A Mother's Fight

About this ebook
My mother had the type of breast cancer that did not have a root to it, therefore allowing it to come back at any time and travelling to different areas of the body. During the years of 2007 through 2012 my mother had cancer in the breast, lung, and brain.
Living in a small town with not much of a health care system, we were brought out of our comfort zone. In order for my mother to be cured and get the health care she needed, we had to travel a great distance, my entire family had to help, and we had to depend on God and the people He brought into our lives.
My family and especially my mother went through a storm in dealing with the little c word called cancer, however it taught us to trust God, pray, lean and depend not in our understanding but in the understanding and wisdom of God.
The night before my mother had brain surgery, she heard the words to a song in her ear singing He wont fail thee. God did not fail my mother in her fight against cancer, and that lets me know He will never fail any of His children.
Minister Kathy Pierce Thompson
Minister Kathy Pierce Thompson is the daughter of the late Floyd and Rosella Pierce, the third child of five children. I am the wife of the late James D. Thompson, and the mother of three beautiful children, Precious, Dexter, and Samuel. I am a graduate of the 1989 class of Heidelberg High School, furthered my education at Southeastern Baptist College in Laurel, MS. I am an Associate Minister at the For The Love Of God Church in Heidelberg, MS where I attend faithfully. One of my hobbies is writing plays so that the children can perform them in programs at Church. Working with children at Church and in the community is one of my greatest joys. Being a dedicated mother to my three children is a job I cherish. Like so many other mothers, my children mean the world to me, and it is my goal to make sure they are raised and taken care of in the best possible way. That is why they were introduced to God at an early age, because He would be the best at supplying their every need and their greatest mentor. My greatest and most personal accomplishment and achievement was accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior on August 2, 1998. I accepted my call into the Ministry and preached my first sermon June 18, 2006. Since accepting Jesus into my life, my life has changed for the greater good and now purpose is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ so that others may accept Him into their lives.

A MOTHER’S LIFE
It is funny how life can be going so great and all of a sudden one incident can change everything. My mother was living a great life. She was married to one man for a total of forty-nine years. She and my father had five children together, three boys and two girls. They both worked very hard to provide for their family. My father drove trucks and my mother was a cook and bus driver. My father worked long hours from early morning till sometimes late at night. However, my mother was able to be at home with us, for she worked from 7 A.M. till 3 P.M. Therefore my mom was able to provide a good home for her husband and children.
She took her role as a wife and mother very seriously. She cooked the best of meals, and kept the house very clean, you really could eat off the floor. The laundry was always done, and we always had clean clothes, and they were ironed as well. She made sure we did our homework, and whatever else we needed for school, momma made sure we had it. If there was a meeting, a school program, or school trip, football, basketball, or baseball game, choir musical or dance, and we had to be there, momma made every effort to be there with us. My mother attended each one of her children graduation’s from high school and escorted us off to college. If our choice was college, vocational school, moving to another state or simply getting our first job, my mom was right there. My dad was there, but he believed in providing for the family and he knew mom would much rather be there.
After the graduation of all five of her children, it wasn’t long before her first grandchild would be born. My mother retired from work two weeks after the birth of her granddaughter. Momma took on a whole new role in life, the best grandmother ever. Being a grandmother was her most cherished profession. Soon after the birth of the first grandchild, two years later, she witnessed the birth of her second grandchild, who would be her first grandson. Afterward, my mother and father had grandchildren from each of their five children. She was bubbling with joy.
Momma loved keeping her grandchildren in the evening when they would get out of school. Their favorite thing was to ride the school bus to grandma house. They enjoyed this because they knew grandma would have dinner ready and all types of snacks ready for them. She made sure they did their homework and after doing homework, they could watch television and play outside. Momma was a great mom, but she was an even better grandmother. The grandchildren got away with stuff her children would have never gotten away with. Her grandchildren became her children. Momma supported them in whatever they did. School, games, programs, graduations, you name it, she was there, just as if she was the proud mother.
Not only was momma a great mother and grandmother, she was the best sister a sibling could have. Momma
