    Preface

It is with a sense of urgency and mixed feelings that I have compiled this collection of poems and songs dedicated to My Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, whose servant I am delighted to be, to proclaim to the world about His coming to earth. These poems and songs have been written over a period of thirty years. Through this collection I bear witness to the fact that I serve a living Saviour, Jesus Christ, who walked on this earth. He is the Son of Almighty God, is still alive and will soon be returning to the earth for His Church of believers, those who have received Him as their Personal Saviour, some of whom have already passed away and others still waiting for this great day when this unprecedented event popularly known as the Rapture will take place, when millions of people all over the world, dead and alive, will be raptured into glory.

Jesus Christ came to this world over two thousand years ago, not to establish a religion. He came for the whole of Mankind, to save us from eternal Hell which has been the lot of Mankind ever since the first Adam committed the sin of disobedience in the Garden of Eden, that separated Man from God forever. The Bible says ‘The wages of Sin is Death but the gift of God is eternal life’. God had not created Man that he should die but to worship Him. Unfortunately, through the machination of His arch-enemy, Satan, Man has been misled in the course of his life on earth. As it was not possible for man to enter into the presence of the Holy God after his life on earth, God sent His own Son, Jesus Christ who is God Himself giving Himself the name ‘JESUS’, a name so powerful that even the demons in Hell tremble on hearing the Name.

Jesus came to the world with the full purpose of achieving God’s plan for the redemption of mankind which would enable man to go into the Holy Presence of God. This could be done only by Jesus taking upon Himself the sin of Mankind. He bore the brunt of all we human beings have to bear because of our sinful nature. He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our sins was upon Him, by His stripes we are healed. He took all our sins along with Him and died on the Cross. He went to Hell, preached to the spirits in the prison (1Peter 3:9), took the keys of Hades and rose again the third day, thus conquering death and opening the gates of Heaven. Therefore, He has become the Only Way to reach God and Eternity. He speaks to everyone who believes in Him and will stop to listen to His Voice, irrespective of caste, creed, colour, nationality, for He is God of all mankind. The Good News of Salvation and Eternal life which He offers to everyone who believes in Him, has spread throughout the world and is even now spreading to all the nooks and the corners of the world, fulfilling the prophecy that when this happens His Second Coming is at hand. Therefore it is up to us to get prepared to go with Him when He comes. We have to be alert and not be side-tracked by the prince of this world, the devil whose associates are all over this world, enticing man away from God.

This collection is the fruit of the call I received in 1978 when I was asked to write and tell the world that Jesus was coming soon. Though I made several attempts to publish the book, I realized that it was my personal decision. Therefore I waited patiently till the fulfillment of the time –God’s time which is being unfolded before our very eyes. This collection is in three parts. The first written between 1978 and 1988, ‘Song of Love’ which I had planned to publish earlier but could not, due to financial constraints. This has a foreword from my previous School Principal Rev Vempala. The second part consists of ‘Praise and Worship’ and the other poems which the Holy Spirit helped me to write during the period 2000-2008. The third part includes my testimony. I am only a tool in the Hands of the Holy Spirit who is here on earth doing the work that Jesus did through many servants of God, until the last of the person in the Body of Christ will be saved and then be raptured.

As the Lord has laid upon my heart the necessity of publishing all the poems hence this three part book with my testimony to conclude it. The end times are here; as sure as you and I are alive, Jesus may come any day for His Church. So all believers are warned to stay alert and watch and wait prayerfully, doing the work entrusted to them.

    Foreword

Mrs. Juliet Josephus began her teaching career as a Tutor in English in All Saints College, Trivandrum. It was later when she was working in the Breeks Schools at Ootacamund, Nilgiris, that she got the call to write for the Lord. Seven of the poems included in this book were first published in 1988 in her book entitled ‘God’s Love to Me’.

‘Song of Love’ is a collection of poems and songs written in adoration of God. Primarily based on the Bible, the poems also breathe of the writer’s personal relationship and fellowship with God.

The poems include the Birth, the Teachings, the Crucifixion, the Death, the Resurrection and also the Second Coming of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. They deal with the Divine Plan of human salvation as revealed in the Bible and carried out by the Incarnation, Death and Resurrection of our Lord.

The book carries the message of Salvation and the free gift of eternal life to all who accept Him. ‘A Song of Praise’ which winds up the collection, is suffused with love for the Lord who brought eternal life for mankind by His Supreme Sacrifice on the Cross. The ecstatic experience of love that the author had gone through at moments of her union with the Lord must have exuded in verse form in these poems. We are made to share this ineffable experience when we go through them.

I am thrilled to join Mrs. Juliet Josephus in submitting this book at the Feet of Jesus, Whose Death on the Cross was the greatest demonstration of Love, this world has ever witnessed.

    PART - I

    SONG OF LOVE.

(A COLLECTION OF POEMS AND SONGS)

    Written between 1978-1988.

"My heart is overflowing with a good theme,

I recite my composition concerning the King,

My tongue is the pen of a ready writer."

    Psalm 45:1

    SONG OF LOVE

    Song of Love,

    I hear it always,

    Flowing sweetly everywhere,

‘Tis the song of love that was wrought

    On the Cross at Calvary.

    Song of Love,

    All-embracing love,

Showers of love from Heaven above,

For the One who showered it down

Came from Heaven to sing to me.

Thus His Voice spake on the mountain,

    ‘Love thy neighbour as thyself,’

Greater love can never be seen

Than when he lays his life for you.’

    And He bore upon Himself

All our sins that we might live,

Thus He sacrificed His Own Life

Stood the greatest test of love.

Song of Love, it was for my sin,

Came He down to die for me,

Oh, I feel it, know for sure now,

He came down, so I can live.

O, I hear that sweet, sweet song of love…

    IF I FOLLOW JESUS

I imagine what it will be

    If I follow Jesus

    Here on earth.

My life here, it will not be

    A garden of roses

    As in heaven.

No moon, no sun need shine up there,

    The glory of God

    Lights up all.

Storms may assail, tempest may rage,

    Despair and sorrow hinge

    My life through.

    But through these dark clouds

    A light strikes my mind,

    A wonderful peace prevails.

A mind so calm, amidst toil and strife,

Up there My Saviour I see,

    Beckoning me.

