has suggested that the most famous of the Igbo smiths are those from Awka (pronounced Orka), east of Onitsha, who it has been said first obtained iron (ore) from the Igbo smelters of Udi, east of Awka. In those days, the Europeans traded with these Igbo smiths and smelters to the extent that large shipments of iron ore were shipped to Europe.

This is where Mordecai’s humble beginnings originated. Today, these Igbos are mostly Christians by faith, but there are many who are still heathens to this day and age. By heathens, it means that there are some that are animists - persons who indulge in anti-Christian activities.

Mordecai was born to Eli Nnia Chendo and Zhara Aisha Al-Hassan. His father was an Igbo, while his mother was a Hausa, though in Igbo land, communities are geographically identified as central, western, eastern, northern and southern Igbos. And depending on which area of Igbo land, communities spoke the same main language but there are different dialects spoken amongst the different Igbo peoples. Mordecai’s mother was from Kaduna, while his father was from the central Igbo land. Both spoke the same Hausa language, but with different dialects. It was in Port Harcourt that Zhara gave birth to Mordecai. Mordecai was the sixth of ten children born to Eli and Zhara. His mother was a very lovely woman who grew up in a Muslim home. Zhara fell in love with Eli and ran away with Eli to Port Harcourt because the Al-Hassan family refused that she would marry a South Eastern Igbo Christian. Zhara was born in Kaduna, in Northern Nigeria to a Police Officer and housewife. Both parents met each other while Eli was serving at the Kaduna Police Command in Kaduna. At the time, Zhara grew up in the Police barracks as a normal teenager, but under strict Islamic tradition, she was hardly allowed to interact with people. She gave birth to six boys and four girls, with Mordecai being the fifth boy. In those days, many women married very young and started raising families early. As it is with some Igbo tradition, Mordecai assumed his grandfather’s first name as his surname, hence becoming Mordecai Adams. He could have chosen Eli or Chendo as his surname, rather he chose Adams in remembrance of his grandfather, who was the King of their ancestral homeland. He was named Mordecai after a man who was Eli’s best friend, Mordecai Levy. He was a Jewish industrialist who had lived in Nigeria for 40 years. He died a year after Mordecai Adams was born. He died of heart failure. Mordecai never knew his godfather.

Mordecai’s father left the Police force and became a businessman who did a variety of things shortly after Nigeria’s independence from British colonial rule. In 1967, Nigeria went through a devastating three-year civil war that left the country in shambles. The civil war was a consequence of the Igbos of the east wanting to secede from the rest of Nigeria, from what was feared to be an Islamic and Northern domination by the Hausa-Fulani tribes of Northern Nigeria.

This was Africa’s first civil war, and it brought the Biafra Igbos of the east in total defeat. The Igbos succumbed and capitulated to the Nigerian troops. It is reported that three million Igbos died during this war, either due to malnutrition, disease, or hunger. This was the first reported human genocide in African history. During the war, a lot of people were displaced. This caused a lot of the Igbos to flee from the onslaught of the Nigerian troops. In the thickest times of the war, Mordecai remembers his mother carrying him and running into the bushes fleeing from the Federal troops. Life during the Nigerian civil war was brutal for the Igbos. Majority of the children were malnourished and suffered from diverse diseases that resulted in the deaths of many children. Mordecai recalls distinctly, like it was yesterday, as he stood in a long line of malnourished children waiting to receive some milk. He was one of the many malnourished children with swollen bellies as flies circled them while standing and waiting in long queues to get a cup of milk. This went on for thirty months until the war came to an abrupt end in 1970.

