Preface
As artists, whether we’re painters, actors, actresses, musicians. Sports figures, or what have you, we all strive to leave a better piece of ourselves once we transition to a higher place.
I trust that my work accomplishes this for my life. In my other works on the Doppelgängers, my inspiration and motivation for this topic are multifaceted.
We are complexed spiritual beings, who should be experiencing life on a higher level, but far too often we spend too much time in the natural and experience the natural instead of the supernatural.
Nothing can be more complexed, more difficult to grasp than the universe which supports us and our true selves.
In an article published by Space.com, 15-year NASA Astronaut Leroy Chiao stated…
It is man’s arrogance to believe that we are the only living beings in the Cosmos.
Consider the laws which govern everything in and around us including our galaxy…
For instance, we see our closest star to The Solar System Proxima Centauri as it was 4.3 years ago because it takes it’s light that long to reach us and if we look at a star 60,000 light-years away it’s light takes 60,000 years to reach us meaning there is more than enough time for it to die but we will still see it for eons.
The theory that there are multi-universes or sister universes is a very old and very real subject, and the notion that a person could enter or pass through rips or tears in one or multiple dimensions or realities is a probability and also a possibility.
With this book series, I am attempting to ask and answer the questions, or at least open the discussion, as well as entertain.
Would we be aware of their existence if we transition from one reality to another?
Do we remain ourselves, or do we take on a completely different appearance and identity? According to NamUs, for example in the year 2012 in the US alone, 661,000 people were reported missing, and of that number 659,000 were accounted for either through deaths or simply by returning, leaving roughly 2000 people missing or unaccounted for.
Imagine that. Where did they go? Could they have entered into a tear or rip in one of these parallel universes, did anyone see them?
As I began writing this version of The Doppelgängers, I wanted to explore this using both fact and fiction, and so I decided to call it "The Nothingness" instead of a sister or a parallel universe.
So, do I believe in this notion of universes parallel to ours? I believe that there is more surrounding us than we can think or even imagine.
I feel, that for everyone, that answer and many other wonders we’ll yet know and discover in due time.
The Nothingness
Sister Mary Jacalyn has returned to Columbus, Bellefontaine and Port Clinton, Ohio, to exact her torture and terror on its residents. She says that she intends to send many into The Nothingness for all time.
The dictionary defines ‘The Nothingness’ as the quality of nonexistence, an utter void of a fixed reality, which is what she has planned for the residents of Columbus, Bellefontaine and Port Clinton Ohio.
Why she has chosen some and not all… is not so big a mystery. In early 1800 Sister Mary Jacalyn along with the local Monsignor was tried convicted and put to death for the murders of fifty-six children. Sister Mary Jacalyn swore to avenge herself on the Magistrate, executioner and the citizens of the German Village area and the elected officials.
Certainly though, many homes, many families are going to be the subject of Sister Mary Jacalyn’s devious plan. One by one, families, hospitals, churches, prisons, and various segments of government will all be reporting people missing.
Sister Mary Jacalyn is back in Ohio and the year is 2016, and she has focused her vengeance on the descendants of those she holds responsible for her death.
One day the residents of Ohio will be going about their normal day. Seeing their children off to school, preparing for a day’s work, without the slightest hint that something was happening that they couldn’t see.
One in every four households is going to be affected by someone or something and members of their families will go missing.
Mothers and Fathers will be awakened to find a daughter, son or loved one, not in their beds or where they should be.
Frantic calls from homes in Columbus, Bellefontaine and Port Clinton, and reports of empty fishing boats on Lake Erie will flood local law enforcement offices, replacing the normal calls of cats stuck up trees or dogs stuck in manholes.
In homes that weren’t directly or indirectly affected, people will go about their daily routines without a care in the world over the news reports of people reported missing.
It will sound too bizarre and no one unaffected to care unless it is someone they know.
Nothing will appear out of the ordinary. Due to the indifference and the isolation in how people live their lives, without any attention being paid, but make no mistake something dark and very frightening is coming.
Government, state and local law enforcement will report that there’s no distinguishable pattern among those reported missing, simply no pattern.
The only way to make sense of this whole thing is for me to start at the beginning, at the beginning with Sister Mary Jacalyn, David, Deanne, Kristin, Wendi, Tim, Mary and Steve.
Sister Mary Jacalyn told them that when she comes she was going to exact her revenge upon the descendants of those whom she claimed falsely accused and put her to death.
Several of Sister Mary Jacalyn’s ability is that she can alter reality and control time and space. When Sister Mary Jacalyn becomes especially pissed she can send you into a dimension known as ‘The Nothingness’, which is what she has in store for many of the residents in Columbus, Bellefontaine and Port Clinton, Ohio.
