    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Iwill give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places.

    Isaiah 45:3 (NKJ)

    Introduction

For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock. Psalm 27:5

Someone I once met made a comment that trouble is a gift. Who wants the gift of trouble? However, turmoil, darkness and pain do serve a greater good. You will come to realize that they were your greatest blessing, and the help that could have never occurred. Visualize this- you are struggling to find your way in a dark room, struggling to find and reach the light switch, but it is further up the hallway. After what seems an eternity you find the switch and turn on the light, and boom, it is like having an epiphany, a revelation! Suddenly you discover that what you were seeking you had all along.

Have you ever discovered something and felt like you had been hit with a boulder but it does not hurt, instead it is sweet joy because you will never be the same anymore? You ask yourself the question; Why didn’t I get it?. You realized you had to go through the motions, you had to grow into it and evolve. It was a learning process; a period of preparation that had you not gone through it you would never have experienced the change.

You have questioned yourself; Why am I going through all of this? Why me, what have I done to deserve this? I am trying, but the floodgates of problems- my own, my family, social, and political seem to come my way. You resigned yourself to the belief that there is never a dull moment. It’s like going from hell to the fiery furnace. You make one step forward only to slide 10 steps back as you continue your search to discover the light.

Many can attest to periods in their lives where they walked without any concept of their purpose, or if even they had a purpose at all. They found themselves in a world where they were given a set of rules; rules of what we should or should not be doing in order to walk into the right path, or if we followed the rules life would turn out fine. But this is far from the truth. The truth is, those rules were contrary to our destiny. Instead we find ourselves battling the spirit, and psychologically being tugged here and there. Confused, and sometimes fed up, we find means of dealing with the truth inside, and also the demands of the physical world.

The truth is, your destiny has already been placed inside of you before you came to this life. This is why your truth and man’s governmental orientation have been in a battle. So much so that drugs, crime, mental illness, failures, and setbacks became a path that many have become entangled in before coming to a place of surrender. What is on the inside of each of us is greater to our fulfillment and peace in this life.

How many of us eventually, after doing the career thing and impressing this one and that one, become miserable. Many will leave the conferences, go back to their hotel rooms to binge on liquor, and cry because they are so unfulfilled. They know this is not who they are. Who you are is on the inside of you, and it is bidding you to take up the challenge and come into alignment with who you are and allow the spirit to guide you. We have seen this played out historically, down through the generations and also in our modern-day society.

Hidden is a story that was given to me by the Holy Spirit. It was directed and written under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to enlighten those that are seeking answers for greater clarity and insight into their life’s struggles. If you have ever been misunderstood, struggling, picked on, or been an outcast – not fitting in even when you try to be like the others- you have been hidden although visible to some, but spiritually in hiding by God.

All awareness and change in the life of man, as it relates to their purpose and the fulfillment of their destiny, is derived from a divine energy source we call God. This energy ignites inside of us giving us the ability to shift our thinking, change, evolve, and transform our current state. This energy is our battery, electric source, our currency- without it nothing happens. We will continue in our state of under-development and darkness until that divine spark of light is turned on to illuminate the soul of our being.

A soul that is full of light will forever transcend and transform human limitations: social, spiritual, or emotional. All we need to ask for is the divine awareness and enlightenment to come and give us the power to change the part of who we are, which currently does not serve our purpose. Christ informed his disciples and us that the things he did we will and can do also. We have the power to heal, transform, change, develop, and bring our lives to the intended purpose we were created to be.

This book was driven by a divine question that was asked of me while meditating and preparing myself for a speech. The question was Does God hide His people, or has God ever hid anyone or is God currently hiding anyone? After careful pondering the question, and a review of historical and current events, I came to a profound Yes, that God has, is, and will continue to hide His people from harm, to develop character, to preserve until they are fully grown in mind, body and soul – as played out in the life of Jesus, Moses, and David in the bible.

