About this ebook
Lucy Smiles
Born and raised in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, Diane Lauzon, who writes under the pseudonym, Lucy Smiles, resides in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Her nickname, Lucy , which she shares with her best friend and older sister, Yvonne, has come a long way in her walk into creative and expressive inspirations. She is now known by her friends, as Lucy Smiles. Lucy has gracefully decided to share her personal journey by expressing her heart through her writings. She touches on human feelings, fears, and confronting life with a positive outlook. She takes what some would call unconditional love, passion for life, the ability to give to others and generously shares her inner thoughts and feelings daily in the form of letters and phrases that she calls “Daily Smiles” Lucy created this book of specially selected "smiles" accompanied by photos of the smiles of friends who have touched her life along the way. "Blessed to reach thousands of friends around the globe, my purpose with my daily writing, and now this book, is to help others shift their thoughts to create peaceful and compassionate energy, amidst the chaos that we all have surrounding our very real day to day lives. If above all else, this book makes you crack a contagious smile, I will be smiling right back!"- Lucy Smiles To receive Lucy’s daily smiles emails, please contact her directly at lucysmiles@heartoflife.biz You can read her archived smiles on her blog at: www.lucysmiles.blogspot.com

Introduction
Lie still. Keep your heels together and your hands by your side with your palms up. Don’t think of anything but being here, now. Breathe normally through your nose, and just be. Lie still.
I wonder if that eye shadow will go with my new skirt.
Cute guy—I am sure he has a girlfriend.
"If I eat a whole celery stalk before my meal, does my meal lose calories?
How does that work exactly? Maybe I won’t even be hungry for my meal after that!"
How many of us, either through group meditation, yoga or any other form of relaxation method have actually been able to tune out completely?
I have participated in many sessions, many different forms of getting into my soul, the deepest parts of my inner self, and really tried to pay attention to now
and being with.
I have to be honest. I am able and accepting of paying attention to my breathing, since I realize many of the times I am not breathing at all. I am also very much paying attention to more than I normally would because now I have been asked not to.
I am not here to claim to be an inspirational guru, a spiritual leader or a motivational master.
I have not studied for years in India nor have I ever spoken in front of an audience to educate my insight to the world. I have never even been overseas and I only just finally took the initiative to get my passport, two years ago just after turning 30.
So why are you reading what I am writing?
Well, I am hoping it is because you relate to what I have to say, simply because we have all at one point or another, felt similar emotions, have been through the similar experiences, if even generally speaking, and we all have the biggest thing in common— we think.
The writings of this book came to be because there are so many thoughts in my head that I needed to get them out.
What better way to get them out of my head than to get them into yours?
So, though I haven’t mastered the world of e-commerce, I haven’t created a fool proof system for financial freedom, and I certainly haven’t found the seven secret steps to a successful life-long relationship with our partners, I have put a lot of thought into this.
We have so much to say and spend so much time saying it to ourselves, that we neglect the true communication with all those around us.
My intention for this book is to help you, if perhaps even just to shift your thoughts for a moment. Since the majority of our thoughts are negative, I claim this book to be of purpose. In fact, I am positive!
I am not going to research neurological findings or pharmaceutical and alternative methods of medication to perhaps enhance or completely alter our thoughts, either.
I will leave that to the professionals!
I am here to have fun, make you laugh or even make you cry, if you wish, or need to. Maybe my smiles
will be just like the stories in your mind. You will be that much more relieved that at least one other person on this earth has experienced the same thing or similar; or at least one other person on this earth is willing to admit it! There is no workbook attached, but perhaps this will help you work on admitting certain things about your life and allow you to perhaps take action where you were otherwise afraid to.
Lastly, this book may allow you to take hold of what is near and dear to your heart or bring those in your life closer to your heart.
Whatever the case, I am hopeful that after reading this book of smiles, you can take with you many lessons, many new and bright ideas, of what it means to live with a purpose and what it means to accept yourself, through good and bad, pretty and ugly, bitter or ever so sweet.
If perhaps, after reading this book, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth, then I apologize. I cannot get those hours back for you. But I will thank you now for giving me those hours, as help in supporting my passion to write a book that will be read by at least one other person beside my editor.
(Oh, I love even just saying that I have an editor!)
Not to mention, as the universe claims ever so generously, you get back tenfold of what you give, so if anything you actually did yourself a favor by supporting me in this scary journey to share my smiles.
Please, don’t close the book just yet.
Remember what I said about tenfold?
Thank you!
Love Lucy Smiles
Dedication
image.pdfThis book is dedicated to my Lucy Smiles,
my big sister and biggest supporter
in my life, Yvonne.
Without your hand to hold mine
and your heart to love me unconditionally,
none of my book would exist.
There is not one part of my childhood growing up,
where you were not right by my side, making sure that I was cared for,
loved and safe.
Since I could remember, we have been called the 2 Lucys,
and always will be attached at the hip,
no matter how far our lives take us on our journey.
It always seems, no matter what is going on in your life,
you always have to make sure I am ok. Any time I feel I am falling,
you are there to pick me up. Every time I am afraid to move forward,
you remind me why I must keep going.
How did I get so blessed to have a big sister and best friend like you?
Some questions are better left unanswered.
If I can only be there for you as much as you are for me,
it is all I will do to be sure you know how special you are.
I love you Lucy. Every word in this book has been written,
thanks to your presence in my life.
Love,
Little Lucy
Acknowledgements
I would like to acknowledge the enormous support and friendships of so many of you
who have changed my life, and shifted my thoughts, which allowed me to write.
For my Goddesses, you all know who you are; but a special thanks to:
Aunt Sue, thank you. You always know.
Cindy, Cassandra, and Christina—Our stumbles into each others’ lives
will always take my breath away! As we say You can’t make this stuff up!
Jenn Simpson— Something has got to be done, so we are just going to have to do something
Our mantra from the college years! No matter how far we are, we always know that the day will indeed come, that we are sitting on our porch together, with our hot milky tea, and our green slacks, and perms. Goddess, help us!
Christine Seguin—From creating playhouses in your basement to creative fantasy
business plans for 3Girls.Inc, there has never been a dull moment for us. From 13 to 31,
we have stuck through together through bad boyfriends and bad hair days.
Thanks for always making me laugh!
Phebes—Let’s be honest! The word Magic
in my life has your name all over it!
You are my favorite travel partner and SOC Rock Star! Anything I can do
to support you, like you have supported me, just say the word!
Susan—You are why I believe in my Goddess strengths, as a woman, as a warrior.
Vanessa—We obviously still have some magical work to do together, so our reconnection
at 6am one summer morning came early, and I plan on many more memories ahead!
I could go on. Goddesses from A (Anne, Amanda) to Z (Zahra),
but that would be a whole other book.
I must attempt to balance out