In 1970, Eli Nnia Chendo took the whole family and went back to Kaduna, in Northern Nigeria, where they lived in a bedroom. After the war, many families were trying to put their lives back together, and this was one time when life was tough for the entire Chendo family. In Kaduna, the room the Chendos lived in was so small that a curtain was used to divide the room between Mordecai’s parents and the rest of the family. Sometime after the war, Mordecai and his family moved into an apartment. His parents were not serious spirit-filled Christians. Zhara, his mother, a Muslim, later converted to Christianity and changed her name to Sarah. They knew about God, but were not in any way churchgoers. Though Mordecai was baptized in an Anglican church, he and the rest of his siblings were not raised in any denomination. His parents, Eli and Zhara (Sarah) were not active members of any local church in Kaduna, and as such, he and his siblings were not raised in an atmosphere where God and Jesus were the norm. This continued for many years, until one day in 1973, Zhara left Eli because of infidelity. Mordecai, at the time, was nine years old and as you can imagine, growing up without Zhara was tough and hard. His father, Eli Nnia Chendo assumed the role of both mother and father. Eli tried his best to provide for Mordecai and his siblings, still, there was a great void in the family. The absence of Zhara (Sarah) made it very difficult to have a normal childhood. For ten years after that, Zhara would not see her ten children. A few years later, it was reported that Zhara had remarried a retired teacher with five grown children of Hausa-Fulani extraction. She changed her name back to Zhara and converted back to Islam. A few years later, it was reported that she had left her second husband and moved to Kano, another city in Northern Nigeria. She opened a store and started her own fabric and textile business. She was not heard from again for a number of years until Mordecai finished his university education.

Eli became outrageously wealthy, famous, and powerful overnight. This new transformation of Eli was seen by so many. Friends and family wondered how he had attained so much wealth overnight. It was phenomenal, from rags to riches. Everyone wanted to be associated with him so that they could find out how he made his money. He had connections with Federal, State and Local government officials. He was a known man in the country. He courted several beautiful women in high places. Mordecai’s father sent him to the best schools in Nigeria. He excelled in elementary, primary and secondary schools (equivalent to High school). He was always in the top three, and most of the times, was always first in the class. Some of his happy days were in secondary school. He had few friends, and one of his favorite activities was to play soccer and table tennis. In 1976, he was sent to a secondary school in Lagos, an all-boys elite secondary school in Lagos, Nigeria. Five years later, he graduated and was sent by his father to the United States to further his education.

A few months later, in late 1981, Mordecai arrived in the United States of America for his university education. Upon reaching the USA, he quickly adapted and assimilated into the American culture. As he got older and matured into manhood, he had always known and revered God, but never really knew His Son, Jesus Christ. It was sometime during the year of 1986 that he came to know Jesus Christ as Savior. Even though he had come to know about Jesus Christ, he really did not know Him intimately as Lord and Savior of mankind. Mordecai breezed in and out of church periodically and sometimes would not attend church for months and even years. He knew and felt in his heart that he was a good person and that he would not go to Hell if he suddenly died. This is one of the greatest deceptions that have become inbred in people; that as long as you were a good person, obeyed the Ten Commandments, attended church, and when he or she dies, they would go to Heaven.

And so, during the next decade, he was a good person, obeyed some of the Ten Commandments, attended church whenever he felt like it, and seriously believed that he would make it to Heaven when and if his mortality was short-lived. But during that decade, he also lived an ungodly life. He also prayed when he felt like it or when it was necessary to do so. Sometimes, he prayed to God for a job, good health and for loved ones. Yet, there was an empty hole in his heart that needed to be filled. And so for the next ten years, Mordecai drifted from God and found himself in the world with no spiritual agenda, and definitely without the Lord.

There was a tugging in his heart for repentance, but he did not know how or what to do to be filled with the presence of God. He did not have a complete Bible. He did have the New Testament book that was given to him the first time he attended church in the United States. The year was 1986, and it was in late spring or early summer. The church was called Christ Church, located on Massachusetts Avenue, Washington, D.C. Mordecai could not recall the specific details of how he found himself going to Christ Church on that particular Sunday morning, but he sure was there. He could not remember who referred him to this church, but nevertheless, he did attend the church and was given a book at the end of the service.

Mordecai sat through the entire service and listened to the sermon, and wrote on the book that was given to him by Aloysius Bandera, a Cameroonian gentleman that invited him to the church, these exact words:

Born again means new life in Jesus. Jesus has come into my life and I am a new creation. Through his blood I have been washed and cleansed of my sins. His death on the cross was for ME. In Jesus I have everlasting life. I have a new beginning, the old life is dead and I am a new creation. (Faith comes by hearing; Romans 10:17). Old things have passed away and new things have come to light. My name is written down in Heaven. And I am saved by the blood of Jesus. Jesus died for me so that I might have life (1986). — Mordecai Maitama Adams
