I'll Always Remember

We were like the smoothest of silk scarves 

Red Rose's on a lover’s day 

A fiery glow of sunrise over the ocean 

And I'll always remember it as it was. 

Each time I touch the comfort of softness 

Each time I see an explosion of love-infused red 

And every time I look to the summer sky at 7am. 

I'll always remember it as it was my love. 

I'll always remember how understanding needs a gentle, compassionate hand, 

In the exquisiteness of what was too immense to last, 

And, too good to be true to stay

My Turn

I experienced what it was like to feel happy,

To feel like I had won a beautiful prize

Like the God's had spoken and it was finally my turn.

Everything I wanted wrapped up in the shape of another person.

Then reality checked in and happiness broke away, 

It was never mine.

Happiness cannot be found in another person no matter how much you love them.

You are your happiness, it comes from you.

Create what you truly want within yourself first.

Then it will never leave you.

It will always be, because it is you.

You are your happiness.

You Had

You had the most distinctive, extraordinary heart loving you, 

And you let her go, 

Tell me how it feels, 

Tell me what it's like to cut a diamond shaped piece out of your heart,

Because she would have shone for you, 

She was your diamond in the dark 

Pedestal

And maybe that was what we needed,

To see each other as just human, 

Beautifully human,

Inextricably coloured with faults, flaws, 

And all this old pain so deeply stored, 

We tumbled down the pedestal 

We'd placed one another so high upon,

Believing we were invincible,

And that the other could do no wrong,

We fell,

But the same attraction remains,

Hearts still beat for the love they hold,

It's just now we can see each other 

As just a humble human to behold,

At the bottom of the pedestal 

Love can still reach high,

Because now we clearly see each other 

And admire with forgiving hearts and truthful eyes

Illusion

I became splintered through your eyes,

But to your heart I was only ever human,

So tragically bruised,

So stunningly brave,

Yet so perplexed in the wrap of this mortal swathe, 

My love, your heart recognised me long before your eyes did,

As a kindred heart,

With a fighters flame,

And human,

Wonderfully human,

For your heart could see what the eyes cannot,

In deep, beyond the softened walls of my heart,

And everything that makes me exquisite,

A perfectly imperfect vision of human art

Different

Everything feels different,

The sky seems strained for brightness,

The moon has lost its light,

Stars have fallen and faded,

Into the pure blackness of the night,

The spring blooms don't seem so happy,

And birds have misplaced their song,

Everything that once felt so glorious,

Feels like it's missing something strong,

It all feels different,

Nothing tastes the same,

Food can't satiate my hunger,

When all I think of is your name,

You're sitting in my mind,

Racing through my heart,

Your place is in my soul,

Even when we're torn apart,

It all feels different,

Maybe it will never be the same again,

And I cannot hold hope too long,

But for now she is my friend, 

I'll look to the skies,

And wish for the colour to return,

You, my love, I will forever cherish 

And for my spirit, will infinitely yearn

No Longer

My heart still cradles you, 

Just as far as my mind will carry you, 

To the moon and back, 

Past a vortex of silvery stars, 

That's where I'll keep you, 

For you are no longer in my arms 

A Song I'll Never Hear

Save your tears, 

I take the blame, 

I took your love, 

And never gave the same

I stole your heart,

Angel,

Made a home inside your mind, 

Only to leave you broken,

With so much hurt inside 

I can only say I'm sorry, 

A million times, 

But it will never change the past, 

We need to leave it behind

I'm sorry, so sorry

For all the tears you cried 

Save your tears, 

Angel,

We'll meet again someday, 

Across time and space, 

It's your soul I'll trace, 

My heart still bleeds for you,

For a love I can’t replace

Gifted

You covered my hurt with kisses,

Took me dancing through the rain,

You shined moonlight through my window,

And painted love where sadness lay

You held my hand with strength,

Like you never wanted to let go, 

You showed me warmth and new life,

Made relics and memories turn cold

You lavished me with laughter,

Understood all my jokes and quirks, 

You motivated me to take chances 

Where all my mistakes and fears once lurked 

You, were that someone,

A person that changed me for good,

You gifted me with something I needed,

In a way that no other could

It's the unexpected breakup,

Like a grenade straight to your heart,

It's the cold shoulder you feared,

Hitting you as day turns to dark,