It is my belief that man is predestined to fulfill the plan of God in the earth. The best way to answer the question asked of me is to use my life, biblical events, and current life situations of others to show how God uses people that had been hidden in life’s problems for a time and season (Ecclesiastes 3:1) to prove to the world that He can use anyone from any walk of life to establish His plan in the earth.

    Chapter 1

    Does God Hide His People?

I decided to write this book to answer a question: Is anyone hidden among us or has ever been hidden in order for purpose and destiny to be fulfilled; and if so, who or what hides them? As I embarked upon this writing I examined my own life and the life of others past, present, secular and in a spiritual sense. Everything is hidden and then comes forward knowingly or unknowingly. A seed is hidden in the dirt, grows out of the earth and becomes a tree after its own kind. Purpose and destiny that is hidden in the souls of men by the Creator manifest its calling in its given season. As the saying goes what is to be will be- it was in the divine plan.

As I sat one day preparing a speech for a presentation in the quietness of my meditation, a slow, still voice asked me in the peace of my mind; Does God hide His people or is God still hiding anyone and why does God hide His people?

It was a strange question. Up until this time I had never pondered it, but as I begin to think upon the question, my mind went back to the Old Testament and the scriptures as a guide for what was written about different lives. On the question of who I thought was hidden I begin to think about men such as Moses, Jesus, and David just to mention a few. I pondered about their lives and the reasons why God had brought them into the world. I was reminded what social problems, spiritual problems, oppression and darkness that existed during those times. I thought upon the prophecy that had gone forth before they came and why they would be coming. Reasons such as: to create change, to bring awareness both spiritually and emotionally, also physically.

I thought about Moses and how his mother had to place him in the basket and send him down the river for his personal safety. Pharaoh had decreed that every firstborn male child would be killed; the intent was to destroy the promise that God would send a child that would be born who would become a Deliverer for the Israelites and would bring the people out of bondage and slavery in Egypt into a land where they would be free and live in peace.

The Bible depicts for us how the infant was discovered by none other than the daughter of Pharaoh, and she took him and raised him as her own son. He found favor with all who met him until he was mature physically, spiritually and emotionally and with great understanding and passion. He had passion for the mission that God had placed in his heart. We read that when Moses saw a Hebrew person being beaten up by an Egyptian, he was moved with compassion and anger, and he killed the Egyptian and hid his body. Before then no one knew that Moses was different, his purpose would begin to come forth. I noticed that when God has given us a mission we would have a passion for it. His purpose begins to grow in our heart.

Looking at the life of Jesus, the Christ. God sent him to teach us truth, about God’s Kingdom, a government in heaven that will bring peace on earth. His ministry was to provide the hope of everlasting life (John 4:14; 18:36, 37). Jesus’ ministry was one of love. He also taught people by doing God’s will they will find real happiness (Mathew 5:3; 6:19-21). However, for 30 years Jesus’ life was spotty – we would learn that the young lad was moved here and there, being hidden physically and shrouded spiritually so as to disguise him from the hands of the enemy to protect the promise of God.

    Circumstances of Life

In a conspiracy orchestrated by God, we saw Moses hidden in a basket and set down the river; Jesus was taken into Egypt to hide him from the rulers of that time; David the youngest and the least likely among the sons of Jesse, a shepherd boy hidden in a pasture to tend his father’s sheep even though he was ordained by God to become king of Israel. Currently we have seen many of our modern-day leaders- Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Barack Obama, Maya Angelou, to name a few had been hidden in social circumstances of poverty, rejection, discrimination . eventually after time and season, they were revealed to be some of the most significant transformers and changers of our time. God is not the Respecter of persons, places or time; what he has done in the life of one, he will do for another.  What he has done for men and women of old he will do for you and me today.

In my own life, I was born and raised in poverty and a broken home. I suffered many setbacks that kept me hidden in the earlier parts of my life; yet God had a plan for my life. You might be hidden right now under circumstances. However, God has a plan no matter how significant or insignificant it may seem and you will rise and evolve to your calling. Why can we have confidence in this?

