Preface
The purpose of this book is to introduce some standardized growing practices for Chrysanthemums and Marigolds, two popular flowers belonging to the eastern tropics. Both Chrysanthemums and Marigolds are popular among flower farmers of tropics. These crops require little care and are easy to grow because of their hardy nature. Chrysanthemums are known for their showy flowers and Marigolds are known for their nematode-repellant properties. Chrysanthemums and Marigolds have great economic value as cut flowers. A flower farmer of these crops can always find a stable demand for his/her crops in local domestic markets and/or in global export markets. This book is the culmination of my knowledge on this topic and also a result of the technical education and the training that I received from education/industry experts during my graduation in horticultural sciences.

Introduction
Chrysanthemum is also known as queen of the east
. The word is composed of two Latin words viz. "Chrysos means gold and
Anthemon" means flower. It is also known as Glory of the East. It is one of the most exciting and widely cultivated flowers that can be grown in gardens as well as commercially, produce profuse and showy flowers with a wide variety of ranges of color, shape, sizes and has emerged as the most domesticated plants where it is highly regarded and priced by the people all over the world. It is generally grown as a potted plant, cut flower, loose flower and as an edge around the trees.
Taxonomy and Botanical Description
Chrysanthemum belongs to the genus Chrysanthemum with various species and family Asteraceae. It is represented as Chrysanthemum indicum L. The species are either annual or perennial in nature, the plant height ranges from 50 to 150 cm. The leaves have alternate bearing
