CHAPTER 1
TROUBLE ARISES WHEN Jack Hilton, age forty-eight starts seeing another young blond woman named Lisa. Jack, a father of three, was happily married to his wife, Cindy, age thirty-four. Jack’s relationship faded when young Lisa, age twenty-six, moved into his office. She is a very attractive young woman with long blond hair and blue eyes, tall and slim.
Jack starts missing dinner at home after spending most of his evenings with his girlfriend Lisa.
Jack is a very professional lawyer, intelligent, and is a hardworking man. He is a very dedicated father and husband to his wife and children. They have three children together. His eldest son’s name is Jonathan, age twelve daughter Vera, age eight, and son Neil, age four. His wife, Cindy, is a journalist who worked for one of the largest newspaper companies in the city.
Cindy started to have suspicious feelings about Jack’s behavior. It’s been going on for some time now.
Every time Jack came home late, he always made up excuses. The children are terrified what is going on with their father.
Dad always comes home late,
said Neil to his mother. Jack starts lying to his family, telling his wife and children that he is staying at work late because he has many projects he is working on which needed to be completed. Cindy didn’t take that for an answer.
Patience was running out for Cindy. She decided to take it in hand and to find out for herself what is going on in her husband’s life. She wanted to go secretly to his office to see for herself.
Cindy didn’t want to tell her parents about Jack’s behavior. Her parents are seniors, and she just doesn’t want them worry about her problems. Her father, Jeff, age sixty-six, recently had a heart surgery and barely survived his operation.
The next evening Cindy decided to go to see for herself if it was true her husband is working late at night.
Cindy put the children to bed. The nanny was home. She then left the house quietly and said to the nanny she will be home soon and for her to read stories to the children until they fell asleep.
Cindy walked quietly through the back door then to the side entrance door where her car parked.
She opened the car door. Her car is a new Mercedes-Benz sports car with an opened sunroof painted in a rich Indian red color, a very stunning color. She went into her car, put on her seat belt, then started the engine and drove off quickly. The children didn’t know when she left.
Jack and Cindy own a law firm and have numerous office staff and many qualified lawyers working for their company.
Money is not an issue for Jack and Cindy. Both always take numerous holidays with their children and are very close to their family.
Cindy drove out to the main road heading to the highway. The office was about eight miles away from home.
She exited out to the side road, which was a shortcut to the office, then drove to her company building and parked. The parking lot was empty, and the place was very dark.
She came out of her car and looked around, looking for her husband’s car. No signs of Jack’s car. She walked behind the building and looked around nothing was there.
Across the street was a coffee shop where Jack always goes on his spare time. He sometimes met his client there at the coffee shop. Jack always goes there to buy fresh brewed coffee before he goes to his office. Cindy’s mind focused on the coffee shop thinking he might be there.
She crossed over the road and walked into the coffee shop. There were hardly any cars passing by. She went in the shop and asked the cashier if he saw a man wearing a grey suit with a white shirt came into this shop. The cashier replied to her no. He then tried to think and remembered seeing a Mercedes-Benz parked at the back of the coffee shop. Ray was wondering, whose car was it? No person was in the coffee shop except him.
He told Cindy his shift had started an hour ago. Cindy was curious to know if the car was her husband’s. Jack also drove the latest model of Mercedes-Benz.
Cindy asked the cashier for his name. He said his name is Ray. She said to him, Please, can you follow me to the back? I would like to look at the Mercedes-Benz parked at the back of the building.
The place was very dark and lonely; hardly any lights were at the back of the building.
It was almost 10:00 p.m. The moon was visible in the sky; it was very dark.
Ray closed the cash register draw with his keys then came through the front door and followed Cindy to the back of the coffee shop.
Cindy saw the car and knew it was her husband’s car. She was in shock for a little while but didn’t say a word to Ray. She then said thank you to Ray. Then she walked away and hurried back to the entrance and walked to her law office across the road. Cindy walked very fast because the place was dark and time was moving very quickly, she was afraid.
She entered her law firm office building from the back door. She then walked to the entrance door and was about to open it. The security light was on red, which was situated inside the building.
She opened the door and took off the alarm then walked to the elevator. The building was empty; nobody was on the main floor.
Ray, the cashier from the coffee shop, was wondering where Cindy went. He was thinking why a beautiful young woman would walk alone this late at night.