Introduction
What would it take to convince you that someone has returned from the dead is changing and altering a person’s reality?
How much evidence would you need to be convinced that someone other than yourself is able to control your mind and your memory?
How frightened would it make you, to know that there is someone or something that can do all of this and more and that there would not be a single thing you could do to stop it.
Would you leave your homes, would you go anywhere? Would you fall asleep in your favorite chair, or on the sofa or in your bed?
Would you turn the lights in your home off at night, or would you be too afraid to take that relaxing bath?
Sister Mary Jacalyn is the one, the one who will instill this type of fear in the residents of Columbus, Port Clinton and Bellefontaine, Ohio.
The first person to witness firsthand Sister Mary Jacalyn’s power was Deanne, David, Steve, Mary and Wendi’s college friend Kristin.
Kristin always prided herself as being ‘Ms. Jump-Bad’, but she bumped her gums at the wrong person when she got up in Sister Mary Jacalyn’s grille.
Sister Mary Jacalyn sent Kristin to a place called ‘The Nothingness’. She explained that The Nothingness was more of a dimension without existence than a timeless place. A nightmare without waking, an existence without reality.
Sister Mary Jacalyn also explained that once she sends you to The Nothingness, she and she alone creates the reality and controls the experiences a person encounters.
Very much like having a bad dream where nothing makes sense, and everything is fragmented.
Kristin dared show her ass off to Sister Mary Jacalyn and now she will spend every breath in The Nothingness without any hope of returning.
Deanne, Mary, Wendi, Steve, David and Tim have found themselves at David and Deanne’s farm without any possible way of fighting this Nun from hell.
Tim and Mary lived in Madison, Wisconsin not far from Kristin, while David and Deanne, lived in Columbus, and Wendi and Steve lived in Bellefontaine Ohio. The farm in Port Clinton was David’s inherited property from his grandparents.
David had explained to Steve and the group that his Mother only recently told him that the farm was his because family tradition has it, that the oldest son inherits all the family property and that she felt it was cursed.
David, Steve and Tim were discussing the fact that none of their cars was parked in front of the farmhouse, so how they got there was a mystery they’d have to solve.
Recap
In the Doppelgangers, part 1… "Beginnings", we are introduced to David Blue and his girlfriend Deanne Byrd of Columbus Ohio. David and Deanne are driving to their farm in Port Clinton, Ohio. Some years earlier, David inherited the farm and he and Deanne decided to turn it into a Bed & Breakfast for the guest who comes to Port Clinton for Lake Erie fishing.
Along with the Bed & Breakfast, David and Deanne are hosting their annual Labor Day cookout for their six college friends, Steve & Wendi Hardy, who lives in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Leonard & Kristin Dooley, of Madison Wisconsin, and Tim and Mary Williamson, also of Madison.
While in Port Clinton, David begins seeing his Doppelgangers and the evil doubles of others as well. No one else can see them but David, and he is trying to convince them of what he sees.
One by one his friends at the farm are disappearing as though they were never there in the first place, but David believes otherwise. After several days of being at the farm and seeing all of the things that David is seeing and experiencing, David suffers a mental breakdown and Deanne takes David to Columbus, to the VA Psychiatric Hospital for help.
The Doppelgangers, part 2…The Others
. David is released from the VA Psychiatric Hospital and this time instead of simply seeing Doppelgangers, he and many residents are being visited by a host of Doppelgangers, other spiritual beings and a 7-foot tall man wearing a doll’s mask, a ballerina’s tutu and sneakers.
David and the residents of Port Clinton, Bellefontaine and Columbus Ohio are told to beware that there is a wicked Nun who is on her way to pay them for what their ancestors did to her.
The Doppelgangers, part 3…The Nun.
David and his friends, along with some of the residents of Columbus, Port Clinton and Bellefontaine are introduced to the Nun, Sister Mary Jacalyn. A wicked Nun, who along with an evil and Sadistic Priest, was accused, tried, convicted and put to death for the murders of over fifty-six boys and girls in the 1800s.
Sister Mary Jacalyn has the ability to alter reality, transport people from place to place, and reality to fantasy. Sister Mary Jacalyn is focusing her wrath upon the descendants of the Magistrate, Police, and those who sat in judgement of her.
Unfortunately, many of the descendants are married with families, and they too will suffer Sister Mary Jacalyn’s wrath.
Chapter One
Don’t Panic
The Farm in Port Clinton, Ohio
Saturday 6:30 a.m.
Deanne, Mary and Wendi watched as David, Tim and Steve were on the front porch talking about something, as Mary commented…
They’re probably talking sports or some kind of dip shit conversation, you know?
