Please Note: The information in this book is strictly for educational and informational purposes. Please consult with your doctor, or healthcare provider, if you seek to use cannabis to treat a medical or psychological condition. Check with your city, state and federal laws regarding possession, consumption, and cultivation of marijuana.

Warning: Ingesting cannabis edibles produces a different type of high than smoking does. The high you achieve from an edible, after ingestion, generally takes from forty minutes to an hour to reach full effect. It is highly recommended that you start with extremely small doses of these edibles to test their potency. The writer/publisher is not responsible for any adverse reactions, effects, or consequences resulting from the use of any recipes, or suggestions, herein or procedures undertaken hereafter.

Many things can affect how a recipe turns out: oven temperatures, calibrations of ovens, humidity, the temperature in your kitchen, altitude, climate, different appliances, substitutions, different food sources/consistencies, etc... The recipes in this book have been tested and retested. If a recipe did not turn out for you, I hope you try it again.

    The Basics

    Introduction

Marijuana has been a part of my life since I was a teenager. I was one of the cool kids in the 1970’s. There were the straight kids who didn’t do drugs and then there was us. The hippies, artists, creatives and marijuana users who were considered cool.

Of course, back in the 70’s pot was illegal. As I write this, pot is on its way to being legalized and for those of us who use it medically, it’s about time.

I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease several years ago. I have also suffered from migraines for most of my life and marijuana helps both of those conditions immensely. After trying many different commercially available edibles, I decided to try and make my own. What an eye opener that was. Once I made my first batch of edibles, I never went back. And that’s why this book now exists. I want to share the secret to gourmet edibles with you, so you never have to buy them again.

All the recipes in this book call for either marijuana infused butter or infused coconut oil. You can make all the recipes using butter or coconut oil without the pot if you like and the recipes will turn out just as fabulous.

I will teach you how to make your butter and oil using already vaped pot. The most economical way to use is to grow your own, and then for harm reduction instead of smoking, vaping is the gold standard. When you vape pot, not all the THC is utilized. So saving your already vaped pot, also known as AVP, and using it to make edibles is the most economical way to get the most out of your stash.

When I thought edibles in the past, I thought brownies. And I seem to remember just crumbling the pot into the batter. We have come a long way since then. The recipes in this book contain pies, cakes, cookies, muffins, scones, tassies, breads, rolls and more. The instructions make even the harder things easy to make.

You will find all the information you need to know about dosing, creating and storing your gourmet homemade edibles.

    Bon Appétit!

    A Word About Dosing

There is a saying in the edible world that always rings true and it’s this, You can always eat more, but you can’t eat less.

What that means is clear to anyone who has ever accidentally ingested too much edible marijuana. It’s not a pleasant feeling at all. It won’t kill you, or anything, but it can feel like you are climbing the walls, can’t sit still, feel extremely anxious and uncomfortable. Once you get to that point there is nothing to do but wait until it passes, and it will. Always remember that it will.

These recipes, if made with full pot butter or oil, are made to be a full dose with just a few bites. Only needing a few bites is best for those of us who use pot medicinally and are watching our weight. If you work it right you can ingest a completely delicious full dose and it will only cost you a few bites and minimal calories.

If you don’t have a high tolerance and would rather have a whole muffin, piece of pie or brownie, then you will want to cut the pot infused butter/oil in half or even in thirds in each of the recipes. You won’t taste the pot at all if you do it this way and your chance of overdosing goes way down.

    Some Things You Will Need

Baking with cannabis isn’t hard but there are a few things you will need to make it work. The most important is a good crock pot or slow cooker. To make the best pot butter, or coconut oil, you need to be able to cook it on a very low temperature for a long time. I bought a pretty good one and it wasn’t expensive, so I highly recommend you get a good one, as you will use it a lot.

The next item you will need to make many of these recipes is a food processor. I didn’t have one when I started writing this book and was trying to do everything by hand. It’s not a good idea. It’s possible, but it’s not worth it. The food processor will make everything so much easier. If you don’t already have one, it’s a good investment.

A good electric mixer is essential. I have a hand-held mixer and it works just fine. I love the fancy stand mixers that do it all for you, but they are expensive, and you can get by without that.

You will need a good mesh strainer and cheesecloth. Cheesecloth can be found in the market and in specialty cooking stores. You will be using it to line your mesh strainer when straining your finished pot butter or oil.

Although you can get by without one, a double boiler is handy to have. Some of the recipes require it and although you can do a makeshift one with a large saucepan and a smaller one, it’s hard to make that work.

That’s basically all you need to get started. As you go, some of the recipes require different size pans and so you will need those as well.

I hope you enjoy your adventures in baking with cannabis.

    Coconut Pot Oil

This is easy to make and store. Coconut oil is solid at room temperature and has a higher smoke point than butter and so it’s easier to use than butter for infusions.

You can also use it in recipes in place of butter or other oils.

    Ingredients

1 cup (209 grams) coconut oil

1 cup ground cannabis flower decarboxylated. (To decarboxylate, preheat the oven to 245 degrees. Line a small pan with parchment paper and place your unground pot on top. Bake at 245 degrees for about 30 minutes. It will smell! Once baked, grind it to medium fine texture. You can
