The Revised Sabermetric Approach To Biorhythm Theory And Major League Baseball
()
About this ebook
I am the First person in History to show a correlation between the "59"s and "58" shot in professional golf and Biorhythm Theory. I am also the First person in History to show a correlation between the first five road team wins of the 2019 World Series and Biorhythm Theory.
Why is this so?
For years there were not enough "59"s shot to examine for a Biorhythm pattern analysis.
By 2019 the interest in Biorhythm Theory had significantly declined.
This decline was in part due to: "world class" skeptics such as Terence Hines, PhD-- skeptics Robert T. Carroll, PhD along with Andrew Heisel of the Chicago Tribune.
In 2015 Andrew Heisel wrote an article in which he prematurely announced Biorhythm Theory DEAD.
Although I researched and offered compelling evidence that Biorhythm cycles exist-- I did NOT prove Biorhythm Theory as a whole.
Biorhythm Theory as it was originally formulated is FLAWED.
Yet I submit to you: The Biorhythm Cycles exist!
In this book I present an expanded, comprehensive-- detailed analysis with a "Sabermetric" like approach. Also included is a tutorial on Biorhythm Theory and info on how to access two free websites And -- Much, much more!

How To Use This Book
I could have entitled this book : Biorhythm Cycles versus Biorhythm Theory
.
Why ?
It behooves me to obtain and gain the respect that the study of Biorhythm Cycles deserves!
Behooves?
Is that Archaic?
Seldom used?
I will further establish in this book--Biorhythm Cycles exist—particularly the Physical and Intellectual Cycles. However, the Theory
behind these cycles as it was originally proposed over a hundred years ago— is flawed.
I have also introduced Sabermetrics
into our discussion. It is the reigning scientific analysis of all relevant baseball data and stats. We will examine what both Sabermetrics and Biorhythm Theory can and cannot do.
For many of you or maybe most—your motivation for reading this book might be to bet on baseball.
Tempting
I suggest you read this book as a source of
Entertainment
Enlightenment
However, if you must be bet.... bet knowledgeably as well as responsibly.
Does this sound like a Public Safety Announcement?
Could be—if you gamble your money away and cannot pay the mortgage.
As a coach or manager, you may find the info within illuminating , as it sheds more light on players ( and even coaches and managers) as it relates and parallels dramatic differences in performances. It might perhaps be used as a biofeedback tool to enhance whatever performance-enhancing programs you may already have in place.
However you decide to use this book—You will find the most comprehensive , thorough—and more importantly HONEST analysis of how Biorhythm Cycles relate-- influence Major League Baseball.
Aside from baseball
The study of Biorhythm Cycles could have saved a number Celebrity- Athletes some Very Embarrassing Moments—some of which were also quite costly.
Sadly—Only recently on 2-23-21 , Biorhythm Cycle study could have saved Tiger Woods from a Very Serious car crash. A car crash that caused serious injuries to his legs—A car crash according to emergency responders—He was lucky to survive. Thanks to his seat belt his injuries were not life-threatening.
Tiger Woods was unwittingly DUI
. Tiger Woods was driving under influence of Very Unfavorable Biorhythms!
Tiger’s Biorhythms were Physical-- +27 ( 1 day past the Critical point headed up) Emotional – Critical Point of the cycle, the most accident prone point. Intellectual -100. The very lowest point in the Intellectual cycle. In essence Tiger was Critical in one cycle, but also very close to the Critical
state in the other two cycles. A low in one cycle can sometimes behave as the unstable Critical Day in a cycle.
It is doubtful that Tiger studies Biorhythm Theory—most probably because by many it is regarded as Pseudo – Science
. In my book The 59’s
In Golf : Do They Prove Biorhythm Theory
?, I wrote a chapter specifically about a half dozen celebrities that could benefit immensely from Biorhythm Theory.Tiger at that time was not among that small group. However, to date, Tiger is the ONLY one wherein serious bodily injury was sustained.
Among the athletes beside Tiger are
Yuli Guriel
Ryan Lochte
Conor Mc Gregor
Deshaun Watson
Serena Williams
Deshaun Watson?
Recently in the news-- allegations of sexual misconduct—sexual assault. I wrote about Deshaun Watson in my book Extraordinary Performances In Sports and Life—The Numbers That Influence Them
. For those of you interested in reading about Deshaun and what bearing , it may or may not have concerning the aforementioned allegations, you can find my comments in the chapter entitled, Trends, Patterns and Cusps
. As you read the chapter , keep in mind I wrote this over four years before any of these allegations arose.
Another Public Safety Announcement ?

