    Foreword

Many of us struggle to maintain relationships with those who live far away from us. We live in different places, and the hours of our days are spent working, in family activities, or in leisure entertainment. We fleetingly think of those who have had a major influence on our lives and even say, I should give him a call, or I really miss the times we had together. Because we are busy, distracted, or assume that we should be able to handle things by ourselves, we sometimes have the same haphazard approach to our relationship with God.

In her book, Jean gives us a graphic example of what a daily relationship with God should look like. In it, she intimately reveals her personal responses to God’s Word and to His Spirit. This is much more than your usual devotional guide. It is one person’s journey to know Christ intimately, to love the one who loves her, and to learn what gives Him pleasure. The context of her daily life is familiar to us all. When we read her sweet, prayerful responses to Jesus, they will gently urge us to desire and pursue a closer relationship with Him.

To have walked with Jean through the days, months, and years of companionship with the Lord was a privilege. Her path serves as an encouragement to us. We all have the same opportunity to expectantly open the Word of God and to record the lessons it teaches us, as we live in our circumstances, whether they are happy, sad, frustrating, or rewarding. God will meet you as you open your life to him. Accept the challenge. The rewards, which come from companionship with God almighty, are priceless.

    Acknowledgments

I wish to thank God, from the depths of my heart and with my entire being for His faith and trust in me to receive the inspirations in this book and to pass them on to you. It has been my privilege to record them. If it were not for God, these inspirations would not have been written. The words came so easily. I listened to God and wrote what He said. Little did I realize, back in 1972, this experience would become a lifelong adventure I would cherish every day!

I wish to thank my husband, Joe, for loving me and allowing me to work many hours to turn these inspirations into a book.

I want to thank my children, Matt, Bud, and Angie.

I also want to thank my grandchildren, Taryn, Heather, Casie, Matthew, Ryan, Jason, Taylor, and Paul.

Thank you, my sisters, Arlene, Janice, and Marilyn and my cousin Ilene for your faith in me as I pursued this adventure.

Thank you, Carol Daur, Doris Svoboda, Lori Fields, Pastor Rick, and his wife Linda—my friends who have given me the encouragement to get on with this project,

To God be the glory for the things He has done and has yet to do. Amen!

With a grateful heart and in His name,

    Introduction

    Sweet Inspirations …

I chose this title for the book the Lord helped me to write. The word sweet means delightful or pleasant. The word inspirations means inspired. God truly gave me the desire and inspiration to write this book!

I began my personal relationship with Him at the age of ten, when He invited me to seek Him with all my heart, mind, and soul. I started my spiritual journey as a new believer when I received my first Bible. Since that time, I have been so grateful that Jesus loves me and has invited me to join Him on this passionate journey.

His Word always fulfills me, inspires me, encourages me, and brings me peace. His Word tells me that He has a plan for me. He wants me to prosper and not to fail (Jeremiah 29:11–14). Pretty cool, right?

I began to write this book in 1972. It was awesome how He gave me the words to write down. I was truly humbled in a very loving way.

God blessed me in so many ways as I wrote this book. The things I learned were timely in my life. The Lord showed me He knew how to quiet my soul, to calm me in the midst of any trial, and to shed light on any darkness. He so vividly revealed which path to take, when to hold my tongue (which, at times, has been a huge blessing), how to move on, and how vital it is to wait on Him! He has given me a different style of writing His words; sometimes you will see these….between the words, this is a moment to reflect on what you are reading. He has so much to share with us. When you read the part in(‘italics’;) this is my response to the message, the heart is for your response’s.While writing this book; God taught me to stop trying to analyze everything. He showed me how to take time to quiet down, look up to Him, and to pray. I learned that living His way was always best.

Believe me, His sweet inspirations are good for a lifetime! They give me hope during my day and for the future. Little by little, I learn how to trust Him, more and more. I am so grateful that God talks with me and is, even now, waiting for our next chat. It’s nice to know, as much as I eagerly wait
