About this ebook

613 Commandments of the Hebrews are the original Commandments of God that were given to Abraham 2000 years before Christ was born. In this book you will see all 613 Commandments and a bold/italic font followed by responding James version of the holy Bible which was commissioned publication by Emperor Constantine almost 300 years after the death of Christ.
Emperor Constantine commissioned a group of over 300 religious leaders and scholars to write the Bible, it was the first time that a religious manuscript such as the Bible had been written with the intent purposes of distributing it to the general public for them to read. In those days any religious manuscript was thought to be for the priests, pastors, teachers and other religious leaders only. The common petitioner was not allowed to read the whole of material themselves

Commandments of God - Dr. Mickey Gollahon, DD

    Preface

Commandments of God: was an idea of mine for a couple of years now. Thinking of how we came from the days of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob with the 12 Tribes of Israel and the Laws that God invested them with to the times of Moses and the Exodus from Egypt and the 10 Commandments handed down to the Israelites at Mt. Saini.

Being a student of all religions and beliefs, I needed to know more about the Commandments in general and how we ended up with only 10 Commandments that we are taught as children in Sunday School and by our parents.

With this book I hope to enlighten the believers and non-believers alike as to the meaning of the Laws of our beliefs and why they are important to us. I would ask you the reader to go over each of these with an open mind and do your own research, for without knowledge comes foolishness. Please enjoy the book and let me know if you have anything that I can research on this subject for a later release. God Bless!

Resources for this book come from the Torah, book of Mitzvot, the Holy Bible(KJV & NIV), Chabad.org, Bible Gateway, Bible Hub, the Hebrew Bible and personal knowledge from decades of research

    Acknowledgements

I would like to thank my wife Kim for all her help in putting this book together with me. Without the understanding and cheerful smiles of her I would have quite this adventure into knowledge long ago, but she keeps me going and encouraging me to complete the book, not only for myself but for others that would one day read it. Her patients is priceless and I thank her for that.

Also, thanks go out to my friends and followers on my social media groups that encourage me to write the book. Knowing that they would learn a great deal from a book of the Commandments that kept me moving forward with the research daily and the task of getting the facts correct and putting them in a way everyone could understand and follow.

Lastly to all the doctors in rehabilitation staff that I encountered after my stroke on February 9, 2018. I was hospitalized for 2 1/2 weeks of inpatient rehabilitation with a wonderful crew. Part of my debilitation was with people like Katelyn as my occupational therapist, Jackie as my physical therapist, and Randie as my speech therapist. They were all wonderful and encouraged me to continue with my running of the book and everyday life. I continue to do outpatient therapy on a weekly basis to this day. But thanks to these people I have regained most of my mobility and I’m able to finish the book. God bless each and every one of the bottom my heart I say thank you.

    Introduction

This book is intended to research the 613 Commandments of God as they were passed down to Abraham and his sons privately 2000 years before Jesus Christ. These laws were given to the Israelites to follow as the children of God.

You will find each of the Commandments listed in this book and bold and italic followed by a verse chapter and paragraph listed in the holy Bible King James version. I have done this in order to try to help everyone understand the commandment itself how it is written in our holy Bible comprised by the Council of Nicaea during the reign of Emperor Constantine the Great who ordered the commission of the Holy Bible.

The original 613 Commandments of God are broken into several chapters, each chapter is listed in accordance to the content in which the Commandments are regarding. There are several subjects covered in the Commandments and each is broken down into chapters to make it easier for you the reader to understand ahead of time what the Commandments are about. You will notice within the Commandments they are broken down so that you may think that the Commandments are repeating themselves, but in reality, they are simply broken down so that the subjects Israelites could follow them easily. In our version listed in the Holy Bible they are compressed into 10 Commandments. Not many of us know of the original 613 Commandments of God. So I hope by reading this book all Christians will learn of the Commandments.

    God

This chapter deals with the Commandments dealing God. We are going to discuss these commitments and their meaning. The Commandments range from 1 through 10.

To know that God exists (Ex. 20:2; Deut. 5:6)

    Exodus 20:2 (KJV)

I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

    Deuteronomy 5:6 (KJV)

I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

Meaning that God exist because the presence of God affects change. His existence causes change in the Universe such as the formation of the Galaxies, Planets, Stars and all things therein. He causes changes in the formation of life, organisms, and how we live. Because he exist we have everything that we can see, touch, hear, smell, thing we also cannot. Without his existence there would be nothing.

Not to entertain the idea that there is any god but the Eternal (Ex. 20:3)

    Exodus 20:3 (KJV)

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Meaning simply put this means that we should not believe that there is any other God but him the Eternal God that exist. Eternal meaning from the beginning to the end or the Alpha and Omega. Because without his existence there would be nothing. So do not look for another God to worship.

Not to blaspheme (Ex. 22:27, Ex. 22:28), the penalty for which is death (Lev. 24:16)

    Exodus 22:27 (KJV)

For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

    Exodus 22:28 (KJV)

"Do not blaspheme God or curse the ruler of your people.

    Leviticus 24:16 (KJV )

anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD is to be put to death. The entire assembly must stone them. Whether foreigner or native-born, when they blaspheme the Name they are to be put to death.

