THE PROLOGUE
This gives the keynote to John and the first, second and third Epistle: the ETERNAL Godhead of the WORD
the wisdom of God who was made flesh (Jesus) that He created all things through Him.: so He might give light and life to those born again of His Spirit. On the other hand, Satan’s counterwork is there to no avail. His (Jesus) reflection by His own countrymen, though in His own person fulfilling all the laws, by making everything subject to Him (Jesus), all powers and principalities in heaven and in earth is given to Him by the GodHead: thus manifesting His glory in the holy believer.
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost knownst all about us from the beginning to end, for He is from the beginning of the ETERNITY
He plans everything in eternity and knows the end before it comes to a conclusion. God is infinite, you cannot find Him out unless He reveals, Himself to you. God the ETERNAL
GODHEAD and the SON in whom all power is given to Him visible and invisible.
BIOGRAPHY
The Apostle John is the son of Zebedee, Matt. 4:21, Mark 15:40. He lived in Galilee probably in Bethsaida—Luke 5:10, John 1:44, a fisherman Mark 1:19, 20—became a disciple of Jesus through John the Baptist (John 1:35): he was called an apostle. He was closest to Jesus during his earthly walk. John was there when Jarius daughter was raised from the dead (Mark 5:37, Luke 8:51). He was there when Jesus was on the Mount of Transfiguration (Matt. 17:1, Mark 9:2, Luke 9:28). James and John asked Jesus to call fire down on the Samaritans, but Jesus rebuked them saying, the Son of man came not to destroy man, but to give man life; and James and John was called Boanerges
(Son of Thunder) Mark 3:17, Luke 9:54).
The mother of John and James requested that they be given places of special honor in the coming kingdom (Mark 10:35. He helped Peter prepare the Passover (Luke 22:8); he lay close to Jesus breast at the Last Supper (John 18:15, 16), he witnessed the crucifixion of Jesus Christ (John 19:26, 27): he recognized Jesus at the Sea of Galilee (John 21:1-7), and active with Peter in the apostolic church (Acts 3:1-4, 22, B:14-17). He lived at an old age and is responsible for the fourth Gospel, the three Epistles and Revelation is attributed to him. To have a close relationship and to have been an eye witness to Jesus life, crucifixion, death, resurrection and to be with them and many others to see that God has manifest in Jesus to rise him again by His Spirit that will quicken us when the time comes, so we must be ready to meet the Lord.
That is why John had so much to say about Jesus, because his spirit was manifested with the Son of God. Just like Moses, John was blessed and anointed to preach and write the gospel of Jesus Christ and the future kingdom blessing. The eye witness, John, has given to us is written proof of that living spirit of Jesus Christ, our Saviour, so that the believer may be manifest with Christ. And the Spirit became the Word and the word became flesh and we beheld God goodness in our hands.
EXPLANATION
The fellowship with the Father and the Son is the subject and object. God is the light without darkness, but to have fellowship with Him, it is necessary to walk in the light as He is the Light. Confession and forgiveness of sin through Christ’s propitiation for the world and advocacy for the believers are a necessary preliminary: a further step is the positive way of keeping the commandments of God which is love as contrasted with hatred, the sum of disobedience.
According to their several stages of spiritual growth, children, fathers, young men, respectively forgiven, knowing the Father, and having overcome the wicked one, John exhorts them not to love the world, which is incompatible with the indwelling of the Love of the Father God. This anointed love dwelling in us and our continuing to abide in the Son and in the Father is the antidote against the antichristian teachers in the world, who are of the world, not of the church; and therefore have gone out from it.
God is righteous and holy; therefore, everyone that doeth righteousness is born of Him. Sonship involves present self purification, first because we desire to be like Him, even as He is pure; secondly, because we hope hereafter to be perfectly like Him in all His ways and being in the image of His likeness.
Our sonship is now hidden and it shall be manifested and we shall be made like Him when He shall be manifested, for our then seeing Him as He is involves transfiguration into His likeness.
In contrast, the children of the devil hate; the children of God love. Love assures us of acceptance with God for ourselves and our prayers, accompanied as they are with obedience to His commandments to the believers in Jesus Christ, and love one another.
The seal is the Spirit given to us. The denial of Christ and adherence to the world characterize the false spirits. The essential feature of sonship or birth of God is essential love to God, because God first loved us and gave His Son to die for us and consequently, love to the brethren as being sons of God like ourselves, and so victory over the world through belief in Jesus as the Son of God our High Priest in heaven
