Anna Hawkes Cabral

Anna Hawkes Cabral is wife to Luís and mum to three beautiful children named Abigail, Priscila and Daniel. She is part of the leadership team of Vida Nova Church in Porto, co-leads a Christian mother’s ministry and has a blog called Unique Mums. As well as writing her blog, she works as a freelance translator.  She was born in the UK to British parents, and at the age of three, she moved with her family to Portugal, where she lives to this day. Reading and writing are two of her favourite pastimes (especially to classical music, and with a cup of tea at hand) and she’s also passionate about mother’s ministry. She loves watching films, walking in beautiful parks and going to cafés and restaurants, if only to get away from the never-ending pile of laundry!

This devotional is divided into three parts, each part corresponding to one week.

Week one focuses on who God is: love, powerful, sovereign, faithful, merciful, self-sufficient, holy.

Week two focuses on our identity as new creations: saved, new, perfect, children of God, heard, gifted, loved.

Week three focuses on the beautiful outcomes of our new identity: security, love for others, life through Him, forgiveness, grace-based parenting, beautiful feet, sanctification.

Who God Is

Week 1

Day 1 – Love

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

—1 John 4:16

God is love. It’s the very essence of who He is. People frequently operate out of fear, insecurity and brokenness. But not God. He operates out of pure love.

In His love, God made the world perfect.
