Alstroemeria flower, also commonly known as Peruvian lily, originates from South America. It consists of about 50 species. It is a beautiful flower that is often found in floral bouquets. Its flowers come in an assortment of colors such as pink, white, purple, red and orange. This flower grows best in tropical climates and blooms from late spring to the beginning of summer months. When cut and placed in a vase of water, it can last up to 2 weeks before it turns droopy.
The flower is named after Baron Klas von Alstroemer, a botanist from Sweden in the year 1753.
