Awareness/Education
Australia’s shame
My reason for including this in this book is to raise awareness of our plight. So much of the public are still unaware. In addition, to raise consciousness of our past situation and its effects. So that what happened to us as state wards and home children becomes as well known as the experiences of the ‘stolen generations’, child migrants and adoptees
‘Forgotten Australians’
CLAN-is an organisation that was established in July 2000 by Leonie Sheedy and Joanna Penglase
The formation was to raise awareness of the issues, and needs of five hundred thousand children removed from their families by the ‘State’
After two Senate Inquiries and an apology from Kevin Rudd and Malcolm Turnbull
In 2009
Words are easy to say action is what is needed if their apology was to be sincere then why do we remain forgotten?
We continue to be sanguine though little has changed. The politicians of this country can ignore the past but we are not going away and will continue to fight for recognition
As little as two thousand four hundred and twenty five to an unlikely fifty thousand Stolen Generation were removed from their families. This information can easily be attained from the web
Even so, it is a long way off from five hundred thousand white children, who were removed never to see their families again. We are the forgotten survivors of a past child welfare system which deprived us of a sense of identity, of self-worth, and of a rightful place in our society.
The wheels of justice are turning very slowly though we will never give up on our struggles. To gain recognition and hold the very people accountable that perpetrated such atrocities against little children.
If we can get through our childhoods then we can fight these bureaucrats with ease
The Royal Commission into sexual assault that took place in orphanages, foster homes has taken up the reigns and have begun to listen to our stories
Chronicle
I just wanted to share a little background on myself with my readers this is my first stab at writing. The book is a blend of stories, poems and political matters it has been a challenge to choose which genre to file it under I figured the best category for this project is to put it under non-fiction
Throughout my life, I had little connection with my family. I was fostered by two different families they both had ulterior motives the first one I was to be their daughters play mate. The second family saw me as a kid they could sexually abuse. I made the mistake of notifying ‘The Child Welfare. What takes place is in the story of ‘Lynwood Hall’ is a true account of what happened to me—it taught me a very valuable lesson—not to admit to anyone what was happening in my life.
I have always enjoyed writing and all of my stories are true, though I seemed to be always in trouble at school. And, spent most of my time at the principal’s office getting disciplined which really did not do much for me. I was born stubborn and determined these traits would often be a source of frustration to others. An example of this was when I read my DOCS file and the remark Never met a tougher nut can’t crack her
was written up by a physiologist I believe I was all of thirteen.
I would not conform to their established rules.
Instead of allowing my childhood to dominate my life, I learnt to become indomitable not to be another statistic
If you are curious to find out what happened in my life I am in the process of writing

I searched for forty years to find my sister I found her on the other side of the world in the United Kingdom. Bonnie, I really believe we had a helping hand from above
when Simon my nephew spotted that blurb on the Connecting Kin site