    ‘This is your home eternal,

Never a tear, never a fear,

    Hereafter you ever torment!’

Blissfully I wait the day to see,

    My Saviour standing before me,

    Pointing up to Heaven above.

While life on earth slowly ebbs from me

And becomes but a faded memory,

Whispers, ‘Come, my child, follow me.

    To your mansion prepared above;’

So I follow, leaving earthly ties,

No more am I, an orphaned child.

    GOLDEN DAY OF VICTORY.

    Golden day of victory,

That’s the Day I wait to see,

    Jesus comes triumphantly,

With His angelic Host from high.

    Satan cannot harm me now,

    Sin and sickness, things bygone,

For the Lord who comes for me,

Gives me life and sets me free.

When the page of life I turn,

    Toil and strife unfold before,

    Sorrow, death and danger threat,

    Yet I boldly labour on.

For the Master’s call I hear,

    Ever nearer, nearer draws,

Soon He’ll come with trumpet blast,

O that golden day doth dawn.

Saviour, oh I wait and pray

    To behold Thy loving Face,

    Mercifully grant to me,

    Live with Thee eternally.

YOU ARE THE SUNSHINE IN MY LIFE.

You are the sunshine in my life,

The ray of hope that brightens my night,

You are My Guide, My Life, My All,

That’s what you are, dear Lord, to me.

You gave me life when I was dead,

    Groping in darkness, supportless stayed,

You came and, oh, what peace, what joy,

Slowly engulfs my heart and mind.

But for a space of time was lost,

Quiet peace, sweet joy, which my soul did enjoy,

That nearness closer to the Heavens,

O give me, Lord, I pray once more.

Seek me, O Lord, I plead again,

Knock at the door of my heart I pray,

    Here I wait penitently,

Waiting for Thee to enter in.

MAKE THE WAY CLEAR FOR THE LORD.

Make the way clear for the Lord,

    Bring yourself nearer the Lord,

Prepare your heart; prepare your mind and your soul,

For I know that He will come,

Come for us from high above.

Clean the temple of your heart

    And your fiery tongue subdue,

Prepare your heart; prepare your mind and your soul,

For the Lord is coming soon,

O the Judge is coming soon.

    So prepare, prepare I pray,

Soon the trumpet sound you’ll hear,

Prepare your heart; prepare your mind and your soul,

For the day is dawning soon,

    Jesus Christ is coming soon.

    YEARS HAVE I SPENT ALONE.

    Years have I spent alone,

    Years spent for me alone,

Not a single day had I

    Given to the Lord.

Years have I spent in pain,

    Not knowing where to turn,

    Not caring ev’n to forgive

    The wrongs done to me.

But now I know a truth,

I like to share with you,

Spend one day with the Lord Jesus,

    Oh what joy is yours.

    Wander away did I,

    Tempted by life’s sweet ways,

Pain and doubt did me enslave,

    Sorrow came my way.

Then I did find the way,

That’s what doth make me say,

Spent one day with the Lord Jesus,

    You can never go wrong.

YEARS THOU SPENT ON EARTH, LORD.

Years Thou spent on earth, Lord,

    Were spent for me alone,

That I may have a foretaste,

    Of that eternal home;

    Thou didst bear upon Thyself,

    The burden of my sins,

That I may walk so freely

    With not a care within.

And for this I thank Thee, Lord,

    Grateful hands I raise

    Song of praise I sing,

Join the throng all around this whole, wide world,

    Singing ‘Alleluiah, Alleluiah,’

A song of love I sing,

To Thee, My Lord and King.

    Thou didst bear on Thyself,

    The Cross of Calvary,

    Head adorned with thorny crown,

    Thou a heavenly King,

Sweat broke out in drops of blood,

    Each drop did blot a sin;

Sure, Thou didst love me dearly,

    To suffer, Lord, like this.

And for this I thank Thee, Lord,

    Grateful hands I raise,

    Song of praise I sing,

Join the throng, all round this whole, wide world,

    Singing ‘Alleluiah, Alleluiah,’

A song of love I sing

To Thee, My Lord and King.

MY SAVIOUR IS THE LIVING CHRIST.

Saviour, You are alive to me

Although none of us can see,

Still You love and speak to me:

‘Jesus loves you, come My Way.’

My Saviour is the Living Christ,

    Same as yesteryears is He,

Time has not erased the love,

    I obtained at Calvary.

My Jesus is the living Christ,

Speaking to the hearts of men,

Some have heard His tender Voice,

    ‘Come drink of Me freely’.

So I listen in dark, cold nights,

    Listen for His tender call;

‘Come and make yourself at home

    In mansion prepared above.’

SOMETHING I HAVE TO DO FOR JESUS.

Something I have to do for Jesus,

Something I have to say about Jesus,

He’s the One who did blot out my sins,

Who gave new life and set me free,

Something I have to do for Jesus,

Something I have to say today to you.

    Somebody told me about Jesus,

Somebody sang a song about Jesus,

Now I know He’s my all in all

    And shall be so forevermore,

Somebody told me He is a King

Who shall come soon to claim His Bride.

Somebody gave the hope to meet Him,

I know Jesus is alive in Heaven,

Seated in glory at God’s Right Hand.

He speaks to all the newly born,

Tells of His love and undying care,

Instilling hope through the Holy Spirit.

Something I have to do for Jesus,

Indeed tell the world He’s alive today,

Speak of Salvation offered to all

And a crown of eternal life,

Speak of His coming to judge someday,

Awaken each soul to prepare each day.

    SOMEDAY I SHALL MEET JESUS.

    Someday I shall meet Jesus,

When that day will be, I do not know,

Someday I shall see His Face,

And say, ‘Lord, I adore Thee’,

Someday doors of Heaven shall open,

I shall behold the splendour of His Kingdom,

Someday, surely, someday, I shall see the Lord.

    Someday I shall meet Jesus,

Someday when this life is past and gone,

    Someday in the near future

I know He shall come for me

Till that day doth dawn, I’ll stay awake

Lest I shall be asleep when He comes for me,

Someday, surely someday, the Lord’ll come for me.

YEARS OF WAITING FOR THE LORD.

Years of waiting for the Lord,

    Years of patient vigilant wait,

Millions have passed away from this world,

Hoping and praying for the coming of the Lord.

