Wise Guys Memoirs... Mucus's Journey - Braylon James

Chapter 1: First Summer on Earth

    BEEP… BEEP… BEEP

    BEEP… BEEP… BEEP

Oh crap, it’s Monday. I’ve got to get up and get ready for school.

I jumped up and began running around, trying to quickly get ready for school before I missed the bus. I brush my teeth, put on my clothes, then hurry down for breakfast.

    Hey, where is everyone?

There was no one there. At that moment, I realized, we didn’t have school today.

Get it together Marcus, I thought to myself.

I was so tired, I forgot that today was the first day of summer vacation.  Still

exhausted from my birthday party and spending the weekend showing my parents around town, I felt it would be best if I headed back to bed.

After laying there for about thirty minutes, I realized that this was pointless because I wouldn’t be able to fall back to sleep now that I am completely dressed. So, I go back downstairs and pour me a bowl of cereal. Mom walked around the corner and saw me sitting at the table.

Hey, Marcus! I didn’t expect to see you up this early, considering there is no school.

Yeah, I forgot it was summer vacation and didn’t turn off my school alarm, so it woke me up and I got dressed thinking I was running late for school.

Well, what are your plans today?

I think I might catch up with some friends and hang out a little.

Sounds like fun, don’t forget the Morgan’s want to have a family meeting with everyone. So just make sure you are back by 4 pm.

Mom grabs her cup of coffee and heads back to her room.  I finish my cereal and head back to my room to clean up before catching up with my friends. I met up with Cortney and Ethan at the park.  We hung around for a few hours goofing off, then up walked Christian.  For some reason, I still cringe a little when I see him. I have to tell myself that he is cool now.

    Hey, fellas, what’s up?

    Hey, what’s up Christian?

Nothing much, I just came over to invite you guys to my end of the year party Friday. I’ve had it planned for a while, but you know since we just became friends, I thought it would be cool for you guys to come. Everyone is going to be there!

Sure, I’ll be there! Should I bring anything?

Nope, just come ready to party, Christian shouted as he walked off.

I was excited.  Besides my birthday party, I had never been to a real party before. This was going to be so awesome.  I’d finally get a chance to show off my dance moves that I was well known for on Zortrax. I wonder if Justin and Ryan were invited. He said everyone was going to be there, so I assume that meant everyone was in our grade level.

Cortney must have been trying to get my attention for a while because when I came to, he and Ethan were staring at me like I was crazy, and he was snapping his fingers at me.

    Marcus… Dude… Snap out of it…

Oh, sorry dude.  I was just thinking about how much fun Christian’s Party is going to be.

Yeah, it’s going to be so much fun, Ethan replied. Do you guys want to walk to Christian’s house together on Friday?

Sure, we can meet up at my house, said Marcus.  Hey, do either of you have the time?

    Cortney answered, it’s 3:45.

    "Oh, crap I’m
