Wise Guys Memoirs... Mucus's Journey - Braylon James

    Chapter 1: It’s an Alien

I awake exhausted from the day before. Ugh, Sunday already? Saturday was such a blur. I lay in bed, going over yesterday’s events. Just thinking about the what if, has me nauseous…

Oh no, I can’t believe what I’d just heard. I paced back and forth as I said to myself, What should I do? Marcus come on… think, think, think. I tried to call back. I hit the call button and shouted into the computer, Call mom and dad! but it just kept giving me a busy signal. I must have called back about ten times, and still no answer. I plopped down onto my chair feeling defeated and lost, thinking I have no idea what to do.

Suddenly, Blake yelled, Haaaaaaa! Alien! There’s an alien in the kitchen!

I jumped up, Oh crap, Germ!

I ran downstairs into the kitchen and Germ was standing there with a face full of tears, hugging a picture frame with a photo of our family. He was so scared, he was shaking. I dropped to my knees, so I could hug him to try and calm him down.

Germ, it’s me Marcus, you’re going to be okay. Don’t worry I’ve got you. He looked at me as he continued to cry, I want mommy. Blake stood there with his mouth open. Germ was still in alien form, so he was really freaked out.

By this time, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan heard the commotion and ran into the kitchen.

Marcus is that Germ? What is he doing here so soon? Mrs. Morgan said nervously.

I began crying because I realized my parents weren’t coming. Germ… buddy, can you tell me what happened? Where is mom and dad? He was able to calm down enough to say, I don’t know Marcus. There was a loud BOOM, and stuff started flying everywhere. Mommy was crying, and she told me I was going to stay with you.

Okay, buddy don’t worry we are going to figure this out.

Mr. Morgan asked, So Marcus could you tell us what’s going on? What happened to your parents?

I didn’t know what to tell them, so I had them come up to my room to play mom’s voicemail. They stared at me with horror in their eyes as Mr. Morgan said, "Okay, we can figure this out. I’ll try to reach your dad through our systems at work. I’ll head down to the office to see what I can figure out."

Mr. Morgan worked for a space center, which is how he could communicate with my dad in the first place. No one knew that he had contact with another world, he was keeping it a secret to protect my family.

Make sure to keep Germ out of sight for now, we don’t want neighbors finding out about him. It would be very bad if news got out that there was an alien on earth. said Mr. Morgan.

Mrs. Morgan replied, Okay, don’t worry. I’ve got the kids, you go ahead and see if you can figure out what’s going on with Zortrax.

Things on Zortrax must not be good, because Mr. Morgan did not come home all night, which was making me more nervous, because I still had not heard from my parents. I hope they are safe… I hope they can contact me soon. I bet they are scared and fighting hard to get back to me and my brother.

And what about Pencil? Hopefully, he and his family could get out, but I’m not sure if many aliens knew that coming to earth was an option. I hate not knowing what’s going on. I have all these crazy thoughts going through my head. I just need a little bit of hope, something that says everything is going to be okay.

The next morning, Mr. Morgan finally walked into the house looking defeated. He hadn’t been to sleep in almost two days, so I didn’t want to bombard him with tons of questions, but I needed answers. I needed to know if my parents were stuck, hurt, or worse…

Mr. Morgan, were you able to find anything, yet?

Marcus, I’m so sorry buddy but things are a mess down at the space center. Alarms are going off like crazy because signals started coming in; there was a small explosion on one of the planets, but because of the forcefield that Zortrax has around it, they still don’t know there is life there. Unfortunately, to protect you and your brother, I can’t tell them what I’m up to. I really wish I had more for you, I know how scared you and your brother are.  As soon as I find something, you’ll be the first to know.
