INTRODUCTION

Key Verse: Luke 8:10; Matthew 16:19

He said, The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God

has been given to you.’"

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven.

Over 40 years ago, my sister, Odessa, gave me my first Bible when I went to college and in it, she wrote, Here are the keys to His riches and glory. That was a moment that had a great impact on my life.

Jesus said, ‘Listen, I am giving you the secrets of the kingdom.’ The disciples pulled away from the masses, went to a secret place, and Jesus gave them secrets of the kingdom. Knowledge of the keys leads to understanding. When you know the principle behind the keys to the kingdom you can understand how the kingdom functions.

A key gives authority to you. If you possess a key to a place, then you have authority in that place. The keys of the kingdom give you authority not only on earth, but in heavenly places.

A key gives you access. You have instant access to everything that key opens. The secret is to know what the key opens. These keys give you access to the promises of God and the good gifts He has for you.

A key represents a breakthrough. There is a distinction between kingdom people and regular church folks. You don’t want to be regular church folk. You want to live kingdom, so you need a key to your breakthrough to kingdom living. When you use these keys, your life changes.

A key opens liberty and deliverance. You need freedom to fulfill the call of God on your life. To achieve that liberty, you need deliverance. The keys of the Kingdom open the way for your freedom.

My prayer is that you will find what I have found in the pages of the Bible. The Lord has shown me many keys to His love, His forgiveness and His care for me. There are keys to salvation, faith, trust and hope. He has shown me keys to purpose, obedience, victory and wisdom. Within these pages are keys the Holy Spirit has illumined. Many lives have changed when people use these keys. I want you to know these keys and how to use them.

The Key: When you receive Christ as your Savior, He will put His Spirit in you. Because His Spirit is in you, everything in heaven is accessible. He gave you the keys. You can live heaven right here on earth.

KEY OF SALVATION

KEYS OF THE KINGDOM

Key Verse: Matthew 16:18-19 NIV

And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Jesus gives us the keys of the kingdom not keys to the kingdom. As citizens of the kingdom, we do not need keys to get into the kingdom. As a child of the king, we already have that access. The keys are not to get into the kingdom, but they are keys to unlock the power of the kingdom. The keys make the kingdom work for us in our lives on earth. Citizenship is a prerequisite to receiving the keys. They are not given to just anyone, only citizens of the kingdom.

All people on earth are God’s creation, but not all are God’s children. You become a child when you receive King Jesus Christ as Savior.

You will have access to a power that amazes those who are not in the kingdom. Kingdom living is a different lifestyle. People will ask you how you live like you do because your life looks so different from their own. Kingdom citizens go a different way than what the world teaches. God has a different standard. You tap into the resources of heaven and the world cannot explain how you got what you have. The key to accessing all keys is knowledge. Knowing what the keys are for and the wisdom on how to use them.

The Key: As kingdom citizens you are supposed to be operating at a level that blows the minds of the people on earth. Your kingdom lifestyle will shake them so much they will begin to question your source and that is what living a kingdom life is all about. Kingdom living provides opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

PRAYER: Lord, I want to live as a citizen of the Kingdom. I want to live a life that amazes the people who know me and even the people who don’t. Thank you for keys to unlock kingdom power.

REVELATION OF THE MESSIAH

Key Verse: Matthew 16:16-17 NKJV

Simon Peter answered, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus answered and said to him, Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you by man, but by My Father who is in heaven."

I can relate to Peter. He had a bit of a temper. He was somewhat impulsive. We see him telling a lie. He got frustrated and cussed. I know Peter was tempted in his life. I know because I saw him fall. Then I saw him pick himself back up and keep moving. So I can relate to Peter because I too have had the same temptations.

Then, Peter had a revelation. Jesus was the Messiah. Peter had this moment of spirituality. He had a revelation of Christ. Jesus responds to Peter’s revelation by using Peter’s whole name. Remember when your momma called you by your full name? She would use your first name, your middle name, your last name, and any other name she could think of to add to it. When momma did that, she immediately got your attention. Everything else faded while you listened to momma. Jesus wanted Peter’s full attention. He wanted Peter to understand that he had an encounter with heaven. An encounter with heaven brings revelation. Peter did not come by this knowledge on his understanding. He had to have a supernatural revelation.

Have you had this revelation? Do you know that you know that you know that Jesus is the Messiah? Has the Lord spoken to you with your full name to get your attention? Peter had issues just like you and I have issues, but he knew his Savior. If you don’t know Jesus as your Messiah, ask Him to show you.

The Key: If Peter can get a revelation of Christ and have his whole life change, so can you. If Peter can speak out the truth about Christ, so can you.

PRAYER: Lord, I desire a supernatural revelation of who You are. Open the eyes of my understanding. I open my heart to You. You are the Son of the living God. You are the Christ, the Messiah. Thank you for Your saving grace.

COMFORTABLE IN MY MESS

Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 16:13 NIV

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.

When I was a student, there were two churches available on campus. I had been going to one of the churches. I was not saved. I did not know Jesus. I was going to church. I was partying and the church said it was ok. I was comfortable. I had a woman on the side and the church said it was ok. I was thinking, This is nice! I was comfortable with the idea that I could stay in my mess and love God at the same time. About this time, my sister gave me a book that talked about the keys to the riches of life. I realized I might be missing something.