Meaning showing insult or contempt or lack of reverence for God. Claiming attributes of God or saying he is divine could be called Blaspheme. The plenty for this was death until 1607 in Scotland after the last hanging for blaspheme of Thomas Aikenhead.

To hallow God's name (Lev. 22:32).

    Leviticus 22:32 (KJV)

Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am the LORD which hallow you.

Meaning to make sacred, to consecrate or make Holy. For God’s name is his person and honored by his people. So when we say Hallowed by thy name, we are honoring his Holy name.

Not to profane God's name (Lev . 22:32)

    Leviticus 22:32 (KJV)

Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am the LORD which hallow you.

Meaning to mark with contempt and irreverence for that which is holy. To profane his name also means to sworn a oath or contract or truth using God’s name and not standing behind your word or telling a lie knowingly using his name.

To know that God is One, a complete Unity (Deut. 6:4)

    Deuteronomy 6:4 (KJV)

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

Meaning that his is a complex entity of Oneness, complete in every way of his own, a continuity without deviation or change, A state of complete Harmony and Unified.

    To love God (Deut. 6:5)

    Deuteronomy 6:5 (KJV)

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Meaning to long for him, not for the gifts he gives us every day but for him and his love, kindness, mercy and forgiveness for us. To feel empty without him in our life’s and to seek him (God) out among all others for his love. To know that God is love and we are lost without him. Just knowing God fills us with love, happiness, joy and excitement, this is love.

To fear Him reverently (Deut. 6:13; 10:20)

    Deuteronomy 6:13 (KJV)

Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

    Deuteronomy 10:20 (KJV)

Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.

Meaning to respect him and his Laws, to follow his commandments as he has given you, to love one another and do good in his name. To fear him reminds us that we are sinners and that as our sins were cleansed by Jesus then they are also among us to feel prey to again and that sinners are punished by God. Fear God reverently means to do as his has taught you, obey his Laws and do good by others then the rewards of Heaven will be ours.

Not to put the word of God to the test (Deut. 6:16)

    Deuteronomy 6:16 (KJV)

Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.

Meaning do not put God to any task to prove that he exist or that he is the One God. Never tempt God or dare Gad to show his powers for he is God and will not sur-come to the dare. His powers are all around you, the Earth that you live on, the animals that live here, the air that you breath, the plants that feed you, the stars in the heavens, the Sun that warms you, just look around for without God there would be nothing.

To imitate His good and upright ways (Deut. 28:9)

    Deuteronomy 28:9 (KJV)

The LORD shall establish thee a holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God and walk in his ways.

Meaning mimic his goodness and upright ways. To do as he does, showing love, mercy, kindness, forgiveness and teaching others to do the same. To make his name glorious by imitating his good and upright ways in everything you do, to honor his hallow name with your good deeds and abiding by his uprights ways with forgiveness and mercy towards others.

    The Torah

Here are the next 6 Commandments of God listed at The Torah. We will examine these commandments just as we did the first 10 Commandments listed as God. Not sure how they got their titles, but let’s use them for this books purpose to save confusion. The Commandments number from 11 through 16.

To honor the old and the wise (Lev. 19:32)

    Leviticus 19:32 (KJV)

"You are to rise in the presence of the elderly and honor the old. Fear your God; I am the LORD.

Meaning that we should respect and honor the wisdom and experiences of the elders (Older Generations), for they have knowledge we need and the experience to show us the way to righteousness and God.

To learn Torah and to teach it (Deut. 6:7)

    Deuteronomy 6:7(KJV)

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Meaning that we as children should learn the teachings of the Torah and to pass it along to the younger generations as we gain knowledge. Through the passing on of the Torah is how the Laws were kept alive before writing became the method of use.

To cleave to those who know Him (Deut. 10:20)

    Deuteronomy 10:20(KJV)

Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.

Meaning that we should stick close to or stay close to the people that know God and his teachings. To follow them and their word for they know God and we wish to know him as well.

Not to add to the commandments of the Torah, whether in the Written Law or in its interpretation received by tradition (Deut. 13:1)

    Deuteronomy 13:1(KJV)

If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,

Meaning that we as imperfect as we are cannot add anything to the Laws of God as in the Torah for we are simply followers of the Laws and have no knowledge to write additions to it. We must learn from it and gain knowledge by it, God being perfect and having the knowledge writes the Laws that we are to follow. Nor are we to change it’s interpretation but to follow the teachings of the Disciples for which God has sent us.

Not to take away from the commandments of the Torah (Deut. 13:1)

    Deuteronomy 13:1(KJV)

If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder.

Meaning Here again we cannot add to or take away from the Torah which is God’s Law for us, because we are imperfect and do not have the knowledge of God. Therefor we can’t take away or add anything to his Laws just because we don’t like something.

That every person shall write a scroll of the Torah for himself (Deut. 31:19)

    Deuteronomy 31:19(KJV)

Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.

Meaning while learning the Torah, we must write a copy of it down word by word so that we may retain the information contained therein. Writing something down is the easiest way to remember it and learn from it.

