About this ebook

A Fish Out of the Water chronicles the tale of a fish named Enoch who left his school. Although he faced ridicule from the other fish, he went in search of greater knowledge. Enoch was not aware that the principal of his school had told his teachers not to interfere with his training; however, most of the teachers disobeyed the principals mandate.

After departing the school, Enoch undergoes a transformation into a human via a mysterious character. He is granted three days to begin a quest for knowledge. Like a toddler, Enoch had to learn how to walk. As he begins his journey, Enoch supernaturally discovers that the stranger gave him certain gifts to complete his quest.

Satan tempts him to bow down and worship him. Enoch faced him on two different occasions before going up into the third heaven. Enoch learns the truth of the meaning of wisdom and understanding from his creator.

A Fish out of the Water - Terrance M. Tracy

    PROLOGUE

A FIFTEENTH CENTURY POET JOHN Donne wrote a poem No Man Is an Island, as I was reading this poem the verses that stuck in my head were the opening verses, no man is an island, entire of itself, every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. In the opening verse, the poet is relating as to how our actions affect one another. The choices we make have far-reaching consequences that are more than one can realize. The choices we make have a positive or negative influence on society and affect everyone. To ignore wisdom with understanding gives birth to negative benefits that go down in history as evil; nevertheless, it is who we are as an eternal soul.

In the book titled, The Works of Josephus," translated by William Whiston, A. M. Chapter one section four: Josephus writes. But while all living creatures had one language, at that time the serpent, which then lived together with Adam and his wife, showed an envious disposition, at his supposal of their living happily and in an obedience to the commands of God. It would not take a great leap of faith to believe that Adam could communicate orally with all creatures in God’s creation. When Lucifer is cast to the earth, it would change the whole paradigm. In God’s creations whether in our solar system, universe, or galaxy God holds everything together by absolute laws that remain constant. For an example, if just one planet moves one degree out of its natural course, gravitational changes will have an adverse effect on the solar system causing disruption on planet Earth. When one leaves his or her environment and tries to live life foreign to his or her nature, serious difficulties and unsurmountable circumstances will occur every time because you are trying to live in an environment that you are not supposed to live in.

In Emerson’s essay on Self Reliance, he talks about one’s thoughts he quotes. To believe your own thought, to believe what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men. Our thoughts are just fleeting glimpses that inspire us to write what is in our heart to be true. We often time dismiss those thoughts for any various reasons. Inspiration of thoughts often passes through our brains at times when we are too busy to write them down. On the other hand, we try to re-create the inspiration by our own will. However, when the inspiration has grown cold, it is difficult to re-create the original inspiration, especially while being too preoccupied with other matters; one cannot give the original inspiration of thought an effort worthy to convey its worth.

I had one of those Emerson moments when a glimpse of a thought began to ruminate in my mind of how humanity precisely is a fish out of the water when one tries to blend in another environment or even a foreign country not knowing the customs and traditions of that society. Many missionaries have lost their lives to bring God’s word unto the natives in the remote parts of our rain forest, and non-Christian nations. The sacrifice of their lives was for a noble cause, to bring the gospel to all nations. Nevertheless, for the misguided individuals, the assumption that he or she are doing God’s work to earn a reward from God, in reality it was for their own gain, due to the rapacity of man. The Spanish Inquisition and the Crusades truly made Jesus Christ a fish out of the water, by use of torture and other cruelties along with the bloodshed in the name of Christ. For that reason, I have a low opinion of the terms, manifest destiny, eminent domain, or the act of shunning someone for the reason he or she are of a different faith in the body of Christ. Shunning is not a coarse Jesus would not have one take.

I began to write a satirical poem about a fish out of the water to demonstrate the repercussions that occur when one leaves their environment to seek greater knowledge. The main character of the poem is a fish whose is Enoch. I used the name Enoch, because Enoch in Genesis walked with God and God took him. I have often wondered about that awesome experience, walking with God in a relationship on a plane, which we as a mortal being cannot even conceive of the intimacy of that relationship. There is an ancient manuscript, The Book of Enoch, some quotes are in the epistle of Jude concerning the angels that left their first estate with God however; the ancient writings are suspect as being unsupportive in scripture.

The poem I wrote inspired me to write a definitive story about a fish that left his school to seek greater knowledge than the school of fish could offer him.

A Fish out of the Water

Once a fish left his school and soon felt like a fool. Out of the water he boastfully did proclaim Wisdom is the dish that I should be fed. However, someone old and wise he surmised would help him exercise his plan to broaden his horizons; knowledge would be his college. Washed ashore because he would live no more for it was not ordained for fish to remain out of the sea. There he met a mysterious man who gave him a few days to complete his plan. It is common knowledge known to all, if you were in trouble give your attorney a call; it would be nice to get advice.

The attorney found made his head go around, for out of the attorney’s mouth the advice did not break the ice. To seek someone wise take my advice if you want to get somewhere, look to the fowl of the air. The fish thought he does not care. Therefore, he left the office in despair. It appears to our fish out of water was not any smarter, therefore he began to take a stand. My young mind will be left behind if I do not find a source to stay the course: for wisdom is the key that will unlock the lock of life’s mysteries for me to see. From there he