Well, they better be talking about coming in and eating breakfast, I mean I don’t think we cooked all of this food for nothing.
Deanne said as she walked away from the window and towards the kitchen when Wendi said…
Breakfast…what breakfast, did you cook Deanne?
Turning and looking at Wendi, Deanne said…
Duh… what you, me and Mary slaved over an hour for.
Catching up to Deanne Wendi replied…
Hello…I think somebody’s tripping or something.
Yeah, I think so too.
Mary said as she followed Wendi in the kitchen with Deanne.
Upon entering the kitchen, Deanne saw that the table was bare, and there were no dirty dishes nor the slightest scent of food.
With a look of disbelief on her face, Deanne opened the refrigerator and turned back at Mary and Wendi saying…
Aww C’mon now, we cooked a whole mess of eggs, pancakes, bacon and grits.
Just at that moment, Steve, David and Tim entered the dining room as Tim said…
Mmm, that smells and looks good…IT’S CHOW TIME!
Deanne, Mary and Wendi looked at Tim and then back to the table where eggs, pancakes, bacon, grits and a large jug of orange juice sat.
Oh, hell to the no, tell me we’re not seeing this!
Mary snapped, as she looked at both Wendi and Deanne.
Tim, David and Steve sat at the table and grabbed plates and proceeded with loading an ample amount of food when David looked up at Deanne, saying…
What! We said grace.
Steve mumbled under his breath…
Yeah quietly.
THAT’S NOT WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT, WE DIDN’T MAKE THIS FOOD!
Deanne yelled as she backed away from the table.
David and Steve looked at one another and then proceeded to fill their mouths.
Struggling to swallow, Steve said…
Let’s see…me, Tim and Dave were outside, and you guys were in here, so, if you guys didn’t cook this, then the ghost that are here can sure throw down on some vittles.
Mary raised her head and replied…
Boy, I swear, you spend a weekend down south and all of a sudden, you’re saying vittles instead of food or grub.
Deanne and Wendi walked in the kitchen to make something for themselves when Tim jumped up out of his chair and started spitting the food from his mouth.
Looking at Tim, David and Steve the women saw that Tim had a mouth full of maggots and grub worms.
Tim threw his fork on his plate and started for the kitchen when David, Steve and the women noticed that there was no food on any of the plates, only grubs and maggots.
"That’s disgusting."
Mary shrieked as she lit a cigarette and walked towards the liquor cabinet.
At that time Steve and David carefully picked up their plates and emptied them in the wastepaper pale and joined Mary at the liquor cabinet.
David and Steve joined Tim in throwing back two big shots of vodka when Deanne said…
Hey Blue, I thought you said when you and Steve were in Vietnam, you had to eat bug-infested food.
Tilting his head sideways, Steve replied…
Yeah, it was bug-infested food, but we’re not in Vietnam, besides, you’re talking about survival back then.
Deanne walked up behind David saying…
Blue, I hate to say I told you so, but I told you we didn’t make the food.
Tim was still spitting maggots out of his mouth when David yelled…
"Aww man, go in the kitchen and spit that crap in the sink…not all over the floor."
Sorry ‘bout that dude, I was trying to avoid throwing up all over the place.
Tim said as he bent over the sink rinsing his mouth out and spitting out chewed fragments which were in the back of his throat.
Meanwhile, Steve called everyone in the living room saying…
Now, I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but Dave, Tim and I were talking earlier about how we all got here because there are no cars outside, and now this.
Sitting next to Steve, Wendi said…
Yeah, and who or what made plates to bugs and shit look like food, for us to eat?
Just then Mary shouted and pointed at the front room window, saying…
WHO THE HELL IS THAT?
The front room has a total of three windows and standing there in the first window was this lady in all white with an ashen-milky white face, just staring at us. Then she went from window to window, stopping at each one and staring at us as if she was gliding, and not walking, and then she disappeared.
Deanne stood up and began rubbing the chill off her arms, saying…
I don’t mind saying this but, I just wanna get my happy ass back to Columbus.
Yawning and kicking his shoes off, David said…
Somehow, I don’t think that is going to be an option, you know.
Looking worried at David, Wendi said…
Do you know something that we don’t know Dave?
Yeah, what’s up with saying that Dave?
Mary said, as she walked over and poured another Vodka.
Pouring himself a large glass of wine David turned to Mary and the others saying…
"I dunno, unless I’m missing something, there are no cars outside, but we got here somehow and who in here made the breakfast we just had?
All I’m saying is, I don’t think we can do anything, who or whatever is responsible for all of this is, in control, not to mention miss strange ass, who was just in