And I know He’s coming very soon,

Signs are all around the world,

Heralding the coming of the Lord,

He is God and King of our everlasting life.

Everyday you and I wait for Him,

We wait in hope and prayer and praise,

    Children of God waiting patiently,

Ceaselessly hoping for the coming of the Lord.

When that day doth dawn, what joy, what glee,

My soul shall join in choral song

Like the wise virgins my lamp shall burn,

Rapturously follow My King to my real home.

    YOU ARE MY GOD.

When You are near me, O Lord,

Sorrows do not affect me, Lord,

    Yearning to be near Thee,

I pray it may be so,

For, Lord, You are My God,

You are my all in all

And when My God is on my side,

I fear nothing, I crave nothing else,

But the Presence of My God in my heart and soul

For, Lord, You are My God.

When I pray to Thee, My God,

    Happiness engulfs my heart

    And the feelings that flow

    Within, for Thee alone;

    Oh lofty thoughts sublime,

    Rise on wings of ecstasy,

Enraptured is my heart and soul,

When with Thy Presence brimmed I stand,

Silently I bow in prayer to Thee, My Lord,

For You are My God, My Lord,

And You are my all in all,

    Oh Jesus Christ, My God.

SOME DAY I SHALL BE FREE

Someday I shall be free from the burden of sin,

Someday I shall be relieved of tiresome strains,

    And when that day dawns,

What heavenly joy shall fill my heart,

For that day Christ will come to me.

Someday birds will be singing all along the way,

When I walk, oh gloriously, down life’s rugged road,

    That day would have dawned

In sweet communion with the Lord,

For I have Jesus in my heart.

    SAVIOUR, LEAD ME

Saviour, lead me along life’s rugged road,

You are the Shepherd of my soul,

Hear the bleating of this lost sheep,

Waiting to hear Your answering Call.

Darkness fills the night and cold is the hour,

Fear engulfs my mind and my heart,

For the Evil One lurks without,

    Attempting to mislead my soul.

I have no cause to fear or to worry,

Jesus the Shepherd of my soul,

Waits in vigil through the night,

Waits to lead me on my journey home.

Jesus the living Saviour of my soul,

Hear me, Lord, when I call to Thee,

Be Thou near me, Jesus, come,

For, Lord, I need Thee most of all.

MAKE MY SINS DEPART FROM ME

Make my sins depart from me,

Cleanse me, Lord, and make me free

Of the burden that I bear

Untie, Lord, and set me free.

Many cares and sins I bear

Through my hourly strife with life,

    Penitently, I struggle on.

Set me free, Lord, set me free,

Free from the bonds of sin I’ll be,

If Thou, Lord, will say the Word.

Free me, Lord, but let me be,

Prisoner, Lord, of Thy deep love,

    Gladly, Lord, I’ll always be,

Prisoner, Lord, of Thy deep love.

    SONG OF MY REDEEMER’S LOVE.

    Song of My Redeemer’s love,

    I shall sing to you,

Sing the song along with me,

Let it rise and fill the air,

Let the world remember once again

    Of that Saviour’s birth;

    He came down to earth

    To bring eternal life

And set me free from sin.

Jesus loves me, Jesus loves you,

Black or blonde, brown or white,

    Alleluia, sing out in gladness

Jesus loves us most of all.

    Song of my Redeemer’s love,

    Shown at Calvary,

Raise your voice in chorus raise,

Song that tells of love divine,

    A Saviour sacrificed for me,

    Freed from sin and grave,

    A new life I gain

And I shall live with Christ

    In that eternal land.

Jesus loves me, Jesus loves you,

Black or blonde, brown or white,

    Alleluia, sing out in gladness,

Jesus loves us most of all.

MY SAVIOUR WILL BE COMING SOON

Someday the heavens shall open up

And the trumpet sound will be heard,

A clarion call to folks on earth,

    Who are waiting patiently

For the final call from Jesus,

    To our eternal home

Where the King of Kings and the Judge of Heav’n

Shall judge and reward us all there.

Oh My Saviour will be coming soon,

To take us home, to our heavenly home,

What a shout of joy shall be heard up there,

When we come face to face with the Lord our God.

I believe it shall not be too long

For the trumpet to be sounded

Angels shall come to gather us all,

    Christ’s faithful, loyal soldiers,

From the East and West, from the North and the South

    To meet the Lord above,

He shall take us home, O so far away,

To a land where we no more shall part.

Oh My Saviour will be coming soon,

To take us home to our heavenly home,

What a shout of joy shall be heard up there,

When we come face to face with the Lord our God.

COME TO CHRIST YOUR GOD AND KING.

    Ye weak and heavy-ladened,

    Ye burdened with your cares,

    Ye Christian men and women,

Come to Christ your God and King,

For Christ is our own Father,

He bears your load all day,

If only you would ask Him

    You’ll hear His Voice today.

Come to Christ, come to God,

Come to Jesus, Lord of All,

    Come today, kneel and pray,

See Him answering your prayer each day.

Come one and all to Jesus,

Fall down and kneel and pray,

    Jesus Your God and Saviour,

    Is waiting oh so patiently,

Do not turn away from Him,

He waits to hear your call,

    He is your burden-bearer,

    Your Saviour, Lord and God.

Come to Christ, Come to God,

Come to Jesus, Lord of All,

    Come today, kneel and pray,

See Him answering your prayer each day.

    JESUS, COME IN.

There is a niche within my heart,

I kept it for Thee alone,

Come and reign within my heart,

    Come, Jesus, come in!

Oh for so long I kept it free,

Free for Thee to enter in,

    Hoping You’d reside therein,

    Come, Jesus, come in!

    Long have I waited patiently,

    Answer, Lord, this my prayer,

Come to Thy Throne within my heart,

    Come, Jesus, come in!

Oh that very short spell of time,

I felt Your Spirit move in,

Then alas! I lost it thus,

    Come, Jesus, come in!

Quench, Lord, this thirsty heart of mine,

    Fill with Thy Spirit divine,

    Stay in me forever, Lord,

    Come, Jesus, come in!

    ASK, SEEK, KNOCK.

Meek and lowly, faint and weary,

Lord, I trudge my way to Thee,

Thee alone I seek, Oh Lord,

In Thee alone I find solace.

Ask, Thou say it will be given,

O I ask to keep me near,

Ever close by Thy side, Lord,

For I crave for none, Lord, but Thee.

