ROUNDTRIP FOR ONE
The first book I remember truly taking to heart was not , which is one of the works of literature most cited for igniting a love for travel. What did it for me was a children’s atlas, one that wasn’t even mine. A cousin who was too young to read had a collection of them kept behind a glass bookcase. I borrowed it frequently, not so much to read, but to worship. The Great Pyramids of Giza, the River Nile, the Rose City of Petra — all wonders of the world that I had made a mental note to one day see, before I even knew what mental notes were.