His mind was on her for a while. Ray then went outside of the coffee shop and looked all around to see where she went. He saw no one outside then went back inside.
Cindy took the alarm off and walked to the elevator and looked around to see if anybody was around. She then pressed the elevator button. A few seconds later, the elevator arrived. The door opened, and she stepped in. The elevator stopped at the eighth floor, and the door opened. She then walked out to the floor.
She walked straight to Jack’s office to see if he was there.
She silently opened his door and peeked; no one was there. She then walked to his desk, sat on his chair, and opened the desk drawer, looking for any notes he might leave inside.
She looked in his diary for any notes and looked deeper into the draw. She found a camera, a very expensive camera, which she never knew about.
Jack never mentioned about this camera to her. She was thinking maybe it belong to one of his clients or maybe one of the lawyers. She then put the camera into her handbag, closed the door, then walked very quietly out of Jack’s office with a worried face. She was thinking where he could be at this hour of the night.
She kept walking on the main hallway leading to all the other offices and the sitting and dining area and looked all around for him.
She heard a low sound, like groaning, and wasn’t sure what noise it was. She took off her shoes and continued to walk slowly and silently with her bare feet on the carpet. Just a few steps away, she saw her husband, Jack, and a young girl with blond hair on the floor, in the middle of the staff dining area.
Cindy was in deep shock; she put her hand on her face then looked at them for a few minutes and stepped back. She walked a short distance away looking for a safe area to take pictures with both of them on the floor.
She steep down behind a chair quietly and took a couple of shots. Jack and Lisa did not suspect anything. Cindy is a journalist, so she knew how to operate a camera in a professional way. She then took the camera, put it into her handbag, and walked away quietly. Cindy felt dizzy for a moment after she left the area where she took the pictures.
She was in deep shock. She held her shoes in her hands then walked quietly to the elevator and put it on before she entered in the elevator.
She pressed the button going down to the main floor. She was still in shock and braced her body toward the elevator wall with sadness in her face, and tears fell from her eyes. She then walked toward the back door put the alarm on then exit the building. The door closed by itself after she walked out.
She went straight to her car; it was late. She glanced across the street to the coffee shop looking for Ray. She didn’t see him.
She then sat for a while in her car and cried, thinking where her future and the children’s future lie.
Many bad thoughts started flowing in her mind. She was ashamed and embarrassed to see what her husband was doing.
Cindy was thinking about calling the nanny at home to check on her children, but then she realized the phone might wake them up when it rings.
She then drove off from the parking lot and headed straight toward the main road leading to her house. Tears were still flowing from her eyes while driving.
It took her about ten minutes to reach home; the highway was not busy.
She parked her car right on the spot where her husband, Jack, always parked on the driveway. Then she went in her house quietly and kicked her shoes off her feet. The house was quiet; everybody was sleeping. She then walked to the couch and lay down, thinking this is why Jack always comes home late.
The time was running. Jack looked at his watch; the time says 11:30 p.m. He was shock to see the time was so late. The young woman Jack was having an affair with doesn’t care; she just wants a man to occupy her time. She is single and only going after married men who have lots of money.
Jack’s mind runs on his children. The children tried many times to phone him, but his phone was turned off. Lisa quietly turned off his cell phone without Jack’s knowledge while they were together. Jack quietly tossed Lisa away and quickly grabbed his clothes. He rushed to the washroom, got dressed, then quickly hurried Lisa to get dressed.
Jack cleaned up himself nicely, combed his hair, then walked out and turned off the light in the washroom. Lisa was all dressed up waiting for Jack; she looked like she didn’t do anything wrong and was in a good mood.
Jack turned all the lights off in the offices as he walked to the elevator. He pressed the button to the main floor then walked to the entrance back door. Lisa was walking beside him. He asked Lisa to go outside, then he put the alarm on and shut the door behind him. Lisa parked her car in a hidden spot where no one can detect it; even Cindy didn’t see it.
Jack didn’t walk her to her car; he watched her walk to her car, then he crossed the road to the coffee shop to get his car.
He opened the door very quickly and drove off. Ray didn’t have a chance to come outside to see whose car it was.
Jack drove off very fast within minutes he reached the highway. He used a shorter route to get home.
On his way, Jack was thinking it is wrong what he is doing, fooling around with young women. He felt guilty.
On his way home, his mind is thinking what to tell his wife and children. He is tired of making up excuses and lie to his family.
He exited the main road and turned
