About this ebook

Bible Riddles, Poems and Stories: Volume 2 aims to share the Word in three enjoyable ways rolled into one neat package.

It covers a wide variety of topics in a simple, unique style that will maintain the interest of everyone. You will be taken on an exciting adventure that ripples through Bible characters, places, events, joys, and sorrows, from Genesis to Revelation. You will be entertained and challenged as old, familiar stories come alive and seem just as current as todays headlines.

It is not the authors objective to write a tell-all book. Many details have been omitted, particularly in the stories, for the sake of brevity and interest and so that you, the reader, will search the Bible for yourself.

If you are knowledgeable about the scriptures, you will find the riddles a lot of fun. Otherwise, you will learn. There are twenty-six sets of them in this volume and another twenty-six planned for Bible Riddles, Poems and Stories: Volume 2 to be released soon. These are ideal for youth groups, Sabbath school, Sunday school, or even just to spend quality time with your Bible.

Author

Reginald E. Forbes

Reginald E. Forbes is a native of the island of Nassau, in The Bahamas. He is a music teacher by profession who tries to utilize all of his many talents to the glory of God. He enjoys playing the piano at church, dramatizing stories at Sabbath/Sunday School, writing riddles and poems, and most of all, sharing the love of Jesus with others. A graduate of Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, he treasures the twenty-one (21) years he spent teaching in South Andros (another island in The Bahamas), and serving at Kemps Bay Seventh Day Adventist Church in various capacities including Elder and musician. It was there that he began writing Bible Riddles for the weekly youth hour, a tradition he continued at the Berea S.D.A. Church where he presently worships. Presently, Mr. Forbes is employed as a Music Educator at the Bahamas Academy of Seventh Day Adventists, a position he uses not only to share his musical abilities, but also to share his love of Christ and poetry. His passion for both of these has driven him to visit many churches of various denominations, particularly at youth hour. He has voluntarily worked with various youth, civic and government organizations, including The Aids Secretariat and The National Drug Council, places where he feels he has gained invaluable experience in working with others. His goals are to continue to use his talents in sharing Christ with others, and to direct young people back to the Bible, and to God.

    Introduction

    image%20for%20introduction_01.jpg

    In Psalm 119:105, the psalmist declares, Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. God’s Word is shouting out to us, This is the way! Walk in it! (Isaiah 30:21) ….But most of us do not take the time to even see what it says.

    The situation is worse for our young people. There are so many distractions; so many voices calling for their attention that they are confused. They can hardly distinguish between God’s voice and Satan’s. To make matters worse, there are so many adults eager to lead them astray. They must be taught to hide God’s Word in their hearts in order to develop a character that will allow them to live godly in this present world.

    Bible Riddles, Poems And Stories Volume 2 seeks to capture the attention of all and point them back to the Word of God. It provokes thought and draws attention to Bible events from Genesis to Revelation using short, four-line verses that rhyme, just like Volume 1. In this volume, however, the author has made a deliberate effort to focus more on the New Testament, particularly in the Poems and Stories.

    You are encouraged to find the texts in your Bible. Know the context of each riddle instead of just memorizing the answer. Share your knowledge of the scriptures with others, especially young people. Get excited about God’s Word, for it is not just good reading material; ….it is the power of God unto salvation. (Romans 1:16)

    All scriptural references are from the King James Version of the Bible or from the author’s paraphrase, no harm intended.

    Reading the Bible will not save you. Salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ, but firstly you have got to discover who He is. The Bible reveals Him. Bible Riddles, Poems And Stories Volume 2 sets you on an exciting journey through the Scriptures that will conceivably progress to a wonderful relationship with Christ. You will certainly have fun, and spiritually, you will grow.

    Prayer For This Book

    Dear Lord, You have preserved Your Word throughout these many years.

    It’s still the source of great comfort; it calms our many fears.

    It tells just how we came to be - it is from You we came.

    It shows us You are Love and will forever be the same.

    I ask a blessing on this book. May it reveal Your truth.

    Make it so plain it reaches all, especially our youth.

    May they be led to open up the Bible once again

    And find in You, a Savior and an everlasting friend.

    I was the second one.

    I searched hard for a place to land

    Then realized there was none.

    2. I brought food to a prophet who

    Camped out beside a brook.

    That’s where he got his water while

    From me his food he took.

    3. Jesus one time while on this earth,

    Used me in simile,

    Comparing my children to His;

    And He, Himself to me.

    4. Peter was told that he was weak;

    That he’d step out of line;

    That he’d deny Christ three times and

    He used me as a sign.

    5. Every three years King Solomon’s

    Navy came in from sea,

    Bringing him ivory and gold,
