Being Humane - Thanushika Mohanraj
EVERYTHING.
Introduction
I am not much experienced but I am sure that I had at least little knowledge to observe the world around me. As you guessed this book is all about the observation that I made for the past 5 years.Let me ignore the environmental or political or cultural aspect of society and only focus on social beings i,e. we humans . Humans have changed so immensely that we even forgot the qualities that humans possess. This book is an effort to regain the qualities of humans or in other words how to be humane. We are just surviving in the crowd and are not living our own life. And that's why I named this book ‘being humane- to live not survive’
Life is made up of elements of happiness, sadness, chaos, trauma , paranoia , failure, success, drama, love, hate, betrayal, fights, breakups etc. And you know, that's what makes life so beautiful. Never the external world determines how these words are gonna affect you but you. These rolls of words depend on you and how you react to them. If you can take them in a positive way and react to them effectively , you can lead a happy life
In this book we will deal with 10 chapters that are very essential for every human in the universe .It mainly focuses on the problem that an individual undergoes without his knowledge and the ways to overcome it.It starts from the cultural tradition that we blindly follow to modern education and its impact. The last chapter will be more interesting and special . It consists of some learnings from Bhagavad Gita (the life book).
This book is not about the starling nights or the beautiful days or the engaging biography or battle and war , it’s a very simple book that covers the simple attitudes of humans which remain uncovered. Hope this book will have a positive impact on you and your life . Let’s not wait further !! Get into the book !
chapter 01 question your practice, follow your answer
" Don't just accept and practice something just because
Someone else said it or it was followed by several people
LEARN , KNOW and EVALUATE it yourself".
-Harsh shah
It was 15 may 2004 nearly 8.02 am , while my whole family was expecting a boy baby from my mother. To their dismay I was born as a girl. From then till now ,there is always a question that worries me - ‘why is men valued more than women?’ . I studied all possible ways - starting from ethnographic surveys to reading hundreds of scientific and cultural articles but I ended up finding no answer to this question. Only then I realised even thousands of articles or researches would never suffice to answer this question because it was not scientifically or philosophically created, rather created by human beings for their very own convienence .Humans create things and change them for their convenience in the way that few are at advantageous side and many are deprived of their basic rights .
Some create cultural practices for their own convenience and we tend to follow it blindly without understanding the fact behind it. Is this the right act of living?
Let me give you an example-