Seek, Thou say, and it will be found,

So I seek Thee day and night,

Quench this thirsty heart of mine,

Fill it, Lord, with Thy love divine.

Knock, Thou say, it shall be opened,

I knock at this door between,

    Opened forev’r by Thy Blood

Let me enter and live with Thee

    NEARER THE CROSS I CLING.

    Nearer the Cross I cling,

For none else I crave within,

He is my all in all,

    What need I further more,

For He is my Friend, my Guide, my Father, my Lord,

    He is Jesus Christ.

    What good the Cross portends,

For in it I find the way,

To meet the One I love.

So I cling to the Cross

For it is the beacon light, in a darkened world,

    That leads to Jesus.

    Nearer oh near I go,

    Brighter and clearer I see,

    The world beyond the Cross,

    Beckons invitingly,

My mansion beyond the skies prepared by Him

    My Lord Jesus Christ.

OH, NEAR THE CROSS OF CALVARY.

Oh near the Cross of Calvary,

I will always take my stand,

Beyond the Cross I find true Life,

    Not brief, but forever more,

For dear the price paid by the Lord,

To bring life anew to me,

He gave His life at Calvary,

    To make me live again.

    Beneath the Cross of Calvary,

I shall soon find the sweet repose,

True peace and love and joy are there,

    Him everyone who seeks,

    Unknown, unseen by many folks,

    He stands oh so patiently,

To lead by hand beyond this world

    To His eternal land.

The Cross holds oh so much meaning,

To those who have found the Lord,

For they do know He is the Way,

To Him who rules over all,

And so they stand beside the Cross,

    Pointing to the heavens

Thy Kingdom come Oh Lord Our God,

    In unison, thus, we pray..

I WANT MY JESUS TO KNOW.

I want My Jesus to know,

I want to sing to Him,

A song for Him, a song for Him,

    A theme that’s sung eternally,

Through ages past and still is heard,

    ‘Jesus is mine alone’,

So says everyone who knows Him:

And I want my Jesus know,

That I love Him so, love Him so.

I have not seen Thee, my Lord,

I’ve heard Thee speak to me,

He sings to me, He sings to me,

    A theme that’s sung eternally,

Through ages past and still is heard,

    ‘You are my very own’

So says He to all who seek Him:

He wants me to really know

That He loves me so - loves me so.

    FAITH, HOPE, LOVE.

A song, a song, give me a song O Lord,

A song of praise I will sing all day,

    Praising My God above.

A faith, a faith, give me a faith, O Lord,

A faith that moves a huge mountain,

A faith that’s rests on God.

    A love, a love, give a love, O Lord,

A love of man, Thy Creation,

    Loving my fellow beings.

A hope, a hope give me a hope, O Lord,

A hope of life in Thy Kingdom, Lord,

    Hoping of life with God.

A faith so deep, a love so pure,

A shining hope of life up yonder,

Sung in a song of glory.

MY HOPE IS FOUND IN JESUS.

My hope is found in Jesus,

And on Jesus alone I depend,

For who on earth can give me all,

    I crave so much everyday,

He will not forsake me ever,

    Sinful though be my ways,

Repentant came I to the Lord,

He took me in His Arms.

    My life depends on Jesus,

Misleading are the ways of the world,

Leading to the destruction of man.

    I’d rather turn to Jesus,

On Him solely I can depend,

Though storms may roar and rage

    And numerous dangers threaten,

    He’ll stand beside me through.

As I journey on life’s road,

Cares and worries my companions are,

Yet through this dark, tiresome trip,

    My Saviour journeys with me.

Taking my hand He leads me on

    Through thorny and stony paths,

Shall I fear with my Saviour near?

    I cling closer to Him!

    MY SAVIOUR LIVES TODAY.

    My Saviour lives today,

And He speaks to many around this world,

Who stop to pray and listen,

To the still, small Voice of God on high,

    Answering their prayers.

    My Saviour walks today,

Closely by the side of those who seek Him,

    Those in repentance appeal:

‘Lord, Thou My Strength and Defender be,

    Never ever leave me.’

    My Saviour calls today,

All those ready to listen to His Voice,

    Obey meekly His Commands,

To follow in the foot-steps of the Lord,

To where He leads us on!

    JESUS, GOD ON HIGH.

    Jesus, God on high,

You are the Light of my life,

When You speak to me, my Lord,

    Inexplicable joy fills my heart.

I do not know why this is so

Or why You care to visit me,

This little mortal here on earth,

    Or die on the Cross for me;

But this much I know, My Lord, My God,

I worship and adore You, Lord.

    Let me sing aloud

In a voice loud and clear:

‘Jesus, My Lord and My King.

For Thee I’ll live, to Thee I do bring,

    This lowly life of mine,

To use according to Thy Will,.

I wait, Lord, I wait for further summons,

Because You called me, My Lord,

To do Thy Will I tarry, My Lord,

Do as Thou wilt, this life is yours,

Shape it, Lord, mold it, Lord,

    This earthen vessel is Thine,

Do as Thou wilt, O Lord,

    Jesus, God on high.

    NEARER, MY GOD, I COME.

    Nearer, My God, I come,

    Closer to Thee I cling,

    Saviour, My God,

As life’s rugged road I take,

    Thy Cross my comfort be,

For I know there is my Lord

    Waiting for me.

So nearer, My Lord, I come,

    Closer to Thee I cling,

For naught else I crave on earth,

    But Thee, My Lord.

    Nearer, O God, do come,

    Closer to me O stay,

    Saviour, My God,

Dark and thorny is the way,

    Walk Thou before me, Lord,

Strong and fearless shall I be,

    Walking with Thee.

So nearer, My Lord, I come,

    Closer to Thee I cling,

For naught else I crave on earth,

    But Thee, My Lord.

TEACH ME HOW TO DO THY WILL, O LORD.

Teach me how to do Thy Will, O Lord,

Make me watch and wait patiently,

Watch and wait to hear Thy loving call,

Call to come and serve Thee, My Lord.

Thy Will, Lord, let it be done,

    Thy laws, Lord, be obeyed,

I bow in prayer and wait here, Lord,

Wait here, Lord, for Thy loving call.

Casting all my cares upon Thee, Lord,

I no more fear what may befall,

If Thou shalt only be by my side,

There’s nothing I shall fear at all.

