About this ebook

This is a collection of poems, prose, and other creative pieces. Roy has always loved words. He has always been fascinated with the English language and how each word can be utilized in various ways depending on its context. Being somewhat of a loner at times, he found solace in turning to the pen and putting his thoughts and feelings on paper. Here is a small slice of some of his collected slices of lifes excursions. His hope is that these slices will create conversations, thus leading to understanding and, thereby, an appreciation of the other persons point of view.

    IN MEMORY OF

Nathalyn Vershelle Cato Jarmon, my late wife, without whom I would have never realized what GOD meant in the scriptures when HE said that two shall become one as well as the phrase …’til Death we do part.. She was a compassionate Christian woman of True Faith in her GOD and projected HIS Loving Spirit every where she went and toward everyone she met. She was a Master Teacher. She could teach anyone - through encouragement and dedication – to do anything that she would ask. She was truly one of GOD’s angels. I shall always remember her musical talent whereby she could make that church’s organ talk to you like a natural person. And I will never forget that wonderful and heartfelt laugh of hers. Rest in Peace in God’s bosom Vershelle. Because of you, I now view people and the world in a different, more-Godly way.

HOW LONG (MAYBE NOT UNTIL I AM COMPLETE)

(Written to my late wife Nathalyn Vershelle Cato Sanders before we were married, in hope to win her heart and make her my wife. This is an extension to a previous poem.)

    The water roars thunderously

          As it splashes powerfully

          Upon huge boulders

          With gigantic strength.

The boulders will stand, unmovable –

          As if at attention –

          While the liquid burden

          Soaks his steady shoulders.

We all know that, for time unknown,

          The rock will stand

          With great resistance.

We also know that the stone

          will grow smaller and smaller

          As the water falls with

          Constant power until the

boulder melts to a pebble –

          and beyond.

She is the water and I

          Am the boulder.

    How long will I stand?

    How long will it be

          Before
