    You know the most surprising thing about raising a baby dragon? I complained to my brother and Alpha, Asher. As if he hadn’t heard me complain about this same thing a hundred times before. That she started shifting shortly after birth. Something my oh-so-wonderful mate—note the sarcasm—didn’t think to tell me because it was ‘common knowledge.’

    I threw the shirt I was folding at his head. Are you going to just sit there drinking beer, or are you going to help me fold clothes?

    Just sit here, he said, but he leaned forward and tugged the basket of towels closer to him and got to work. Neither of us were unused to household chores, having spent years living the bachelor life together after Mom died. And there wasn’t any kind of bullshit about omega’s work in our families. Everyone was equal. Everyone chipped in.

    So what did Zara do this time? Asher asked.

    I blew out a sigh. She tossed the Xbox into the wall while I was in the middle of a shootout because I wasn’t paying attention to her.

    Asher’s glance darted to the blanket thumbtacked to the wall, hiding the hole my darling daughter had created. Ah. Guess you’re going to have to give in and learn how to play PS4 over at Ryan and Phoenix’s.

    Shut your mouth, I snapped. You don’t jump systems. It’s like, a religion.

    But… I might have to put my Xbox days on hold for a few years.

    Like any shifter, I expected I wouldn’t have to worry about teaching my daughter the intricacies of shifter etiquette until she hit her preteen years, at the earliest. I thought we’d be able to communicate, or at