Thy Will, Lord, let it be done,

    Thy laws, Lord, be obeyed,

I bow in prayer and wait here, Lord,

Wait here, Lord, for Thy loving call.

I know not what Thy Will be for me

But this I know Thou art tarrying,

Tarrying for me to respond to Your Call,

    Grant, Lord, a comprehending heart.

Thy Will, Lord, let it be done,

    Thy laws, Lord, be obeyed,

I bow in prayer and wait here, Lord,

Wait here, Lord, for Thy loving call.

    SOFTLY FLOWS THE MELODY.

    Softly flows the melody,

    Wafted by the silent breeze,

It’s a song that flows from me,

Reaching Thee, My God on high,

    It’s a song I like to sing,

Sing to Thee and Thee alone,

For it speaks of my deep love,

For the One who died for me.

Oh the love that I received,

    At the Cross on Calvary,

This is but a mite beside,

It’s my all, I offer Thee,

    For this song embraces all,

    Deepest feelings, Lord divine,

Let me sing my love to Thee,

Lord of All, My God and King.

Let me linger by Thy side,

Sinful, though I be, My God,

Who have I apart from Thee?

What I have, I give to Thee.

Come, dear Lord, do come to me,

Fill this empty heart of mine,

Make this niche Thy own abode,

Fill my heart with heavenly love.

Bless this house, O Lord, I pray,

Bless these little ones of mine,

Bless my dear ones far away,

    Bless my kith and kin each day;

Fill this house with Thy Presence,

Fill us all with Thy great Love,

    Surely then we’ll never fall,

    Love and serve Thee evermore.

MORE OF MY DAYS MAY THEY BE SPEND FOR THEE

More of my days may they be spend for Thee,

For Thou, Lord, art my life and my all,

To Thee do I bring, to Thee I present,

This lowly life of mine, to do as Thou wilt, O Lord.

Thou hast called, so I wait patiently,

Give me the command to do Thy will,

For naught can be done without Thee, My Lord,

So I wait and watch and pray,

And stay for Thy call, O Lord.

How oft hast Thou whispered ‘I love thee, child’,

Thy Voice so sweet I cannot reject,

Thou knowest, Lord, my responding heart,

Only empower me, Lord, gird me with strength each day.

Gird me day after day and I shall rise,

Above the toils and strifes of this life,

I shall lift my head and boldly proclaim:

‘To do Thy Will, here am I,

Send me where Thou wilt, O Lord.’

GOOD GOD, O GIVE YOUR LOVE TO ME

Good God, O give Your love to me

    Because I need Your love,

More and more of Your love I need,

Yes, Lord, I need Your love.

‘Tis Jesus I need every hour of the day,

‘Tis Jesus I need when cares come my way,

‘Tis Jesus I need, ‘tis Jesus I need,

Every hour, every minute, every second of the day.

Holy Spirit, teach more of Him,

Of the One who died for me,

He gave His life at Calvary,

I need more of His love.

‘Tis Jesus I need every hour of the day,

‘Tis Jesus I need when cares come my way,

‘Tis Jesus I need, ‘tis Jesus I need,

Every hour, every minute, every second of the day.

What can I give, My Lord, to Thee,

    Empty I come to Thee,

But for one little humble gift,

A love filled heart I give.

‘Tis Jesus I need every hour of the day,

‘Tis Jesus I need when cares come my way,

‘Tis Jesus I need, ’tis Jesus I need,

Every hour, every minute, every second of the day.

    THE NIGHT AT GETHSEMANE.

Late this night Thou didst kneel

    In the Garden of Gethsemane,

Watched and prayed and sweated in pain:

‘Father, if it be possible, remove this cup from me.’

Nay, but Thou didst not falter as we mortals do,

From a Master Plan so huge that no man could fulfil

A Master plan so thought out that could save mankind from utter destruction.

Because Thou didst submit to the will of God the Father on High.

In Gethsemane, You prayed in agony and sweated blood,

All for the sake of a sinner like me.

‘Lord, why did You do so, why?’Because You love me so

That I might live a life in bliss

Free from the bondage of sin and sickness,

    Live eternally with Thee.

    From the Garden of Gethsemane

They took Thee like a common criminal,

Thou didst not deserve to be scourged and spitted upon,

    O Thou King of Kings.

But that seemed to be the only way,

The way chosen to set me free

Thou madest it possible for mankind,

To hopefully look forward to a life beyond life,

Where all joy shall untainted be, all pleasures undefiled.

The Cross Thou bore to Calvary

Is the path I’m trodding now,

As it is the only one that leads me to Thee,

And yet, Lord, I cannot but pause to ask in amazement,

What is it, Lord, that Thou found in me

To love me so and to die for me?

It is Thy own bountiful, all embracing love

That led Thee to carry that Cross to Calvary,

And which today is leading me to cast care aside

And come to Thee, happily, when my

    summons come!

    IT’S BECAUSE OF EASTER DAY.

Some day I shall see Jesus

And speak to Him face to face,

Someday I shall stand and gaze

    Upon that wonderful Face,

    Someday ‘twill be possible.

To offer Him all I own,

Someday I shall be near Him

And stay on right there I will,

And it’s all because of Easter Day.

    My Saviour He rose again,

    On that Redemption day,

He rose from the gloomy grave

And gave new life to me,

Now as this Life’s curtain moves

And falls on this mortal life,

I have no qualms within me,

For new life waits me up there

And it’s all because of Easter Day.

Sin sunk the world in death’s grip,

    But Jesus conquered dark Death,

My worthless self, cleansed of sin.

When He rose again that day,

    Bright, happy and joyous day,

Easter bells chimed a new note,

    Bringing in eternal life;

    Believers rejoice with me

Because we’re blessed with an Easter Day.

YOU ARE THE KING OF GLORY

You are the King of Glory

    O Jesus, My Saviour,

You are the shining light of salvation

    For all mankind.

You are the only Guide for all

    Who hunger after truth

You are the King of glory and power,

    Jesus, My God.

You are the beacon of light

    For those in the darkness,

You love me dearly, dearly you bought me,

    O this I know.

You are the way to ‘ternal life

    Therefore I seek Thy way,

Lead me through the way of righteous living,

    O Jesus, Lord.

