    A Passage Through 9/11 - Nadia Ohar

    CHAPTER ONE

Melanie Williams picked up the picture on her desk and stared into the eyes of her loving husband, Frank, and felt the warmth flow into her rosy cheeks. Today would be her last day at The People’s Choice Magazine and it was time for her to leave the only job she had ever known and loved in order to save her marriage. She pressed the photo close to her bosom hoping it would help relieve some of the pressure she felt on her chest. She breathed heavily as if she had been chased by a monster. Her emotions were in place, and Melanie refused to get in touch with all the pain she had collected during the past several years. She had worked hard to get to the top of her profession and now she felt like it had all been for nothing. She would now have to leave this job to save her marriage because her husband, Frank, had threatened to leave if she stayed here. Her marriage had suffered terribly because of her long hours and unavailability and now she wanted to make things right at home. Frank, had been patient in the beginning, but after their daughter Sarah was born, everything seemed to change suddenly. She had promised to work only a few hours at the office, but that promise changed shortly after she went back to work. Demands were placed on her at the office; interviews, writing, editing, deadlines and more interviews. How did it get out of control so quickly? What could she have possibly said no to at the beginning of her circumstances so she didn’t have to dig herself out of a hole she always found herself buried in?

Her husband had been fortunate enough to work from home using the computer to design labels for different companies. This allowed him the time to stay home with their beautiful daughter Sarah.

Melanie reflected on the day Sarah was born like it was just yesterday. She remembered the commitment she made to go through birth, naturally, without drugs, so her baby could start a new life without the effects of drugs or any other obstacle to overcome. She had made good on her promise and four hours later, with Frank by her side, her little girl was placed in her arms to be loved and protected. Here it was, four years later, and Melanie was finally going to make good on that promise by leaving her job so she would be available to love and protect her daughter and not miss out on any more firsts that took place while she was at work. And what about her promise to Frank? To love and cherish, to death do us part. Was working overtime and putting him second really loving him? Melanie pulled the photo away from her chest and looked into the eyes of her husband who seemed to be staring into the core of her soul. This time she didn’t look away as she allowed the tears to stream down her face while she mentally asked for his forgiveness. How gentle and handsome he looked and Melanie wondered why it was now apparent to her the depth of her loss if he decided to leave her. Why did she have to wait until the brink of catastrophe before she decided to change her behavior? Melanie knew it was really the choices she made that complicated her life.

She looked closer at the photo and brushed the dust off Sarah’s smiling face, while her tears flowed even harder than before.

I’m so sorry honey. Mommy didn’t know she was hurting you. That is the last thing I would ever want to do to you. I’m coming home, don’t you worry, and everything will be okay.

Melanie ran her fingers over the curls on Sarah’s forehead and felt a moment of pride for the beautiful child she had produced. She marveled at the light blonde hair that her daughter inherited from her great grandmother, and the light blue eyes that always seemed to sparkle every time she flashed a smile in her direction. Her complexion was smooth and her oval face complemented the rosy cheeks that seemed to carry a hint of rouge that rested naturally under her cheekbones. Blue eyes, blonde hair, it doesn’t get any better than this, she thought. Once again, she felt the pangs of guilt over the times she missed Sarah’s firsts. She would never get that time back again but she vowed she would do whatever it would take to be available from this day forward. She admired Frank for loving Sarah more than life itself and perhaps he had felt that way about herself at one time, but now, things had changed and Melanie was not sure she could make something right that had gone so wrong in her marriage. Frank hadn’t drank before they were married, but the last few years Melanie noticed he would have a beer occasionally, and then the six-pack in the refrigerator would turn into a case. Melanie was not worried that Frank would harm Sarah with his drinking because he would not drink until Sarah was safe in bed and out of harms way. Besides, Melanie knew she would be home at night to make sure everything was okay. Frank did however, spend his nights on the couch and Melanie gave up trying to convince him to come to bed after many failed attempts. She resigned herself to let things go on as long as she could but now that her marriage was on the brink of despair, she decided that it was time to come out of the stomach of the whale that had swallowed her, many years ago. That whale was the corporate world; and Melanie felt like Jonah, trying to find her way back again.

    CHAPTER TWO

Caretaker, do you really think I’ll be one of the lucky ones to be able to travel to Earth when I gain more knowledge?

Yes, Selena, if you believe long and hard enough, your thoughts will certainly bring you to that place.

Selena’s Caretaker could see the rainbow color that surrounded her aura, which represented excitement, as the light from the moon shone through the concave opening to magnify her intelligence. Selena would glow for a long time when she thought of journeying to Earth and Caretaker would have to encourage her to participate in her own planet before thinking of going elsewhere. ‘The planet is always greener somewhere else’ Caretaker thought.

Caretaker knew that Selena was an advanced being and wanted to encourage her to use knowledge for her own planet, Euphoria, before going elsewhere in the Universe to shine her light. Their beings had a responsibility to gain knowledge by studying in Neptune School to learn how to share their knowledge with dreamers of other planets. Selena would eventually have to learn how to raise her vibration level, and connect with a dreamer of the same vibration, to allow information to flow into the dreamer’s thoughts. Most dreamers were from Earth’s atmosphere, and they were the ones that needed help the most in finding their way.

Euphorians were taught how to connect with the person dreaming because they were more receptive to receiving information while asleep. Information received would guide them when they awoke and functioning on a conscious level. Dream travel would be relatively safe as long as the dreamer didn’t expire during the process. A Euphorian could get trapped on Earth if that was to happen.

Caretaker knew it was only a matter of time before safe travel would be created and the danger of being lost on a planet would not be an issue. She was familiar with communicating with Seth, the educator on their planet, and Selena would soon be entering Dream School with Seth as her instructor. He would assist her in different levels of her journey. Seth would take over teaching Selena where Caretaker left off.

