My name is Jess a wife, working mother of 2 small children under 5 years old. Confident, stubborn, funny could talk under wet cement. I was working at The Australian Tax Office at the time doing Business Registrations and registering clients for GST Tax. Talking on the phone typing 30 words a minute. Usual office work. Then one day it all changed. Here’s how it went.
I was 36 years old at the time. Working four days a week 40 + hours to make ends meet. Two income family just trying to pay off a mortgage and child care and all of life’s luxuries. I was feeling a bit stressed finding it hard to cope. Things were getting on top of me. But life goes on, you just can’t stop when you have family?
Two weeks before this incident Steven my husband and I were talking about life? I said to him if I’m ever put on life support please pull the plug. I don’t want to live if I’m a vegetable? Jump to 2 weeks later its 29th February 2001 lovely day I guess?
It was a Wednesday I took the day off work because my daughter Haylee was sick and I was going to take her to see the Doctor. I drove my son Ashley to Pre School as I had done each week day and then continued on to the Doctors Surgery. All very normal Dr Loraine checked Haylee’s throat and her breathing, looked in her ears and said she thinks Haylee has a chest infection to go get an x-ray.
I went straight to the Imagining Office booked an x-ray which I