    GOD’S PROMISE OF ETERNAL LIFE

God promised a gift, golden crown of life,

A covenant made to you and to me,

Believe in Jesus, His Beloved Son,

Receive the promise of eternal life.

In that fair land where we shall live always

Jesus Christ will rule as King of Kings

And near the Lord of Lords, I want to be,

At the Feet of Lamb of God.

I pray for that day to dawn very soon,

When I shall meet my God face to face,

And there present an account of my work,

Thus receive the crown of eternal life.

Along with that Crown, I crave but a wish,

My God, I beseech Thee to fulfill,

A place at the Feet of Thy Son, My King,

To behold His loving Face forever more.

    YOU ARE MY ONLY DELIGHT.

You are my only delight, O Lord My Saviour,

You walk daily by my side, wherever I go,

You calm me, O Jesus, when I’m plunged in despair,

You bought me, O Lamb of God, by shedding of Your Blood.

    Saviour, oh, Saviour mine,

    You are My Father Divine,

You gave Your Love so freely to me

    And I give myself,

    My Lord, to Thee.

You are my sunny Cove when storms assail me, Lord,

You share my burdens when a-weary I do roam,

You whisper words of love, soothing balm to my soul,

You are my only delight, O Lord, My Saviour.

    Saviour, oh Saviour mine,

    You are My Father Divine,

You gave Your Love so freely to me,

And I give myself, My Lord, to Thee.

    I WILL TRUST IN JESUS

    I will trust in Jesus,

    He will see me through,

    All trials and tribulations

That face me in this life.

Yes, Jesus will see me through,

    Jesus will see me through,

Though the path be thorny and narrow,

    I’ll reach the Promised Land.

    Fears are born, doubts assail,

    But I’ll never fall,

For I know Jesus My Saviour,

    He will guide me along.

Yes, Jesus will see me through,

    Jesus will see me through,

Though the path be thorny and narrow,

    I’ll reach the Promised Land.

Life on earth will pass away,

    Home beyond I have,

No fear in me, my home I’ll see,

    Jesus will take me there.

Yes, Jesus will see me through,

    Jesus will see me through,

Though the path be thorny and narrow,

    I’ll reach the Promised Land.

    Trusting in My Jesus,

    Gladly I will walk

    Every step before is closer

    To everlasting life.

Yes, Jesus will see me through

    Jesus will see me through,

Though the path be thorny and narrow,

    I’ll reach the Promised Land.

GOD HAS GIVEN HIS LOVE TO ME.

God has given His love to me

Through the Son who came to this world,

    He was crucified at Calvary,

At Calvary He saved my soul.

Jesus, My Saviour, He loves me,

Jesus, My Saviour, He cares for me,

Jesus, My Saviour, He’s coming for me,

    Alleluia! Praise His Name!

I have a place in Heaven I know,

He has promised to take me there

To a home on that beautiful shore,

Where God with Son reigns glorious.

Jesus, My Saviour, He loves me,

Jesus, My Saviour, He cares for me,

Jesus, My Saviour, He’s coming for me,

    Alleluia! Praise His Name!

Jesus, My Saviour shines for me,

He is the guiding Light for me,

I fear no evil, temptations flee

When He is walking next to me.

Jesus, My Saviour, He loves me,

Jesus, My Saviour, He cares for me,

Jesus, My Saviour, He’s coming for me,

    Alleluia! Praise His Name!

Blessed the Lamb whose Blood was shed,

    Blessed Redeemer, Christ My King,

Praise Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

Rejoice, my soul, O sing aloud.

Jesus, My Saviour, He loves me,

Jesus, My Saviour, He cares for me,

Jesus, My Saviour, He’s coming for me,

    Alleluia! Praise His Name.

GOD HAS SPOKEN TO HIS PEOPLE

God has spoken to His People

And His message has come to us

Through the Son who came to earth

    Born as Man in Bethlehem.

Jesus is the Name of the Son

    Jesus is Our Saviour now,

Jesus is the One who bought me

    Shedding His most precious Blood

    On the Cross at Calvary.

Christ has come; He’s the Son of God

He’s the Saving Grace of the world,

    Listen, fellowmen, around,

    Hear His loving message now.

Jesus is the Name of the Son

    Jesus is Our Saviour now

Jesus is the One who bought me

    Shedding His most precious Blood

    On the Cross at Calvary.

No other way to reach Our God

But by Him who was sent by Him,

    Believe ye children of God,

Christ the key to lasting life.

Jesus is the Name of the Son

    Jesus is Our Saviour now,

Jesus is the One who bought me

    Shedding His most precious Blood

    On the Cross at Calvary.

    GOD’S WORD.

I have read, oh, so many,

    Books written in human’s life,

In years gone by, some forgotten

    Unknown to many a man

But oh so precious is the Book,

    Enlightened hearts begotten,

    It is a Book inspired,

    By God’s Own Holy Spirit.

‘Tis a Book for ages read,

    Kindling joy in saddened hearts,

    Brings hope and consolation too,

    And messages of God’s love,

    It’s God’s own recorded work,

Favoured men of old, they wrote,

    The greatest treasure to all

Those who have known its worth.

Yes, the Bible is God’s Word,

The Word was for us made flesh,

In the Son who came down to save,

This world from sin and sorrow,

Who gave His own life on the Cross,

    Proved undying love for all

    And He was resurrected,

    The Holy Bible tells us.

    The Holy Bible tells me,

    Jesus Christ lives in Heaven,

And I do believe it today,

He speaks of His love daily,

He tells to get prepared for Him,

    His second coming to earth,

As King of Kings, Lord of Lords

He is coming soon for His Church.

    YOU ARE MY LITTLE CHILD.

My weary head I laid upon,

The breast of My Heavenly Father,

He held me close and whispered softly:

You are my child, dear girl.

Come lay upon Me all your woes,

For I am here to share your burdens,

All your pain, your cares, your fears galore,

    You are My little child’.

I opened out my heart and wept,

To hear such honey-sweet words of love,

Fall from My Heavenly Father’s lips,

    Words softly, sweetly said.

All fears and pain, they fled away,

They all are now non-existent things,

My burdened heart, how light it’s become!

For I’m a Child of God.

    IF…

If Christ the Lord were to come suddenly

    To this world once again,

Would you accept Him as the Son of God

Or crucify Him all over again?

