Dedications
This book is dedicated to my late mother (Elaine Whitehead) who helped me become the man I am today, to my loving wife who is and have always been the woman of my dreams, and last my family and friends. I did not forget you all. You all know who you are, thank you for your support.
Acknowledgement
The reason I wrote this collection of poems is because I want the world to hear the power of one’s heart. Even though a heart is broken many times once it has that in which it desires those past pains are only moments in time. To think what is love is quite natural. To ask what is the depth of love and why does it hurt when it goes wrong are valiant questions if you put your heart on the line in search for the answer. I have done just this and I put the answer within the poems that are in this collection. The words that I have used for these poems are words that have come from my heart. Enjoy reading my heart and know that love does exist as God intended it to.
Pursuit
112608-THOM-layout.pdfA Dream
True enough
I think about you enough
To have my mind gone
Is that wrong
What I see
Is 90% make believe
Because it is only a dream
A dream of you and me
Will I know this dream
To be more
Will it ever be reality
I shall see
And then be at peace
112608-THOM-layout.pdf112608-THOM-layout.pdfA Heart’s Story
If my heart could write a story the things it would say about these days.
I wake up another day without her by my side
She has never been there
But now
Now knowing her I feel she has always been there
Almost a since of nostalgia
I long for her like a fitness of homesickness
This is what comes over me
I ache for I am his heart
I know he aches
I miss her dearly I do
You may ask how can you miss that which you never knew
And I will ask you
While wearing shades do you feel you really see the sun
That is how I loved before I loved her
I loved but not with the strength, passion, and all my will,
but most of all not with the pureness I have for her
This is how I love her
To think of love I think of her
To think of time I think of how long it will be before she is right before me
To think of a gift I think there is no greater gift a father would give his son than
A bride as lovely as this one
A man has his God
And I see what this man holds most dear
For she falls second only to the Mighty One
I am his heart
He thanks his God for her
He loves her
He cherish her
Knowing and feeling how this man loves this woman
Is a heavy burden
But a blessing in the same
I myself thank God for allowing me to be the heart of this man
To feel a love as precious as this
I know to be rare
For even a farmer must sow before he reaps
And that is what this man does without even seeing her
I hope she cherishes his love as much as I know he cherishes hers
If this is so they shall have much fruit to bear
And a beautiful harvest is there
112608-THOM-layout.pdf112608-THOM-layout.pdfA Hunter Am I
I am a hunter
A solitary hunter am I
I am human
I am no beast
I have no Pride
There is no pack needed
When it comes to hunting this prey
You may ask
What is my prey
For man’s prey is much
It could be the world if one sought it
But the world is not what I seek
The game that I am after
I can no longer say game
Because my prize means more to me
Than the hunt
And it is only one that I am after
A one of a kind
One that calls to my mind
I seek a woman if you didn’t already suspect
And these benevolent creatures
Are usually more cunning than I
For I do not use tricks and do my best not to lie
But I only use my beauty and
My eyes
With my smile I hypnotize
Then gently my
