    INTRODUCTION

Imagine the ecstatic look on your face when you rip open the brown cardboard box which has just arrived by courier. You dive into a sea of little polystyrene balls to locate the paperback with the shiny, colourful cover, the bold text, the beautiful imagery. Then, you flip it over to see your own face smiling back at you.

    Your book.

The one you spent months writing, poring over every word. Sharing your knowledge and wisdom in the hope that one day, someone will read it and their life will be forever changed.

You did it. You actually did it. You talked about it for months, or even years, and then you made it happen.

It’s the greatest feeling you’ll ever have.

If you’ve been excited by the dream of becoming a published author, you’re right to be. Writing and publishing a quality book and seeing it in print is the best feeling in the world. It’s different from graduation or falling in love or getting married or parenthood: it’s something you achieve on your own (mostly). If you do it right, it’s hundreds of hours of sitting at a computer, typing, dreaming, creating, exposing yourself in the unique way that only print can achieve.

I’ve heard that 80% of people want to write a book. But only five percent of those people will start the book and only two percent of those people will finish it.

So why is it that so many people don’t actually finish their book, or even start it in the first place? Especially for a focused, ambitious, and normally productive business owner – how does this one project suddenly fall by the wayside? More importantly, how can you ensure that you don’t fall into these traps?

There are so many reasons people never complete their books, but of the hundreds of people I’ve spoken to, it most often boils down to not allocating time, not knowing where to start, or not having a clear purpose in their writing.

In the search for help in the daunting process of writing a book, many people start looking for answers online. The internet is a wonderful place where you can find a plethora of information on any topic you can imagine. And herein lays the issue: it’s simply overwhelming.

There are thousands of web results that come up for every search term, each giving you little bits of the puzzle. Each result entails countless hours of poring over the information, working out which steps will take you where you want to go. Each answer raises more questions, more links to click, more information to slog through instead of spending your time where it counts.

You want a quality book with your name on the cover. A book you can use to open doors of opportunity, one you can hold up to an audience as you speak about a topic you’re passionate about. A book which might get you noticed by media and even land you that big client, or even hundreds of clients.

    I can help.

As a book coach, I work with all kinds of coaches, speakers, and entrepreneurs who want to be recognised as thought leaders. I cut through the noise and break it down to bite size chunks so that my clients know exactly what to do, and when. I walk my clients through every step of the process so that they can focus on the important part: committing their thoughts and ideas to paper. I offer instruction, advice, and support until that book is printed and they are opening a box full of shiny paperbacks with a silly grin on their face, saying, I wrote this!

So, you want to write a book too?

You want to belong to the 2% that actually don’t, and not the 80% that say they do, but never will?
