About this ebook

Peter is now an official candidate for the Antinous Society, but that doesn't make life any easier. As he dismisses romantic overtures from Mark, Peter joins an app to find a quick and easy hook up in the public toilets. But the man behind the divider is not just an up and coming politician, he's a direct competitor in the dungeon games, an exclusive event which will determine rankings for the coming trials to join the Antinous Society. Peter faces stiff competition at the dungeon games, forced to fight for a place as an alpha or beta. But will it even matter, as the competition's betas are expected to turn the supposed doms into quivering submissives as Berlin's fabled underground dungeon games begin.

The telephones and televisions in the Deutschland Heute newsroom played a terrible symphony. World leaders had converged on Berlin, and Mark was, for once, working hard. The two of us banged out English translations of German articles at a tremendous rate; updating the newspaper’s English language site with more content than it had seen in months as climate talks dragged into an unprecedented fourth day.

I need the rest of the chancellor’s speech, Tomas yelled over the clap of computer keys. The pudgy Turkish editor was in the bullpen with us, like a captain on the bridge. He’d raised a standing desk to half it’s normal height, but it was high enough for Tomas to direct his orchestra.

It’s coming! Mark shouted back, furiously flicking through a German dictionary. Three different translation websites were open on his computer as he breathed a frustrated sigh.

Bareiß. It’s a name, I whispered. He glanced up; American blue eyes flicking nervously around the room. Mark shrunk under his screens, pulling me down too like we were a couple of spies hiding out in the heart of Berlin. Andreas Bareiß, I said, searching for a note of recognition on Mark’s face He’s the chancellor’s main right-wing rival for the leadership.

Ah, Mark said, his chest deflated like he should have known. He should have, but as Tomas had often said, one gets from this job what one puts into it, like life. I didn’t say that to Mark, though. Want to grab lunch when I’m done with this?

    Sure, I—

Peter? Tomas called out while holding a phone to either ear. Peter?

I poked my head up from the desk. Tomas motioned for me to follow him to his office. I glanced back at Mark; the sad eyes remained. His invitation one more ask in a long line of askings. He wanted to get close, and I kept pushing him away.

I’m buying, Mark pleaded, as if that would make the difference.

    Um…just hang on, okay?

I jogged between the journalists, joining Tomas in the editor’s office as he finished both conversations on the both phones. I stared at the Reichstag building in the grand park far below. A struggling sun piercing through late-summer clouds reflected off the glass dome, the seat of continental power. Like the old Roman senate, decisions made in the Bundestag reverberated across Europe, from Greek bonds to British trade deals. I wondered what old Emperor Hadrian would make of all this.

Tschüss, tschüss, Tomas said, hanging up. I turned to see him lock the office door. Immediately, my mind went to the memory of fucking him over that leather chair in the corner, or when he’d fucked me with his cage, while I fucked his husband Karl, the young man’s hands leaving sweaty prints on this very window. Would Tomas, now cage free, continue to push the boundaries of acceptable behavior in the workplace? Would he prove his dominant credentials and smack my face onto the desk as he unzipped his trousers and stuffed his thick brown dick into my mouth, and then my ass? I certainly hoped so.

Good news, Tomas said. I perked up, my cock gave a light spring.