    Signs & Symbols

In this Chapter we will be looking over the 5 Commandments of God that deal with Ceremonies and the articles used in them in accordance to Jewish Laws. These commandments you will not find in the Commandments of Moses or Christ, but have a very significate place in the Jews Traditions. Let’s take a look at these and their meanings. These commandments number from 17 through 21.

To circumcise the male offspring (Gen. 17:12; Lev. 12:3)

    Genesis 17:12 (KJV)

And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.

    Leviticus 12:3(KJV)

And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

Meaning to circumcise the offspring (male child) is a Sign that affixes our covenant with God that passes on from generation to generation. It is also called the Brit Milah by the Hebrews and has been taking place since Abraham’s covenant with God. It also serves as a marking on the body that they are different from the Gentiles and serve God. They also believed that it weakened the body in order to curve their sexual desires.

It is done on the Eighth Day after birth, this is to give the Offspring time to strengthen for the procedure and to allow the Mother to be cleansed from Postpartum (Technically). That the number seven represents the natural order of this time her, exemplified by the seven great heavenly bodies (the sun, moon, and five visible planets), the seven days of the week, and God’s seven emotional attributes—the building blocks with which the world was created. The number eight, on the other hand, represents Godly revelation that is completely beyond this world—the source of the supernatural. The brit is a manifestation of the Jew’s connection to God on a level that is completely beyond this world.

We do not wait beyond the eighth day, because it will be more difficult for the parents to do this to their baby as he grows older. In addition, the older the boy is, the more painful the procedure becomes. And, as explained above, the number eight has special spiritual significance.

To put tzitzit on the corners of clothing (Num. 15:38)

    Numbers 15:38(KJV)

Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue:

Meaning to put fringe on the corners of clothing. Refers to the strings attached to the corners of the tallit, the Jewish prayer shawl. It also refers to the poncho-like mini-tallit that is worn throughout the day, often under a shirt. Here’s how the mini-tallit came to be.

The eight strings and five knots are a physical representation of the Torah's 613 mitzvahs. It works like this: Each letter in the Hebrew alphabet has a corresponding numerical value (gematria). The numerical values of the five letters that comprise the Hebrew word tzitzit add up to 600. Add the eight strings and five knots of each tassel, and the total is 613.

To bind tefillin on the head (Deut. 6:8) Deuteronomy 6:8(KJV)

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

Meaning Tefillin are a pair of black leather boxes containing Hebrew parchment scrolls. A set includes two—one for the head and one for the arm. Each consists of three main components: the scrolls, the box and the strap. The Torah commands Jewish men to bind tefillin onto their head and upper arm every weekday. All male Jews above the age of 13 bar mitzvah, should wear the Tefillin. This is suppose to create a bond between God who commands and man who performs.

To bind tefillin on the arm (Deut. 6:8)

    Deuteronomy 6:8(KJV)

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

Meaning (See the Meaning of Tefillin in Commandment 19 to understand the Tefillin and what it means).

To affix the mezuzah to the doorposts and gates of your house (Deut. 6:9)

    Deuteronomy 6:9(KJV)

And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

Meaning A small parchment scroll upon which the Hebrew words of the Shema are handwritten by a scribe. The Mezuzah are rolled up and affixed to the doorpost of a Jewish home, this is to remind them of their connection to God and their heritage.

    Prayer and Blessings

In this chapter we will be looking at the Commandments of God dealing with prayers and blessings of the Jewish faith and how they are to be performed. There are a total of 4 Commandments for this numbering from 22 through 25.

To pray to God (Ex. 23:25; Deut. 6:13)

    Exodus 23:25(KJV)

And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

    Deuteronomy 6:13(KJV)

Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

Meaning this is another simple commandment meaning that you are to pray to the One God and no one else. Remember the 1st Commandment that you are to believe that he exist, 2nd Commandment that you should not entertain the idea that there is another one, he is the One God, and the 6th Commandment that God is Unity or the One God. So with that this commandment states that you are to pray only to him God.

To read the Shema in the morning and at night (Deut. 6:7)

    Deuteronomy 6:7(KJV)

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Meaning the Shema is one of two prayers that are to be read daily, the oldest of all the commanded prayers to be read.

To recite grace after meals (Deut. 8:10)

    Deuteronomy 8:10(KJV)

When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.

Meaning this one is another one of the simple ones to understand because most Christians recite grace before each meal. This commandment request that you recite grace after every meal instead. In either case you are to recite grace for the meals that you eat.

Not to lay down a stone for worship (Lev. 26:1)

    Leviticus 26:1(KJV)

Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.

Meaning this commandment means that you are not to place idols, shaped stones, carved images or anything else in your land to worship. God demands that you worship only him and not anything or anyone else.

Once again here the commandment is going back and reminding you of the 1st, 2nd, 6th, and adding to that list is the 22nd Commandment. But all together these 4 commandments make up the Prayer and Blessings of the Jewish people.

    Love and Brotherhood

In this chapter we will be talking about the 14 Commandments covering Love and Brotherhood. We will be looking at commandments dealing with love, caring for others, hatred, lying, etc.. So let’s take a look at these commandments
