The Close of Summer
B
ecause of the pandemic, it was announced there would be no physical activity for students this coming school year. They will complete their academic studies online and interact with other students in this same manner.
As P. Ann reads over her new syllabus for her upcoming classes, she sighs and thinks of how quickly summer had come and gone. She puts her new syllabus away feeling frustrated because she looked forward to physically starting Junior High School. She thought it would be great for meeting new friends and going on class trips.
Excited about her new level up to 6th grade she pulls out her syllabus for one last glimpse and notices that she has a paper due within her first two weeks of school. Wow, she thought, I have to write a paper about my time spent practicing social distancing during the summer! She then realized there is not much time left but she does know that she wants to make a first impression on her new teacher to create an A-plus paper.
It is a beautiful warm night with a slight breeze flowing through P. Ann’s open window. As she lays across her bed, staring up at her ceiling, the blinking light from her laptop catches her attention from the corner of her eye. P. Ann says, It’s too hot for tea.
The company sells a variety of teas and you have the option of making it hot or cold.
replies Bly.
P. Ann asks: Do you wanna play an online game?
I’m tired of online games. I want to go to the beach, on a mini-vacation, a long walk outside, rollerblading, the nail salon, or walk my dog for more than two blocks without us having to wear face masks.
reply’s Bly.
Are you serious, your dog wears a face mask?
asks, P.Ann.
Yep, even the dog, we got it from the downtown doggie shop. My parents are determined that no one is getting sick in our home, plus they want to make sure we both are safe.
Bly says, "Speaking of doing something other