However you decide to use this book--- Read it conscientiously
It could save you public embarrassment
Or
It could even save your life!
Chapter 1 What Exactly Is Sabermetrics?
If you google Sabermetrics you will find several definitions that relate to baseball analysis. It was originally coined in 1980 by Bill James. He added metrics
to the acronym SABR , which stands for Society Of American Baseball Research.
There are on line courses for Sabermetrics. There are You Tube
videos on Sabermetrics. It was famously put on display in the movie Money Ball
starring Brad Pitt. Over the years Sabermetrics has developed beyond player statistics to detailed scientific analysis.
In Sabermetrics 101 on You Tube
( link included) there was a study on fastballs that defied
gravity. The more the fast ball defied gravity-- the more succesful the pitcher was.
As in the movie Money Ball
-- Sabermetrics is used to scout talented players who might have been otherwise overlooked. Players recruited with drastically lower price tags
.
But Sabermetrics evolved beyond talent scouting, player development and other performance related activities. Sabermetrics developed into a tool for betting. This is to be expected.
Mankind has tried to predict the outcome of events since the beginning of time.
With a powerful tool as Sabermetrics , it is tempting for avid baseball fans .

Chapter 2 What Exactly Is Biorthythm Theory
Brief History of Biorhythm Theory
Depending on your sources, two men discovered Biorhythm theory about the same time. My favorite source of information Wikipedia
lists Wilhelm Fliess to be the first in late ninetheeth century ( no year or date given). Fliess was a Berlin eye, ear, nose
(ENT) physician. He was a patient and also colleague of Sigmund Freud. FIiess documented cycles of 23 and 28 days for births, deaths and other phenomena. He believed the 23 day cycle was male
and the 28 day cycle was female
.
In 1904 , Herman Swoboda a Viennese psychology professor noticed the same phenomena. These two men worked independently of each other.
Later came Alfred Teltscher, an engineering professor at the University of Innsbruck.Teltscher developed Swoboda’s work and added a third cycle—the thirty three day intellectual cycle. It was Teltscher’s belief that his students ability to learn and absorb material went through a positive phase and a negative phase that lasted thirty three days.
After Teltscher came one of the first academic researchers-- Nikolai Parna. He published a book called ,Rhythm, Life And Creation
in 1923.
In each Biorhythm cycle the first phase (positive) is a duration of one half of the total cycle. The cycle then crosses the base line and heads down for the negative portion the other half.
It was another fifty years or more, before Biorhythm theory became popular. A large part of its’ popularity was due to Bernard Gittelson. Gittelson made biorhythm charts and calculators. Gittelson wrote Biorhythm charts for major newspapers from 1977 to 1985. Gittelson was part scholar and part hustler. Under his influence Biorhythm Theory flourished. Professional football teams used his charts to gain an advantage. In the final analysis, Gittelson over-stepped himself. He made claims for sporting events that did not pan out.
Why The Theory Was Rejected
There are a number of reasons and arenas in which Biorhythm Theory was rejected. The theory was rejected in the industrial arena, as well as the sports arena. Lastly it was rejected in the personal
arena.
In the industrial arena, Biorhythm Theory was put to empirical testing. Over one hundred thirty studies were done. It was concluded the theory was false.
Basically, Biorhythm Theory made this theoretical proposition : Eighty per cent of accidents occur on a Critical Biorhythm Day which comprises twenty percent of days. Let’s elaborate on this further. In Biorhythm Theory when the cycle crosses the base line going from the positive phase to the negative phase-- this is called a Critical Day. It happens twice in each of the three cycles. It occurs at the beginning of the cycle and mid-way through the cycle. Since there are three cycles, there are roughly
six Critical Days in a thirty day time period. Roughly
, because none of the cycles are exactly thirty days. Six is twenty percent of thirty. If Biorhythm Theory therefore was valid, a person is four times more likely to have an accident on a Critical Day.
A number of prominent companies and organizations tested Biorhythm Theory. NASA among them. Researchers concluded the theory was not valid, after statistical science was applied to the data.
The proponents of Biorhythm Theory argued the reverse. Their numbers and statistics showed a correlation.
One of the main issues was how a Critical Day was defined. The supporters of the theory proposed that a Critical Day’s influence is determined by the time of day a person is born. Thus, if you were born in the evening , theory dictated : you might not feel the effect until possibly the next day. If you were born in the morning , then the reverse was true--- you might feel the influence earlier.
Reportedly, in some studies data was included to extend the Critical Day period to one day before and one day after the actual Critical Day. In essence, instead of six Critical Days in a thirty period—there would now be eighteen
