To Clear the Air - Hannah Beverly

    TO CLEAR THE AIR

    Hannah Beverly

    For Beverly

For always being my friend first

For the letters you wrote to us as kids

For being my favorite storyteller and my biggest cheerleader from the start

For being the first to remind me this is ‘all for the glory of God" when it all seems pointless

    This book is for you

    <3

    TO CLEAR THE AIR

(This only applies if you have ever known me)

    I am a poet

Yes there is a poem about you

A quick message to all my friends, family and foes that read this.

I do not wish to get a text from you five years from now because you realized one of these is about you and you don’t like the meaning

If there is the smallest possibility you could reach out if I am to say something you don't like

    Don't pick up this book.

Also realize I wouldn’t have written a poem about you if you could tell it was you.

    Hello

    ( authors note )

We’ve all felt that our voice was unheard or our side of a story was not understood.

We all share the humanness of that.

Everyone has a side everyone wants to be heard.

As a teenager we all sort of shout at once talking over each other screaming like a child in a sort of tantrum of confusion and desire to be seen.

Have you ever lost touch with someone and 2 years later you have all these things you wish you could say to them as a last remark on your relationship together as a friend or a boyfriend or a family member.

This is basically that for me.

    Hence the name.

I wrote my first poem when I was 14. A freshman in highschool.

However the first poem that ever meant anything to me was written when I was 15. I call that my first real poem.  From there my love for poetry has grown. And don't worry, you get to read that one too. It opens the book.

Being that I finish highschool this year, one could say I have documented my highschool experience in rhyme. Granted not all of my first poems were up to par in