If God the Father were to send His Son

Our way to Him to show,

Would you stand to defend His Cause

Or a Judas – kiss on Him bestow?

Not as Saviour or sacrificial Lamb

But as a King and Judge!

He will come again in all His glory,

To take with Him the fruits of His labour!

    A SOLDIER OF A KING

    I am a soldier of a King

Whose Kingdom is not of this world,

But He came here to recruit,

Mortal man for an eternal land.

He came not as a Mighty King

Nor as a Commander of a fleet,

Yet He with the words He spake

Conquered many souls for His Kingdom.

This Conqueror, He had no sword

    That human beings often wield,

He carried but a shepherd’s staff

And spoke most wondrous words of love.

    There ne’er was yet another

Who spake with such love-filled voice,

There ne’er was and ne’er will be,

Born on earth, such a heavenly King.

And I a soldier did become

    Of that wonderful Fatherly King,

When He did knock at my heart’s door

And whispered softly You are my child.

My heart suffused, brimmed over with joy,

To hear such a heavenly Voice,

‘Twas only ‘cause I opened my heart,

And let that wonderful Father in.

Now He says ‘I shall always be

A soldier of His Heavenly realm,

I’ll march on the streets of that fair land

And sing, sweet songs of triumph and joy.

    LOVE POURED FROM ABOVE

    Love poured from above

    In my heart was born,

    On that fair Day,

    When I heard Him call,

    In that call divine

    That came from above,

    I heard that My Saviour

    Was coming at last.

‘I come, I come’, I heard Jesus say,

‘Go tell My People, I come any day,

I come as I promised to you of yore,

Be prepared My people, I come, I come.’

    His great wondrous love

    That’s given to me,

    He tells me now

    To share it with thee,

    With all who believe,

    Who hope, wait and watch,

    The Coming of Jesus

    To earthward at last.

‘I come, I come,’ I heard Jesus say,

‘Go tell My People, I come any day,

I come as I promised to you of yore,

Be prepared, My people, I come, I come.’

    I wait, My Father,

    I have heard Thy Call,

    I stand prepared

    To meet My Saviour,

    With prayers and praises

    And hymns sung aloud,

    I proclaim Thy Coming,

    To reign here at last.

‘I come, I come,’ I heard Jesus say,

‘Go tell My People, I come any day

I come as I promised to you of yore,

Be prepared, My People, I come, I come.’

HOW GREAT IS THY LOVE DIVINE.

    The Creator of this earth,

    Upon His creatures below,

    Has showered abundant blessings,

    Through ages, past and now.

    God, My God,

How great is Thy Love divine,

    My lips shall sing forth,

    Thy praise evermore,

    For Thou didst bestow

    On Thy creatures below,

    Thy Only Son, Jesus Christ.

This a maiden of My God,

    On whom He richly bestows,

His great love so deep and warm,

    Around me doth enfold.

    God My God,

How great is Thy Love divine,

    My lips shall sing forth,

    Thy praise evermore,

    For Thou didst bestow

    On Thy creatures below

    Thy only Son Jesus Christ.

    Oh amazing love so pure,

    His merciful heart supplies

To the one who worships Him

    And on His Word relies.

    God, My God,

How great is Thy love divine,

    My lips shall sing forth,

    Thy praise evermore,

    For Thou didst bestow,

    On Thy creatures below,

    Thy only Son, Jesus Christ.

    My heart cannot but rejoice,

    His all-powerful Eye hath fixed,

    On This His humble Creature,

Who turns her eyes on Him.

    God, My God,

How great is Thy Love divine,

    My lips shall sing forth,

    Thy praise evermore,

    For Thou didst bestow,

    On Thy creatures below,

    Thy Only Son, Jesus Christ.

My God let me share that love

That Thou to me hath given,

With all who thirst, search for Thee

Shall find their rest in Thee.

    God, My God,

How great is Thy Love divine,

    My lips shall sing forth,

    Thy praise evermore,

    For Thou didst bestow,

    On Thy creatures below,

    Thy Only Son, Jesus Christ.

    GOD’S GIFT TO THE WORLD.

    God’s gift to the world

    Was given long ago,

When a Babe in the manger

    Was born on that day,

    Angels sang the news,

    The birth of Saviour,

On that first, fair Christmas Day

    When the Babe was born.

    Christ My King was born

To save this world from sin,

    What a wonderful Saviour

    He’s my all in all,

    God’s great love to me

    Through the Babe was showered,

For Jesus He died for me,

    At Golgotha place.

    The dawn of Christmas

    Makes me ponder anew,

Not the birth of a Saviour

    But the Judge to come,

    I know the Saviour

Who was born on that morn,

Is coming back to earth soon

    To be with us all.

    I wait for that day

    When the trumpet shall sound,

And the Lord shall come to earth

    His chosen to take,

    He’ll take me above,

    To the mansions on high,

    Where eternally I’ll serve,

    Jesus Christ My God.

GOD LOVED THE WORLD SO DEARLY.

God loved the world so dearly

That no price was too great for Him,

So He sent His Son to save the world

That we all might redeemed be.

Yes, God so loved the world

That He gave His only Begotten Son,

    Whosoever does believe in Him,

Shall not perish, shall not perish,

    But have eternal life.

Jesus Christ, He died for me

And gave His Life at Calvary

He loved the world, His Father made,

He gave His life at Calvary.

Yes, God so loved the world

That He gave His only Begotten Son,

    Whosoever does believe in Him,

Shall not perish, shall not perish,

    But have eternal life.

The Holy Spirit’s power I feel,

He tells me of the Crown I’ll wear,

When Jesus comes in clouds for me

And takes me Home where God I’ll see.

Yes, God so loved the world

That He gave His only Begotten Son,

    Whosoever does believe in Him

Shall not perish, shall not perish,

    But have eternal life.

    THE CORN IS RIPE.

The corn is ripe and the stalks are heavy,

With grains of faith accumulated with time,

The harvester approaches to harvest the crops,

The time draweth nigh, draweth nigh, draweth nigh.

The harvest time is drawing near,

The time draweth nigh, draweth nigh,

For Christ is coming to the world,

To harvest the True and the Faithful ones

And separate them from the tares forevermore.

