About this ebook

Psalm 37:8 (NKJV) says, "Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret-it only causes harm."

It's obvious that we live in a time that seems to have gone plain crazy! With all the chaos and civil unrest, it would be very easy to fret or be worried about finances, family, and the future with all this uncertainty. In Psalms 37, th

    Introduction

We are going to look at Psalm 37 verses 1 through 8 and look at each verse individually to find out how it could be very relevant in today’s world. We will find out that the Psalms in the Old Testament are just as vital for today as it was when written. The Word will change the reader as long as the reader has a heart that is willing to change according to what the Word of God says. We will find that the Word still reads us and will show us areas that need to be addressed, and the Word will always give sound advice.

My wife and I went through a couple of seasons where these verses of scripture really stood out to us both. The Lord gave them to me on July 25th of 2020, and it was right after leaving my last secular job as a line haul driver, and my last day was the 24th of July. It wasn’t long after that the Lord impressed our hearts to sell our home, which we did, and then began our journey of trusting, delighting, committing, resting, and not fretting. The fretting was not the part we had to work on immediately. This was not an easy journey, and it took us continually in the Word of God to keep our focus straight on what He was doing and where He was leading. We will discuss this in more detail a little later in the book.

I pray that you will learn that God has never had a plan to hurt you but is always looking out for your best interest and that Jesus paid the ultimate price. The price that you will never have to pay if you truly believe in Him and accept His sacrifice for you. He loves you more than words will ever be able to express and has a plan for your life that you cannot imagine. The Lord wants us to totally rely on Him, and fellowship with Him daily through prayer, and learn more about Him from His written Word. I pray that each person is blessed when they read this book. My one desire is to glorify the King of kings and Lord of lords with what I write. It’s not about me, but about my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. May He always be praised!

    CHAPTER 1

    Fret Not

Let’s start with the definition of the word fret. It means to be constantly or visibly worried or anxious, to be dismayed, or to break down the courage completely. So, right off the bat, we can see that the word fret could also be used as fear. Jesus told us 365 times in His Word to fear not, yet we see in the definition of the word fret that fear must be involved. Why do we get anxious? Why are we worried? How can you break down the courage of someone unless fear is involved? I’ll start with Psalm 37 verse 1 in the NKJV. Look at the first three words of verse 1 in the NKJV. What does it start with? Do not fret. So, right off the bat, we can see that if we are fretting for any reason, that we just went against what the Word says. It says, do not fret. Let’s go back to one of the questions I asked earlier. Why do we get anxious?

In this world we live in today, we can see why it would be very easy to be anxious. Riots, groups of people that will attack you if you say anything different than what they want to hear. That would also be known as intolerance, but it could still cause you to be anxious. We are told in Philippians 4, in the first four words of verse 6 in the NKJV, Be anxious for nothing. Now, if the Word says be anxious for nothing, don’t you think it would be able to explain to you why? Because Jesus has taken care of everything, and we just need to trust Him with everything. Remember 1 Peter 5 verses 6 and 7 says, Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. The last part of verse 6 states how you trust Him with everything; by casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Jesus cares so much for you that He wants all your burdens cast upon Him. Why? Because He can handle them a whole lot better