In the beginning was God. He created every living thing upon the earth. He created mankind. In man, He would cause his works to be made manifest. He hid his secret treasures in the soul of man-so that through the works of man we would see His wondrous works. Man was fashioned in the image and likeness of his Creator.  He (meaning man) was preordained an assigned role. This assigned role was hidden from our human understanding in the beginning, Nevertheless, life will make a way for its manifestation.

    Nothing Just Happens

Many years ago, my girlfriend and I were having a conversation as we lamented over the behavior that we had noticed with some of the neighboring youngsters. I can remember saying to her How did they turn out this way?. She replied, They did not turn out that way, they came like that. I was taken aback by the statement, understanding it to mean that our true self cannot be tarnished or changed regardless of influences. I asked myself ‘doesn’t it seem that man is a mystery, never knowing the capabilities of what one is able to do or how life will turn out?’

It is my belief that time and opportunity cross paths at some point in life and make for the manifestations of what was meant to be. We are in hiding until the opportune moment has come for us to be presented. Have you ever suddenly discovered something about yourself that you honestly did not know you had in you? I have discovered things about myself that made me say I did not know I had that in me. The Creator hides man’s destiny through many precarious situations (unsuspecting to us) to bring them forth unto Himself for His purpose. Everything (whether we like it or not) was created or made to manifest for a purpose even though we may never understand why.

If we really look at things, there is a secret mystery to a woman who becomes pregnant. Once that seed has implanted itself in the darkness of the womb, it will take a season before coming forth to discover whether it is a girl or boy. Every living thing must be hidden for germination, maturity and then spring forth into life. This simply means that during hibernation things take on character and develop their identity for which it was made after its own kind.

Man was created with a purpose; to answer to the mission for which it was made. This mission is unknown to us at birth but evolves as time goes by. For many, trials and tribulations were the compass that guided us to the unknown agenda that was already etched within our souls. The psalmist lamented though the darkness hides us (Psalm 139:11), the creator is the master of using the worst things which we have found ourselves as foundation from which our purpose will come forth.

It seems that many of us coming up through the thorns of life have somehow been shrouded through those difficulties? Furthermore, who knew where life would have taken us? I have to say, purpose has a lazar sharp light that the dimness of our path can never be hindered or prevented from navigating its way to the surface. The popular saying goes: Where there is a will, there will be a way.

If there is a way in then there is a way out, and that is the beauty of destiny because it was preordained. All tools were made available for us to solve the problems we experience. It is up to us to reach up and make use of those tools. There is no problem so great that a solution was not already designed. My grandmother used a popular saying, the darkest part of night is just before day breaks. If wherever we are, God is, we must understand that our Problem Solver is right where we are, and is available at any given moment to help us.

    Understanding Our Dark Moments

The moments of life where we had been hidden by darkness are those moments where we grow and take on form. We must understand that dark moments are part of the divine plan for our lives. Our Creator is using these trials to serve His purpose for our lives. Every situation, no matter how destructive it may seem, we are never doomed. Every situation along the way traveled are moments of preparation for the road up ahead.

The journey is worse than the destination. The stops, frustrations, arguments, accidents, friends you made, friends that left, you may have to wait, be the last to get off the bus-yet it was the route for your bus. Along the way is where we have been taught important lessons that prepares for the place we are heading. You may not understand what you are going through today, but know it is just preparing you for a greater tomorrow. Nothing just happens without a reason. Nothing happens out of the blue; it is all in the path of destiny preordained to take you into your destination. For example, buses going by on the street. Every bus has a route to bring us to a certain place in life. Our situations are like the buses travelling specifically designed route in order to get to a designated place. What happens along the way was not by chance or accident as it may seem; it was all designed for the destination. It might all seem confusing.

    Moments of Confusion

You are caught up; so many things have happened in your life. People call you bad names and you begin to believe
