There was a time long, long, long ago when the whole earth was covered with great evergreen forests. There were huge Hemlock, Spruce, Pine, Fir trees, and many more evergreens. It seemed as far as the eye could see, if there were not water or mountains, there was some kind of evergreen tree. One day, deep in the middle of a forest in America, a strange little tree began to grow. The evergreen trees watched this odd young thing with great curiosity. What do you suppose it is?
asked the huge Blue Spruce.
Oh, it must be some kind of new weed.
said the Pine. "It won’t grow much… they never do. The Wind probably dropped some seed to be his bratty old self. One season at the most, that’s all any of them last. Judging by how scrawny it is, it won’t even last that long. Can you believe that even a weed
