A Different Kind of Safari eBook - Helen C Hipp

About the Author - Helen C. Hipp

Born in Yonkers, N.Y., in 1959, Helen is the middle child of five born to Thomas Ludlow Chrystie and Eliza Balis Chrystie. Having an artist as a mother provided Helen with endless opportunities to look at things from different perspectives.

Helen’s father, whose work demanded strong problem-solving skills and out- of-the-box thinking, continually kept her on her toes, as well. Their unique approaches helped simplify the challenge of learning math for Helen with a Solutions instead of Problems approach involving her love of horses. Math then became Horse- matic, a creative task that worked for Helen.

The value of her earlier experiences became more and more apparent after she had her two children, Eliza and Raymond. She continued to take advantage of a mindset that centered on creating opportunities out of obstacles, a concept she fostered in her children, one of whom has special needs. As Helen explored career opportunities, she connected her personal experiences (parenting a child with special needs) with her beliefs, professional skills, and aspirations.

Helen has authored articles for Family Works and Washington Family Magazine and has been a contributor as a special needs consultant to FOX44 News in Burlington, Vermont. Her new adventure book, A Different Kind
