Chapter 1: Meeting One of Your Own Kind

Her hips swayed to the music playing in her head as she walked through the barely lit streets. Of all the cities she had been to New Orleans had to be her favorite. Making her way through the French Quarter, she looked up at the Spanish architecture that was all around her. The gorgeous ironwork that was on the balconies how above her. Places where beads were thrown to women that bared their breasts for them. She remembered a day when she was the one standing on the street, lifting her top, and she laughing.

Her nose inhaled the wonderful smells of food from various restaurants. The food here was unlike any other place — French and Creole cuisine with a mix of the Caribbean. Stopping for a moment, she just savored it all, even though now her taste was more single-minded. She only craved the one thing that would let her survive. Cutting through Jackson Square, several people told her ‘good evening’ as she made her way to St. Peter’s Street. She gave a friendly nod as she made her way to her destination.

The night air was cool as the breeze brushed over her bare arms. A new club had just opened up, and she was anxious to give it a try. New hunting grounds was always a good thing. The thought went through her mind of all the people crammed into a small building that was just off the beaten path. Young people were moving their bodies in ways that some only did
