About this ebook

This literary work by MAGDALENE OTUNSHA ATTAH reflects the purity of thought and the innocence by which a child sees through the environment. Magdalene Otunsha Attah, at the young age of 12 has translated her short life experiences into a book AMARI and the PRINCESS, and that puts her in the enviable league of Child Prodigies with an eye for the future.
The book, AMARI AND THE PRINCESS is a compilation of short stories, thematic in structure and captivating in its simplicity. The setting, the rural simplicity of a village life shows her passion not only for literature but for life in its purest natural form free from the manipulations of modern life.
This voracious reader leaves no one in doubt that this is just her beginning and that she has a lot more to offer to the literary world in the fullness of time.
Amari and the Princess is a story of the folly in treachery, reward for humility, and how steadfast honesty eventually led to the triumph over poverty by the lowly.
The book is a must read for every child and any parent desirous of raising a complete child.

Magdalene Attah

A Nigerian twelve year old girl, Magdalene Oboshi Attah is the author. A voracious reader with reading and writing skills far above the standard expected of a junior secondary school student. Magdalene Attah has probably read more books than any child of her age. She completed the manuscript before her eleventh birthday. In her own words, “My motivation to write this book came when some of my friends started writing short stories and they brought them to me to critique, but I told them frankly their efforts were not up to standard and mere childish writings. Some of them were offended by my opinion, even though it was candid, and went ahead to challenge me to show I can write better, by saying, “if you claim to know so much, why can’t you write one” I saw this as a fair challenge and had to start writing the story of Amari and the Princess. Although the story is a fiction, I see part of it as reality in the life of many children. And I believe this book will be successful like Chinua Achebe’s Chike and the River” When asked what her future ambitions are, she replied, “to become a successful writer like Professor Wole Soyinka and Chimamanda Adichie. Magdalene is the 4th child of a family of five children including two brothers and 2 sister and although one of the youngest in the family, her older siblings rely on her for support with spelling tricky words and other literally skills. Magdalene’s older brother is also a successful pop star in Nigeria.

    A feeling

Many, many years ago in the savannah kingdom of Obigabiwa there was a girl called Amari, who was a very good girl. She was also very kind and, most of all, she was humble. She woke up one morning feeling uneasy and uncomfortable. She brushed her teeth, took her bath and walked around the house as she usually did. Then she stopped at the garage door. It was the place her family kept their treasures and old precious stuff.

Amari entered the garage and saw her mother’s maiden dress—these dresses were used for the maiden festival. Amari wished she