When the King shall come, He then shall behold,

The stalks all swollen, like glowing Christian Faith,

We shall rejoice when we see His dear divine Face,

Suffused with joy at meeting with His Own.

The harvest time is drawing near,

The time draweth nigh, draweth nigh,

For Christ is coming to the world

To harvest the True and the Faithful ones

And separate them from the tares forevermore.

GOD HAS GIVEN HIS LOVE TO ALL MANKIND.

God has given His love to all Mankind,

    So the Bible tells me,

God has shown His love to me

    Through the Holy Spirit

    Father, Son and Holy Spirit

Three in One the Godhead see,

    Come and worship, ye fellowmen,

God the Father, God the Son

God The Holy Spirit, Three in One

With His love you He’ll enfold.

Jesus has given His love to the entire world

    So the Bible tells me,

Jesus shows His love to me

    Through the Holy Spirit.

    Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

Three in One, the Godhead see,

    Come and worship, ye fellowmen,

God the Father, God the Son,

God the Holy Spirit, Three in One,

With His love you He’ll enfold.

Christian folks, hear His loving Call divine

    Read the Bible daily,

    See therein His gift sublime

God’s love to you and me.

    Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

Three in One, the Godhead see,

    Come and worship, ye fellowmen,

God the Father, God the Son,

God the Holy Spirit, Three in One

With His love you He’ll enfold.

    THE MILLENNIAL REIGN.

That fair part of earth to be cleansed anew

By the love of Our Saviour Lord,

Christ will reign with His own chosen children,

Reign for one thousand years, the Bible says.

Oh I long to be one of the chosen,

His Face forever more, then I’ll see

Sing Him songs of praise and adoration

At the feet of the Lamb, My adored King.

Thy handmaiden, My Jesus Christ, this is,

Whom Thou hast chosen Thy very own,

I’ll sing and sing till the very air rings,

With songs of glory My Saviour adore.

Oh I wait for that day not too far now,

The day draws nigh, I’ll behold Him soon,

To take me home, to that beautiful Home,

To a mansion prepared in God’s own home.

When Christ descends with His Church back to earth,

    To commence the millennial reign,

Then My Lord again let me have a place,

At Thy Feet, O precious Saviour and King.

    JESUS, I LOVE THEE.

    How I love My Jesus,

    He has saved my soul,

I have found a place above

    Among His numbered saints.

Jesus, I love Thee, My Lord,

Let me sing aloud Thy praise,

    In that eternal land

Sing glory, glory to Thy Name.

    Jesus is My Saviour,

He is My Guide and Friend,

    I’ll never be lonely,

    With Jesus by my side.

Jesus, I love Thee, My Lord,

Let me sing aloud Thy praise,

    In that eternal land,

Sing glory, glory to Thy Name.

    Jesus never leave me

    I am Thy Own Child,

    Thou hast called, my answer

    My Saviour, I am Thine.

Jesus, I love Thee, My Lord,

Let me sing aloud Thy praise,

    In that eternal land,

Sing glory, glory to Thy Name.

    THE SECOND COMING.

    1

‘In My Father’s house are mansions numerous,

To prepare a place for ye I go,

But soon I shall return to receive ye to me

That ye may also be where I am!’

Beautiful promise of Our Lord Our God

Told to His people centuries back,

    A promise to be fulfilled,

For with the trump of God,

And with the voice of the Archangel,

    The Lord Himself shall descend,

From the Heavens with a shout,

The Dead in Christ shall rise first,

    The Living shall be next,

Together be caught up with them in the clouds,

To meet the Lord in the air,

    To be with Him forevermore.

    2

A sign you ask, a proof you want,

As oft as been asked in bygone days,

Many a sign are here, forecast of the dawn of the Day!

‘The beginning of sorrows shall be seen!"

So explained the Lord Our God,

When the earth He sojourned those days,

‘When ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars,

Earthquakes in divers places, famines and troubles too,

Nation rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom,

Know that the Hour is at hand!

But these are only the beginnings of sorrows

    The Gospel must first be published among all nations;

False prophets shall rise, so shall false Christs.

‘Believe ye not’, so says the Lord; for I have foretold you all things!’

    Watch, therefore, unguarded not stay,

For neither ye know the day nor the hour,

    When this shall come to pass;

The time of the Master’s arrival, none but the Father knows,

    Take heed, watch and pray,

Watch therefore, I say, for ye may be asleep

    When the Master cometh anytime of the day or night;

Stay not drunk with the cares and filth of life,

The day may come upon us unawares,

So this I plead, do watch and pray,

Pray without ceasing, for countless are the sorrows

    That accompany this portentous Day,

Watch! Lest you are left behind weeping, with all your loved ones gone.

    (3)

Children of Light, arise and shine,

Hide not the light given you by virtue of His Grace

But brighten the way for those in darkness and ignorance,

    Sleep not in drunken sleepiness,

Be sober, donning the breastplate of faith and love,

The hope of Salvation Your helmet,

Comfort one another, edify one another,

The Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.

Esteem the Lord’s servants highly for their work’s sake,

Warn the unruly, comfort the feeble,

Support the weak and to all patient be,

Render not evil for evil but follow all that is good,

    Pray without ceasing, giving thanks,

    Quench not the Holy Spirit,

In everything give thanks without ceasing,

Despise not prophesying, abstain from evil,

And again I say, ‘Watch and pray,

For the Day of the Lord draweth nigh’.

    (4)

No prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation,

Whatever prophecy was made in ages past came not by the will of man,

Moved by the Holy Ghost as they were, holy men of God did speak.

Our gain it is to have such sure word of prophecy,

So ’twill behove us well to heed such words that us do tell

What we have in store and what is expected of us,

‘Twill behove us well to follow the Light in this dark world of ours

And shine it forth for those less fortunate brothers and sisters.

So take heed, watch and pray,

For the signs are here, the day draws near,

The Coming of the Lord is nigh

As King of Kings to judge the earth.

    (5)

When the Day of the Lord shall dawn,

    About which the scoffers mock,

    The earth shall pass away

    With a great noise,

    The elements shall melt

    With tremendous, fervent heat,

The earth and the works therein

Shall as well be, burned away.

Therefore be holy, diligent, blameless and spotless,

Beware the error of the wicked,

Lest you be led to fall from your own steadfastness

But grow in full grace and the knowledge

Of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
