Overcoming Depression: One Christian's Perspective
()
About this ebook
Overcoming Depression One Christians Perspective is a personal account detailing how one woman overcame depression through natural and spiritual intervention. Marilyn Okoye experienced first-hand the effects of clinical depression. As a Christian, Okoye had to reconcile the often minimized symptons of depression to the very real emotional despair of living day to day with real hopelessness.
Okoye challenges the reader to acknowledge the real pain that many are living with daily because of undiagnosed depression. She further encourages those suffering from depression to value who they are in God enough to take their symptoms seriously.
Using scripture and poetry throughout the book, Okoye provides a unique approach to healing and self-discovery. The book encourages the reader to become mentally, emotionally, and spiritually healthy. Okoye demonstrates for us that with Gods help one can truly be free from depression.
"I would not let the emotional despair of depression take hold of my life without taking a stand; so, I purposed in my heart to take this journey to overcome depression leaning and depending on the everlasting arms of Jesus. This particular time in my life was an emotional roller coaster I had never ridden before. So, as I tell my testimony of overcoming depression and how God delivered me from going down into the emotional pit of depression, it is my prayer that you would also purpose in your heart to overcome because greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world (Jn. 4:4)."
There is help naturally, emotionally, and spiritually is the message of this book.
Marilyn Okoye
Marilyn Okoye ( 1967- ) a Chicago native and the mother of three beautiful children, is an author, actress, and motivational speaker. She started writing poetry about 12 years ago. She noticed was most of her inspirations came from minor and major life changing events. Her first writing came when two family members were constantly arguing. It was close to their 15th year wedding anniversary. The end result was a poem entitled Anniversary Prayer. She realized that God had given her a special gift. Many of her later writings came at a point in her life when she experienced depression. She says "What I love most about that season in my life was that my writings where centered on God's love. It amazed me when I think that despite the enormous emotional pain I experienced, deep down inside, love still remained. Most importantly, the Love of God remained. I prayed and asked God that all my writings be scripturally based. He has not failed me yet." Overcoming Depression - One Christian's Perspective, Her first published book available on all e-book formats details her triumph over depression and challenges the reader to acknowledge the real pain that many are living with daily. There is help naturally, emotionally, and spiritually is the message of this book. Her latest book, Living Water Creations - A Book of Poetic Thoughts (Kindle Edition) expresses affirmation, love, confidence, protection, direction, safety, and assurance. You can feel the power of these words in each piece no matter what your disposition may be. Uplifting and Inspirational writings to encourage the Mind, Body and Spirit. Dedication
This book is dedicated to my mom. Many years ago I saw your pain. I did not comprehend its depth; however, I knew it was there, and I knew it was deep. After that, I saw your strength. I did not understand its magnitude; nevertheless, you bore the weight of your struggle while you held our family together. Finally, I witnessed your determination. I tried to ascertain its value; overtime, it became the example I chose to follow, the invaluable principle that kept me focused. Mom, you have given me a foundation of love, hope, and faith, established on the Word of God. Thank you for training me in the way I should go.
To my children, Jazzmin, Emmanuel, Jr., and Amalachukwu—lessons lived are lessons learned; lessons missed are lessons that will have to be repeated. It’s okay to learn something from someone else’s lessons. Pain, strength and determination, love, hope and faith—they are all a part of life’s lessons; don’t miss them.
To my siblings, Robert, Maurice, Latrecha, Ericka, Michelle, and Christopher, my family and extended family both here and afar—the sky’s the limit, let the Holy Spirit be your guide.
This book is also dedicated to the sweet memories
