    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

God gave me innumerable gifts and for this I will be eternally grateful. Not only has He blessed me with gifts, he has also given me the wife of my dreams. And with all these blessings, he gave me a commission to write. I am overwhelmed by one single amazing inexplicable truth that as a writer, not once in twenty years did I experience writer’s block. In addition, God has helped me overcome a very traumatic childhood and fought my battles for me. Little did I know after my mother died when I was just thirteen, what lay ahead, the struggles, the rejection, and the threats on my unprotected neglected young ambitious life! He has instructed me in the night watches and put a song in my heart. When I finally came to Christ and became a Christian, I realized hearing God must top my list of priorities. Hearing is what led to writing this book. The idea for this book came through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I have seen How to Enter a New Year create instant changes in people’s lives and that’s a great privilege for me. I am also very grateful to God for the people He sent my way, the hardships I have encountered along the way, and the strength that came with the adversities and encouragement. I am particularly grateful for the Holy Spirit’s leading into some of the secrets of the inner chamber of divine wisdom. The late Bishop Charlie Burroughs Sr., Bishop Julius Abiola are men of God who connected me with God’s ministerial mantle. I will always be grateful for their love, support, and believe in me. To Ade, my wife, loving supporter, and best friend, I will always be grateful. To friends, church members and fellow pastors particularly those pastors who joined us with their entire congregations at Apostle Elmo Winters’ church for the very first joint New Year’s Eve service in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Over four different churches and fellowships from the Baton Rouge area came together for this event. Since then, I have learnt how to enter a New Year powerfully and prayerfully with cumulative confidence and a clearer vision. I wish the same for you.

    Introduction

Entering a New Year without a clearly defined strategy is like crossing a busy street in New York blindfolded. The consequences can be quite devastating. Loss of limb, life and lifestyle that leaves your loved ones in even greater pain can all occur even when that’s not what most intended. If you enter a New Year without a plan or thoughtfully spoken destiny-shaping words to go ahead of you and inform the months to open up to you, you’re crossing the busy street called New Year blindfolded. I want you to imagine the number of activities that would take place every day all over the world in the coming year. Then ask yourself if it is wise to just jump in without thinking of who you are, what you ought to contribute to the year, why you are on earth, and if there is anything you should be aware of, before entering the New Year. The last but equally important question you should also ask yourself is: are your words powerful enough to speak to the coming year to release its good treasures to you? If you have the answers to these questions, you’re in good shape. Over the years of engaging people in discussions and teaching, however, I have found that few people have answers to these questions. They cross into the New Year blindfolded and become easy pray for failure and every wind of adversity rather than experience the success materially and spiritually that God intended. Only a few on the entire planet know how to enter a New Year and if you are one of them, you’re extremely blessed. If you don’t, How To Enter A New Year will show you how and your life will never be the same again.

It takes wisdom and skill to enter a New Year, succeed that year, live your dreams and experience the best God has for you that year. Such wisdom comes from years of observation, experience, listening and learning from your successes and failures. It also comes from obeying the still small voice of God and the louder voice of others who share their thoughts, wisdom, mistakes and strengths with you either directly in person or through their books and other available media. The major source of wisdom on this planet is God. Unfortunately, very few want to be bothered with God or the wisdom he has provided for helping us enter into a new season or year of life. If you want to experience the same good things you experienced the year before or better or perhaps experience a dramatic change from failure or obscurity to success in the coming year, you cannot enter the New Year carelessly. You will need a strategy. That strategy is what I am sharing with you in this book. Whether it’s a New Year, new season, new job or new lease on life, there are wise strategies you can use for entering, enjoying and finishing well.

Every New Year represents the beginning of better things in our lives and an opportunity to break away from old patterns of failure and incomplete breakthroughs. If you want to experience a dramatic change in your life, you must understand how to end one year, enter another one, and the transition period between both years. One of the things you must know is the planting season for the benefits and blessings of the coming New Year. How to Enter A New Year shows you how to mentally, spiritually and emotionally prepare for a New Year and in most instances, a new season of your life.

If for any reason, you couldn’t start praying early and you came
