The House of Prayer
()
About this ebook
when you meet together in a room praying, the room turns from being
a normal place to being a House for God. God enthrones as King of the
meeting. Hallelujah. Gods desire is to head His house no matter how small
you see it. Dont look down on the ministry you are doing whether in the
church or at home or elsewhere. Wherever you meet to call on the name
of the Lord is your house of prayer. You can look through church history
till today and it will amaze you that most ministries started with two or
three people, whether family members or co-workers or just friends. This
is because they met as just friends or family but with God as the owner of
the house.

Dedications and Appreciations
I wish to dedicate this book to the loving memory of my late daddy, Thomas Owusu Lane. He was a man with a godly character and a man of prayer. He made us (his children) know that God was all we needed in life. Secondly, I would like to dedicate this book to one of the generals of the Christian faith and of my life, the late archbishop Benson Idahosa. Though I only got to know of him after his death, his messages have influenced my life greatly.
To my pastor, Vladimir Tatarinov, of the New Life Church; Voronezh, Russia; and his congregation, thank you so much for the fellowship, care, love, and for the support you gave me in the most difficult times of my life. Thank you for giving me the platform to exhibit my godly gift and calling. God richly bless you!
I would like to thank the Church of Christian Compassion, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for their love and care. To the senior pastor, W. Lonnie Herndon, and his loving wife as well, for his timely messages and application of godly wisdom to all issues and matters pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
I will like to say a big thank you to my mum for her love and timely advice. My siblings, Benjamin, Linda, Grace, Daniel, and Christiana—you are my inspiration. To my fiancée and best friend, Emily-Ann Allotey, I would like to say a big thank-you. Your love is pure and your respect for the anointing increases the flow.
I love you.
A friend once told me I had something to give to the world and my generation. I believe the message was prophetic. To Abel Ohene Acquaye, vice president of NUGS-Russia, thank you so much for everything. Your editing and advice have enhanced these little pages into a powerful book.
To all SFC members past and present, thank you for showing godly love and making it abound.
The House of Prayer Is God’s House
There has been much confusion in the Church of Christ over the years. Issues have been raised in the aspect of healing, deliverance, music, etc., but little is said on the matter of prayer, the main purpose of the House of God. The devil knows this and prevents the House of God from praying. The church for some years now has time for almost everything but prayers. Nothing we do moves the devil out of the church like prayer. I want you to understand that the church (house) belongs to God. The House of Prayer belongs to God, and every Christian must be actively involved in keeping it alive.
Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.
It is written,
he said to them, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it a ‘den of robbers.’
The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.
But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, Hosanna to the Son of David,
they were indignant.
Do you hear what these children are saying? they asked him.
Yes, replied Jesus,
have you never read, ‘From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise’?"
And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night.
(Matthew 21:12-17)
Look at verse the verse 13 from the apostle Mark’s point of view
And as he taught them, he said, Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’
(Mark 11:17)
Jesus has a time that He visits His house, and I’m wondering what He will find going on in the church He has called you to be a member of or to lead. Jesus keeps on entering houses (churches), and I can promise you that with this book in your hands, very soon He will come around. What will He find there? What God wants to find in the house is the purpose of this book. There are some requirements He desires in His house, the church.
You might be the leader of a church, but it must be understood that you are definitely not the owner. Human as we are, we desire to possess possessions, but here we should be careful how we manage the house because it is God’s and He desires you to do as He pleases and not what you believe is good for the day.
Before I come to what the house is all about, let me take time to explain what a house of prayer is. The House of Prayer is a gathering of the people of God. The House of Prayer isn’t just a building where people meet. There is more to the people involved in the house than the place in which it is located. This is to say that the hearts involved is the most important entity. What is a house? A house is a building for human habitation. That is just so simple. So a house of prayer is simply a place where prayer lives. An environment with the main purpose of communicating to God. Glory be to God. This means that anywhere can be a house of prayer. But for convenience’s sake, a special structure can be erected to be a place of prayer or meeting, but it doesn’t mean God won’t be in your room if you gather and call on Him, for it is written:
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
(Matthew 18:20)
God is where He is invited, and the House of Prayer simply means where two or three people meet and call on the name of the Lord or invite Him in their midst. There is more to calling on the name of the Lord than a building. It is good to meet in good buildings, but its better when the purpose of the meeting is to call on the name of God. Calling on the name of God simply means according Him the ownership on the house. Let it be that you desire to call on Him. The House of Prayer is for God.
A family home can be tuned into a house of prayer when two or three members of the house meet and invite God. An office can be a house of prayer when the workers meet and call on the Lord. The House of Prayer isn’t just a church building but a place where people meet with one heart and call on the name of the Lord. If you are a leader for your family’s bible studies, it simply means you are the head and the Lord has things He is expecting from you as the leader of His house. You don’t have to be a full-time minister to be used by God. You just have to be in His hands to be used by Him. This is all the House of Prayer is about; understanding that the house is for God and that He is the master of the house, thereby giving Him the first place and doing as He pleases and requires.
Prayer is a communication between God and man, this means that just when you meet together in a room praying, the room turns from being a normal place to being a House for God. God enthrones as King of the meeting. Hallelujah. God’s desire is to head His house no matter how small you see it. Don’t look down on the ministry you are doing whether in the church or at home or elsewhere. Wherever you meet to call on the name of the Lord is your house of prayer. You can look through church history till today and it will amaze you that most ministries started with two or three people, whether family members or co-workers or just friends. This is because they met as just friends or family but with God as the owner of the house.