Then I went to the other church. The group of men running this church were wearing long leather coats, big hats and driving Cadillacs. I thought they were pimps, players, and pushers that wanted my money. However, I ran into an obstacle. Those hustlers preached the word! For the first time I thought that this God stuff is serious! I realized somebody was lying because these two churches did not agree. I could stay in my mess and be comfortable at the one church. They say I’m cool. The other choice was to go to the church that was run by a group of leather-coat-wearing Jesus pushers. I had to make a decision. I was confused, so I called my sister for advice. Her wisdom said, Stay with the Word. That is when real salvation began. I made a decision to leave my comfort zone, follow the true word, and begin the process of growing in Christ.

What decisions are standing before you? Are you seeing growth in your life? Are you comfortable in your mess? If I had stayed with the church that was allowing me to live in my mess, my life would not be the same as it is today. I chose to embrace the process and grow even though it was not always comfortable.

The Key: You have to get serious about the process of growing in Christ. Even when it makes you uncomfortable, if you stay in the Word long enough you will see the

salvation of the Lord.

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for increasing my growth. Help me make decisions that keep me in the process of growing in You no matter how uncomfortable that might make me feel. Thank you that blessing and peace will follow my decision to follow You.

SAVING FAITH

Key Verse: 2 Timothy 1:12 NASB

For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.

Saving faith is based on forgiveness of sin and entry into heaven. This faith gets you to heaven. Saving faith involves a personal dependency on God. Saving faith requires a dependency on the finished work of Christ, on his sacrifice. With saving faith, you can develop a personal attachment to Christ which is best thought of as a combination of two things:

Reliance on Christ

Commitment to Christ

Saving faith involves a personal commitment of one’s life to follow Christ in obedience to His commands.

Some people struggle because they stop at another level of faith, a measure of faith. This level of faith, a measure of faith, simply provides the faith to believe there is only one God. Even the demons have this level of faith. People may put on a façade and pretend they have saving faith, but are actually stuck in a measure of faith. This creates a struggle and many times this is where people stay, stuck in the simplest faith, barely believing there is a God. If you live your life in the basic measure of faith, then nearly every day is a struggle. I want the real deal for me and you.

To move to the level of saving faith, you give your life to Christ. You depend on His salvation. Your life relies on Christ to take care of you. You make your decisions dependent on your commitment to Christ. Saving faith gets you into heaven. It is a completely different mentality than a measure of faith. You gain confidence that God is in control and He will take care of you until the day you leave this planet and enter into heaven.

The Key: Step up into saving faith. Trust God to watch over your life. Commit your life to Him and you will live forever in His eternal love.

PRAYER: Thank you Lord, for saving faith. I choose today to trust your salvation. I know that you watch over me and care for me. I give my life to you. I rely on you to guide my life. I commit each day to you. Thank you for your love.

ENGRAFTED

Key Verse: Romans 11:24a NIV

… if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree…

There was an olive tree wild and waving free in the wind. There was another olive tree refined and cultivated standing strong in an olive grove. The wild tree would bend and dance freely before the sun, but had very little fruit. The cultivated tree was full and beautiful with branches that hung heavy with the promise of a wealthy harvest. As the wild tree played, the storms began to rage. The tree of promise stood safe in the grove, while the wild tree struggled to stand. Soon branches began to break and fall to the ground.

The master saw the brokenness of the wild tree. He gently picked up the branches that lay dying. He took them home to the olive grove and carefully grafted the dying branches onto the strong tree. The branches of the wild olive tree soon began to rejoice in the new life they had been given. As they grew and flourished on the cultivated tree, they were soon filled with the wealth of promise, hanging full and rich with the wealth of harvest.

Long ago, the Lord gave a promise to Abraham. Genesis 12:2-3 states this promise. "And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing: and I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you: and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed." That promise continues to grow and flourish. Its roots go down deep and its branches stretch wide.

When Christ came, He made the way for wild, broken branches like you and me to be engrafted into the promise of Abraham. This promise allows you to flourish as you are empowered by the strength of this new life.

The Key: When you accept Jesus as your Savior, you are engrafted into the promise of Abraham. It is within this promise that you grow, flourish, and glean the wealth of the promise.

PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for making a way for me to be engrafted into Your promise. I choose to give up my wild ways and stand strong in your Word that I might be rooted and grounded in You and fulfill the promise of God in my life.

TAKING BACK KINGDOM AUTHORITY

Key Verse: Matthew 3:2 NASB

Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

When I received Jesus, I was amazed at my new thinking. I had been blinded. I had to repent of the way I was thinking. Things were the opposite of what the thinking I had relied on. What I thought was up is down in the kingdom. You think to get more money you have to keep your money, but God says that if you want more then give what you have. That is the kingdom, but I was used to greed not giving. This is why we have to repent. We need a new mindset for the kingdom. We are to live in the authority of the kingdom. Walking in kingdom authority takes training.

When Adam disobeyed God’s command in the Garden of Eden and ate of the forbidden fruit, all of mankind’s relationship with God was broken. The separation destroyed man’s kingdom authority. The cross is the sole hope and means for full reinstatement of the relationship with God and
