Diary of a Minecraft Dork Steve Book 2 - MC Steve

    Monday Evening– Steve’s Bedroom

Today at school my teacher, Mr. Notch, said the words that no one ever wants to hear. The words every student lies awake at night thinking about, worried that the next day will be the day, the awful day, when the teacher utters these words. Today, for me and the rest of my class, was that day. You know the words I am talking about:

    POP QUIZ!

That’s right! Today Mr. Notch was cruel enough to give us a test without even warning us about it! The only person who seemed happy about it was my friend Alex (which makes sense because she pretty much knows everything). She gave a massive grin when she heard the words (she is weird like that) and said, Oh yes! I’m going to ace this test.

Now, you would have thought that if Alex was truly my friend, she would let me copy from her, right? Yeah, I thought so, too, but apparently that’s cheating and not fair on other people. I tried to tell Alex that she was not being fair to me, but she just stuck out her tongue and covered up her sheet so I couldn’t see it.

The pop quiz (which from now on I shall call THE QUIZ OF DEATH) had questions like this:

How many blocks of wooden planks does it take to craft a crafting table?

    a.1   b.4    c.100   d. Apple

If I wanted emeralds, where would I look?

a.In mountains   b.In the sea   c.In my sock drawer    d. Apple

How many wooden sticks do you need to craft a ladder?

    a.6    b.5    c.-18    d. Apple

It went on like that for a hundred questions! I mean, how am I supposed to know how to make a ladder? How will that be useful in the real world? So I just hoped for the best and picked random numbers for each of the answers. I mean, I’ve got to get a few questions right that way, don’t I?

Alex, however, was writing furiously and finished before everyone else. She proudly walked up to the front of the classroom and handed her paper to Mr. Notch, who told her once he’d had a look at it that she’d done very, very well. Not just very well. Very, very well. I don’t think he’s even told me once that I did well.

Now comes the exciting bit, though: Once we had finished THEQUIZ OF DEATH, Mr. Notch collected the rest of the papers, stood at the front of the classroom, and said, Well done, everyone. Now that you’ve finished the quiz, I can tell you the exciting news.

At first I was worried. It wasn’t another pop quiz, was it? I mean, I know teachers are cruel, but none of them are that cruel. Are they?

    Luckily I was way off.

Mr. Notch grinned and announced, I am proud to say that HARRY JENKINS is making a visit to our school tomorrow.

The classroom exploded into excited chatter. All the girls started screaming excitedly, and even I couldn’t stop myself from bouncing up and down. I mean, this was Harry Jenkins! Harry the Hero Jenkins! That man is a legend! Mom and I collected all of his books, including:

Harry the Hero and the Dark Mountain

Harry the Hero and the Really Scary Forest Beast of Fear

Harry the Hero and Harry the Zero, His Evil Twin from an Alternate Dimension of Evil

Harry had been on so many adventures, and he was really famous. I mean, there was probably no one braver or
