    Introduction

My hope is that you will use this guide to remain proactive, encouraged, and ultimately have a successful job search. These are trying times, and the COVID-19 pandemic seems all set to push us into another great depression—one that might even go beyond the 1930s era market crash. This is because this time, it is not just the US stock market crash alone, but pretty much the entire global economy that seems to be going belly up.

While unemployment rates are increasing all over the globe, there is plenty of light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks to increasing globalization, the world is now more closely knit than it was at any other time in history. Further, the world is rapidly going digital, and working from home is now the norm rather than the exception. Many digital solution service providers are also doing their part to keep the wheels of global commerce moving at a steady pace.

For many jobseekers, these factors create an ideal time to increase their skill levels and take advantage of the many new and exciting opportunities that are now increasingly apparent in a post-COVID-19 world.

After all, the working environment is always in a state of flux, and various new innovations are continuously appearing over the horizon. Therefore, you should never really stop learning in your chosen career. Besides, the more technically competent you are, the better your chances are for standing out amongst other jobseekers.

The acquisition of new skills helps to show potential employers that you are serious about your work, and that you can be an asset within any company that hires you. Apart from that, learning something new in your field can also give you great networking opportunities through providing the opportunity to network with classmates and instructors.

While this guide seeks to provide several tools to help jobseekers achieve success during job searching, whatever happens within your job search, you should never give in to despair or depression.

While we will delve into ways to reduce idle time, stay encouraged, build your resume, and network in further chapters, my sincerest hope is that after reading this book you find yourself prepared with the tools to thrive during periods of unemployment!

    Cultivating A Positive Outlook

Losing a job can be an extremely stressful situation for most people. However, it is not the end of the tunnel. On the contrary, it is more of an opportunity to step back and take a long introspective look at your professional life and figure out exactly where you are headed.

Maintaining a positive attitude will help you get right back into the groove. Here are some tips that you can make use of to help you with this:

Use a Kind Inner Voice When Talking to Yourself

There is nothing wrong with feeling sad and worried and to rail against the unfairness of society at large. Once you are totally open and honest about your feelings with your loved ones, you will automatically share your burden by allowing others to help you at this time and to be patient with you.

Sometimes, even the simplest of words of encouragement from your loved ones can go a long way when it comes to lifting your spirits. Especially, when the encouragement is