Selena, you will soon be entering Dream School and be in contact with the best instructor this planet has ever known. It is good that you use your talents to help others with their issues during their sleep time. It is important that you follow the rules along the way. First and foremost, after you build your vibration, you are only allowed to stay in a dream for a short time in order to stay safe. You do know, if you get trapped between worlds, you would have to connect energies with another being from this planet to get back and that system is not in place at this time. For now, you just need to concentrate on dreams and helping dreamers. That is the purpose of your being. Anything more than that is disregarding your creative energies and you run the risk of losing them. Seth is very particular about his students following the laws of his commands, and anything that is not obeyed, will be subject to early dismissal from his class. Selena, be content with doing your meditation practices and get ready for wherever the light takes you at your vibration level. This way you can focus on giving wisdom to the dreamers during their sleep time. You will learn from Seth, the greatest educator known to our planet. Keep your thoughts alive by feeding them positive energy.

Caretaker, do you not know that I am well advanced even before entering this Dream School? This Seth teacher might well learn something from me during our interlude together.

Selena, do not underestimate the dangers that lurk outside our planet. Yes, you are an advanced being, but your purpose is taking knowledge to dreamers and Seth is the expert at direction and safety!

Selena could feel Caretaker’s concern and decided to focus on thoughts that were much less intense. She understood how hard it would be for Caretaker to release her to the instructor so she could venture out on her own talents. Knowledge being the number one priority on this planet, kept Selena confident in her nature and she realized it was time to develop her energies to go deeper in her quest to help others.

I will release you tomorrow when the sun’s rays come into our place of living. You will be guided to your class and you will follow the lead of your instructor. I honor you, Selena.

    I honor you too, Caretaker.

    CHAPTER THREE

Frank Williams smiled as he enjoyed sampling the corner of Sarah’s lightly toasted bagel, as she pushed it into the center of his mouth. They were both enjoying a breakfast fiesta together and celebrating Melanie’s last day on the job. Frank knew Sarah didn’t understand the magnitude of her mother’s unavailability. He had been careful to tend to all her needs so she wouldn’t feel that something was missing in her life. Frank, on the other hand, knew what was missing because he had a deep, intimate relationship with Melanie, even before they were married. They had met at a conference pertaining to design and photography, and both he and Melanie had expertise in the area of writing and putting together articles for publication. Frank had been seated across from Melanie and he could feel her intense gaze out of the corner of his eye. When he would turn his head to make eye contact, she would quickly turn away. There was a shyness about her that appealed to Frank’s softer side, and he felt the need to protect her right from the beginning of their relationship. They had coffee together during breaks and agreed to dinner after the conference ended. That’s when Frank was able to break down the invisible barrier that seemed to exist between them and gain Melanie’s trust when he gave her a kiss on the cheek at the end of the night. He took her number and promised to call her again. Frank had intended to wait for a few days before he called, but he couldn’t get the image of her flowing, blonde hair, and deep blue eyes out of his mind. He was glad that she accepted his invitation to meet again, and after that it was history. Frank didn’t know until later that Melanie was attracted to him because of his tall, lean, physique, and also his piercing dark eyes that seemed to penetrate her soul. Their relationship developed into an on again, off again, cycle and it wasn’t until Melanie gave Frank an ultimatum that they both decided to get married. Nine months later, Sarah was born and they both couldn’t be happier. Their lives seemed to stabilize until Melanie grew restless and decided to go back to work as a magazine editor. Frank knew his job would allow him to work at home and he would be able to watch Sarah, but it wasn’t until Melanie’s work hours increased that Frank grew tired of her broken promises both to Sarah and himself.

Sarah’s laugh brought Frank back into the present moment and he jokingly nibbled at her fingers as she clutched her bagel. Sarah loved to have fun and she could bring Frank out of a pending bad mood at any given moment. Her blue eyes danced every time she spoke and Frank enjoyed listening to her laugh when they both interacted in a playful manner. His stomach tightened every time he thought of Melanie’s absence and what she was missing being away from her only child.

These four years flew by and before they knew it, Sarah would be heading off to school next year. Again, Frank turned his attention to Sarah and they both were anticipating something good to happen in their lives this very day. Melanie was coming home and they could finally enjoy life as a family, once again . . . this thought was short-lived. No one knew the devastation that was to take place in the next few hours. Not Sarah . . . not Frank . . . not even Melanie.

    CHAPTER FOUR

Selena opened the portals of her mind and imagined herself on the verge of a very important dream journey that would take her anywhere she wanted to go in the universe. Her Caretaker had enrolled her in classes at Neptune School where she would learn and practice how to journey through her thoughts and vibrations to travel to someone else’s dream. She could accomplish anything when she set her mind and focused her thoughts on the outcome. Caretaker had given her the basics but Selena would now see what it was like to enter dreams. She thought it would be easy to build a vibration and enter a dream. The next step would be to lower her vibration to remain in the dream for a short time to explore the situation and give knowledge that would benefit the dreamer. After that, she would then higher her vibration, once again, to bring herself back home. Timing would be of utmost importance during this process. Here at Neptune School, Selena would learn how to tune in and turn up her vibration level as needed. The instructor was particularly fond of Selena for her intense commitment to learn and her burning desire to achieve her goals. He focused his knowledge in her direction and she could tell she was favored. She would pretend she needed his help more than she really did just to gain his trust.

Okay class that’s enough for today but I do want you to practice those breathing exercises we performed today. I also want you to be ready to come in and practice on a small dream before we build into something big.

Big could mean anything in this business, thought Selena. She knew all too well that Seth, her teacher, was reluctant to encourage any planet exploration. He would always leave the class with a promise of something more but that more was never defined. Selena
