Introduction
Good day everyone. I am Charles Henry Ickens, or C.H., for short. I am sharing with you a journal of my adventures. Adventures of which would not be if it were not for a select few who have allowed me to go forth and share the human experience. Or rather, in my case, the chicken experience. My wonderful human companions have inspired me to share my story with the masses of chickens out there. Chickens like me, who also wish to fly free.
If you are looking for the humor in life’s experiences; Humor that is found when you least expect it. Then, sit back. Take a break. Have a laugh. And enjoy an adventure or two.
Without further ado, these are The Adventures of C.H. Ickens, the Deep Fried Journey . . .

Chapter 1
A Crispy Beginning
This week’s adventure finds us out west . . . truly a hot and a dangerous place for a chicken to find himself. Brace yourselves my friends for this is a story of deadly proportions. It is true that certain individuals of the bipedal species choose to partake in a meal known as fast food. I was lucky enough to partake in such a meal. And I must say it is a very tasty thing indeed.
Now for those of you who are blissfully unaware, fast food is a meal in which you pull up to a box where a mysterious voice comes out and asks if you want fries with that. I am not sure what fries are yet, but I am certain in my adventures I will discover it.
After you speak with the magic talking box, you pull forward in your vehicle and hand a person in a small windowed cell a green paper. I do not yet know what this paper is but, I will do my best to find out. After you give this individual the green paper, you find yourself moving forward to yet the next cell. This person, who looks absolutely miserable, quickly hands you your drink and food. And then you drive away leaving this miserable individual behind to live their lives stuck in that tiny cell handing out their precious goods.
Oh those poor, poor people. They are treated much worse than those of us in the coops with electric fences. It’s very shocking how horrible the conditions are that they live in . . . But, I digress, back to our food.
When you open the bag you were given, you find the most amazing smells wafting out. There is something wrapped in paper and it smells absolutely heavenly. As I unwrap this delicious treat. I discover it is breaded and fried with seasonings that are so delicious it will make your mouth water uncontrollably. And the first bite is so wonderful I cannot express how tasty it was.
I inquired with my companions as to what it was I was eating and the reply came, Why it’s fried (they exchanged worried glances) um . . . poultry
. I could have sworn I heard a gulp in their throats. But, I dismissed it.
I found myself wondering, what is this fried poultry? It was absolutely heavenly. However, none of my companions would tell me. I was determined to find out what it could be. But, for now I had to continue on in amazement of how good food truly tastes.
We drove along for a long while, through the New Mexico and Arizona deserts. And all of a sudden that heavenly scent wafted my way. But, how could it be? We had eaten all of this poultry, and there was none left. I shook my head confused. And that’s when I saw it. The sun had been
