Annette Wilson

Annette Wilson is a mother of four children, and a grandmother of two. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. A Macrobiotic/Natural Gourmet Chef. One who loves sharing her cooking skills with friends and family. Annette feels privileged to have been able to stay home, work part time and raise her children. She learned a great deal from her children and siblings. But did not realize that she had a whole lot more to learn in a different environment. Following her arrival in the United States, Annette found herself surrounded by kids. She felt privileged to work with many families. Annette learned early that children have one thing in common: The need for love and understanding. To be treated with kindness and patience. It does not matter what your culture is, who you are, or what you look like. Your genuine touch, love, warm smile and care will keep them coming to you and even caring for you in return. The parents of these children allowed Annette to give their children pet names. Names such as, the BOZZ, CHICKEN HIDER, SOSO, 10 cents, MEME and DEBONZO, and the list goes on. Annette cared for many of them when they were babies, they are now young adults and doing well. As Annette learns about how well some of them are doing, it warms her heart. Out of this experience came the story of Poksy. Annette appreciates and loves the children. Thanks for the opportunity to share a small part of your lives with us. It was so rewarding, enriching and fulfilling. Thanks for the surprised phone calls now and again to check in or to share a joke. Thanks for loving me back

To all the children I had the opportunity to spend time with and grow with.

I learned a whole new life being with you:

Adam, Elon, Lois, Andie, Allon, Sarah, Shirley, Ricky, Matt, Chris, Torrie, Jesse, Anna, Pet, Gaius, Shem, Damie, May, Rose, Joe, Hezron, and Jonah.

Special thanks to Vernette for giving Poksy his dimples.

Poksy was born with two dimples, one on each side of his face. When he was born, he had the loudest cry. One of the nurses came to check on him and his mom and were delighted to see his dimples as he cried. When he gave a wink, the dimples appeared as well; the nurse poked her little finger in his dimple, and from then on, she called him Poksy, and so did all the other nurses. Poksy became his nick name.

When Poksy was just about turning six years old, his mother, Mrs. Planner was planning a major clean-up of all the storage boxes of toys, books, and crafts that he had grown out of.

Poksy never wanted to get rid of anything, but he promised his mother that he would help her clean out the boxes. Poksy did not really like cleaning, but he thought if he was around while his mother was cleaning out the boxes, he could keep some things she wanted to throw out. Poksy was sentimental about everything he owned, even the waste paper; he had an excuse for keeping everything his mother thought was necessary to throw away or give to someone in need.

There was a box in the storage room
