Dr. Joe Osei Kodie is the general overseer of Gates of Heaven Ministries International and the president of Gates of Heaven Theological Institute in New York. Introduction

The Bible is filled with hundreds of great and precious promises from God arranged to meet our every need and situation in this lifetime and the future. As the great Promisor, God is extremely rich in His promises. All the promises of God have a benefit, and they are the major ingredients in the Christian walk with the Lord our God.

God’s promises have a purpose—to enable us to live lives of fruitfulness, new blessings, and transformation without lack. God wants His people to enjoy abundant life with boundless blessings. His heart’s desire is for His people to have better things in life. God wants His people to have their needs met and have a full supply.

As faithful and merciful as He is, He doesn’t want us to go through life poverty stricken and barely able to make ends meet. He wants His people to prosper financially and walk in divine health. It’s His will that you enjoy material and spiritual prosperity in every area of your life.

But many Christians have never experienced or entered into this dimension of prosperity that God intends for them. They haven’t yet experienced God’s best for every area of their lives because of their inability to recognize and activate the blessings they have received through Christ.

Jesus has bought and paid for our prosperity so we might walk in the fullness of it. It’s God’s will for every believer to prosper, and we need to take this message to heart and believe that God wants us to experience supernatural abundance in our lives and therefore live life to the fullest. He takes pleasure in our prosperity and doesn’t want us to doubt that. He has the well-being of His people at heart and wants us to understand and see Him that way.

God’s promises are our inheritance and blessings as Christians. The promises are for those who have accepted His Son as the Lord and Savior. His promises declare His words and intentions of salvation and blessings to His people. They cover everything that pertains to life and godliness now and in the future. They relate to what is good and desirable; they bless and enrich us. Our heavenly Father has provided us with everything we need to make our lives better, fruitful, productive, and comfortable, and we should treasure all His promises.

His glorious and precious promises are His way of blessing and prospering His people on earth, and He has been fulfilling His promises from generation to generation. The omnipotent God has taken incredible measures to meet all our current and future needs.

Knowing God’s promises will give you confidence and boldness to come before His throne for what you’ve inherited through His Son. Life is full of uncertainties, violence, crime, war, terrorism, economic recession, and many other problems that seem to be on the rise and affect the entire global village. To some, life has become unbearable and disappointing; they face setbacks, failure, and sickness.

Our politicians, kings, governments, friends and loved ones have failed and disappointed us with so many unfulfilled promises. The world is in confusion and chaos. There is no peace, joy, comfort, and security in society today. The world’s systems have failed us completely, and we can’t depend on them..

The Promises of God

It’s because of these situations that God calls on us to rely on Him the more. Adverse situations may catch us one way or the other, and we’ll need somebody stronger and powerful to help us in such instances. God can do that. Through His promises, God has given us the most treasured resources—hope, peace, comfort, divine health, and encouragement. His promises are His riches He offers all His children; they show His love, care, and concern for us forever. They are His divine provision for believers.

His promises don’t fail; they all come to pass. They are real, not fantasies. Leaning on these precious and glorious promises of God is to lean on God Himself and consider Him faithful—you see Him as the One Who can help you meet all your needs in life.

The Precious and Glorious Promises of God

T he subject of God’s promises is one of the most important biblical subjects that the entire body of Christ must study. It’s a subject that when well taught, studied, and understood will help boost believers’ trust and confidence in the Lord. When it’s well understood, believers will get to know how God loves them and cares for them. Even when believers are going through difficulties, an understanding of God’s promises will help them be hopeful that God will see them through.

Therefore, all believers in Christ should get in-depth knowledge about these promises of God and learn how to obtain them. It’s a subject that shouldn’t be taken for granted or ignored. When believers fail to acquaint themselves with the knowledge of these important and precious promises of God, they’ll cause themselves great misfortune.

What Are God’s Promises?

It’s good to know God’s promises to us, but first, let’s learn what a promise is. According to the dictionary, a promise is an oral or written agreement to do or not to do something. It further describes a promise as a basis for expectation.

God’s promises are the oracles of the Most High God, and it’s like blessed rain in full showers for the believer. They’re God’s provisions, prophecies, and blessings, and they cover all things pertaining to life and godliness.

God’s promises are His divine inheritance and His provisions and blessings for His chosen people. These promises therefore speak volumes about the things of God that will meet our every need and situation. They are the channels through which He reveals His good intentions and purposes concerning His children. Without God’s promises, believers have no means of knowing what God has in store for them.

God’s promises are the believers’ most treasured resources for hope, divine health, guidance, protection, and encouragement. These promises form the basis of comfort, peace, joy, love, imagination, a glorious future, and many wonderful blessings.

For believers, God’s promises are the keys to prosperous and abundant lives. They encourage believers to work hard as God gives them the strength to succeed. They’re the believers’ strength and provision against troubled times, economic problems, and famines. They help the children of God gain confidence and attain peace, comfort, and assurance in the midst of even their most difficult and darkest moments.

Our God is faithful, and His promises never fail. Therefore, if you and I can put our trust in Him and count on His faithfulness, He will not disappoint us. The reason many people are carrying their burdens along hopelessly and helplessly is that they’ve failed to rely on God’s reliability and faithfulness. If they would just put their faith in God and believe that His promises are meant for them, they would be confident and cast their burdens on Him.

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13 NKJV)

God’s promises are a heavenly weapon to fight and demolish the satanic stronghold of our times. They’re our divine plan for prosperity and victorious Christian living. They are the key to the Promised Land—a land flowing with milk and honey.
