Musings - Ravindran K. Malayil
1 Bud
Nip not the bud
But, think you a bit
What’s a bud?
But a sprouting new life!
It’s a bud that retains the link
That runs through the generations
The heredity that
Passes on the legacy!
2 Life is like that
Have a friend and
You have the wealth
Have a work and
You have the bread
Have a tree and
You have the fruit
Have a cause and
You have the caused-
Hence the talk of
Cause and effect!
Life is but a chain
of cause and effect
effort and result
endeavour and achievement
Fame and wealth can
make ego soar
clouding the truth
and real worth
Lest you forget
must you ponder
Health is the best
and greatest possession.
3 Moorings
Loneliness
that pinches and pierces
the softness of mental fabric
which
even in the normal
uninterrupted
serene
flow of life itself
is but a myth
But,
to be a Robionson Crusoe
in the midst of the din and dust
whilst jostling with the
frenzied crowds in the mad rush
- which alas! takes none
anywhere though -
is benumbing, bemusing.
With none with an iota of love
unadulterated affection
a semblance of sincerity
to lean to
the tears dry up unshed!
The futile pedantic sojourn
to bitterness
to disillusionment
is-may be-a curse;
a punishment for the
past sins accumulated!
To put the mask of unaffectedness
while wincing
and
struggling not to flinch
has become
the real test of
endurance
which can’t last for ev’r
the limit,
the tither’s end
is closer at hand
I sense it
I feel it
the choking
strangulating
agony
is the liberator-
perhaps!
4 Open Sesame
See not the clouds that collect from the far off
See but the sun and the shine that you bask in
See not the past and the pains and tears all
See but the future, the boons and the laughter
See not the darkness the night does herald in
See but the day that’s dawning before long.
Hear not the cries and the screams of the mourning
Hear but the music the birds are all humming
Hear not the lies and tales of shenanigans
Hear but the glory the truthful regale in
Hear not the harridans, the jealous and the ones proud
Hear but the simple, the humble, loving too.
Feel not the thorns and
