Prologue
If you are currently employed in any capacity and forty years old or younger, chances are you will be involuntarily separated from what was thought to be a well-paid, secure job at least five times during your working life. On the other hand, if you are forty or over, unemployed, marginally employed, or temporarily employed, the likelihood of securing employment that is comparable with your education, experience, and earning history is unfortunately very doubtful. Although these grim facts may apply to the great majority of older individuals in the workforce, perhaps as high as 95%, the statistics do not have to apply to you.
The simple fact is, that regardless of the often depressing events reported on the six o’clock news and in our daily newspapers, in spite of the doom and gloom being reported by economists and Wall Street types, some people, about five percent of the population, always seem to do very well no matter what is going on in the world around them. For the fortunate 5% of the population there has never been a shortage of money; however, for the remaining 95% there is a constant shortage of ideas, ideas that translate into an abundance of wealth.
From PinkSlip 2 GreenPower is written for those of you who in the face of uncertainty and disappointment may have asked yourselves, What is it that they (the five percent) know that I don’t know,
when observing those who seem to be doing well in economic and/or difficult times.
What the five percent know that you may not know is the subject of this book. In this book I reveal to you the secret
of successful living, consistently enjoyed by five percent of the population, whose lives seem to be impervious to the whims and uncertainties of life that are so common for the masses of ordinary people. So sit back, relax and let your mind get free of the limiting constraints forced upon you by others that have been used to describe and define your reality. I promise you—you will never look at the world in the same way again.

Introduction
According to the United States Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics¹, from January 2001 through December 2003, 11.5 million workers lost their jobs. Of that number, 5.3 million long-tenured workers lost jobs they had held for at least three years. In January 2004, 45 percent of older workers ages fifty-five to sixty-four years of age were less likely to find new employment than younger workers, and only 25 percent of workers over sixty-five years could expect to find new employment. Almost daily, news sources report plant closings and job losses from around the country. Job loss—whenever it occurs—can have a devastating impact, particularly on the older, more experienced worker. These facts and the solution available to a beleaguered mature labor force are the impetus for this book.
From PinkSlip 2 GreenPower is a career-resurrection guide written for individuals who are experiencing the uncertainty of having to plot a new course in their lives, particularly individuals who have lost
